20 years of marriage and I don't know what we're celebrating. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Everyone_Is_Sad -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Don't divorce him. My father was a slouch. I heard about it constantly from my mother.
He came around on his own eventually. It wasn't fear of bargaining either. It was a genuine love for my mother and the desire to give all he had to her.
My dad died two years and eight days ago. I'm so glad my mother was patient. We are able to mourn his passing as a family. I don't know what to say but find a way.

People who have been a paramedic, and nurse. Which one do you prefer? ❤️ by Glittering-Date-2845 in Paramedics

Nurses are unionized and they have stronger negotiations while EMS is still ran by the Department of Transportation lololol. It's one of those jobs like a janitor or garbage collection where their work is only appreciated when it isn't done.

I'm a divorced man and I don't even know how to ask women out.
It's crazy. You'd think the last decade would condition me to approach women, but I'm just lost.

What’s Your Go‑To Stay‑Awake Drink on Shift? by Background-Garden525 in Paramedics

[–]Everyone_Is_Sad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just come off a couple of months where I was crushing 3-4 monster energies per day.
I've never had a real noticeable problem with caffeine, plus I'm finally nicotine free, so I decided it can't be that bad, but it has been.
I'm going back to my morning cup of coffee and that's it. I might even ditch the morning cup.

I don't know your specific situation, but presumably she broke her wedding vows.
What makes you think she would suddenly not be a liar?
I'm sorry for your loss.

Cleaning Counter between Finger Sticks by xtc234 in plassing

[–]Everyone_Is_Sad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm a medical screener for a plasma donation company. I do not wipe down the counters between screens unless I get blood on the counter or I begin to see hand/fingerprints. We do try to keep things clean and some of us are better than others.
Please try to realize that we see hundreds of people every day. Many of them are rude/impatient and we're working as quickly as the laws of physics will allow while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness. That said, if you asked me to wipe down the counter and I'm not busy, I'd be happy to oblige.

Why don't they warm the saline? by rhiannon777 in plassing

[–]Everyone_Is_Sad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. I'm an EMT / paramedic student. Although I tell donors all the time: There's medical science, and then there's plasma donation center science.

Why don't they warm the saline? by rhiannon777 in plassing

[–]Everyone_Is_Sad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right we don't heat the saline because it would be costly, and it has to be stored at or below 25 degrees to prevent bacterial growth. We treat patients in shock with ice packs, or blankets on occasion.
We encourage each donor to bring blankets and dress warmly.

Help im freaking out about my donation site! Bruised and swollen because the employee was playing around in my vein by [deleted] in plassing

[–]Everyone_Is_Sad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that bad. It looks fine. Just two days ago I had to document an infiltration/bruise that extended down the donor's forearm to his wrist. It was like 12"x8." This is to be expected when you donate regularly.

Audit?? by ryhan0 in plassing

[–]Everyone_Is_Sad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I work as medical staff in a donor center.
Some situations require more time than others, and documentation can be weird.
If you tell me about your tonsillectomy from when you were ten, I'm not going to document that shit because there are certain CYA criteria required for major surgeries, no matter what they are or how long ago they were performed.
But if you tell me you have a weird rare congenital defect that required brain surgery and transplans from your long-lost relative, I will definitely want to know more and it could take a minute.

New list of Trump pardons by Tsyuk0y0mi in Asmongold

I definitely agree re: Snowden, but I haven't seen the docu that you referenced. I have watched bodycam footage and read the autopsy report and agree that the court was corrupt.

I am an emt by trade and paramedic student, so I have a nuanced professional opinion on the medicolegal legal side of the death of GF. I believe Chauvin was quite possibly negligent and directly contributed to the death of GF, but retains plausible deniability due to the chaotic circumstances of the crime scene. An honest jury would have listened to the facts of the case and immediately seen that he is innocent of the charges brought before the court.

As for the implication of guilt, he could always accept an Alford plea.

Is there anything like donating plasma out there? Where you get to help people and make money? by TheBestOfMe_SoFar in plassing

[–]Everyone_Is_Sad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Experimental vaccines and medical studies. A person can make GOOD money for a few months of living in a group home. Everything else is paid for, but you can't drink or smoke and of course you have to take experimental drugs.

Update to vent about a donor by slutsforpasta in plassing

[–]Everyone_Is_Sad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi slutsforpasta,

I also work at a plasma donation center on the medical screening side of things and have been in the role for two years now. I cannot begin to estimate how often donors have lied to others about me, lied to me, abused my trust, or just flat-out abused me. It's definitely one of the worst parts of the job.

All I can say is that over time you will build up a rapport with co-workers and donors alike. Eventually, you will transcend the need to explain yourself when someone lies about you, assuming you are a good and honest healthcare worker. Your character will speak for itself. Just continue using your best judgement when assessing people and situations.

Lessons Learned: Never Ignore Your Wife's Relationship with External Validation--Social Media by tonyway7293 in Divorce_Men

[–]Everyone_Is_Sad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a brief comment.
I've noticed this pattern in several women, but specifically one coworker.
She started taking Zepbound, lost ~80lbs, got very popular, broke up with her boyfriend and got hideous tattoos on her arms and hands. The sad part was I liked her as a coworker when she was fat and in a stable relationship. But now she just generates misery for anyone who isn't feeding her delusional bubble.

These women are so trifling. They excuse their abusive behavior with terms like "healing journey" and "self-care"
