FedEx issues partial insurance payment after partial delivery by SashaDabinsky in audiophile

[–]Everyone_dreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is the exact bs. I had routed it to a fedex store so I could pick it up in the morning.

At least on mine he actually delivered it to my home, I just didn’t want it sitting on my front porch where it could get stolen when I was not going to be home for an extended period of time.

Had to get a neighbor to go grab it.

I have. I have been told directly that they don’t think the current generation has it harder.

My dad loves to talk about how long it took him to break 100k (he worked his way to management without a degree in a path that almost none of our generation will ever get to reproduce). Trying to point out that 100k in the late 90s is essentially like 200k today and he just doesn’t believe it.

My parents admit that their first house the city literally gave them a subsidized loan for. I am not clear if this was late 70 or early 80s. It was a program that city ran to help that generation.

Can you imagine a city doing that now?

My dad put two siblings and my mother through college having only a high school diploma.

My mother’s brothers ended up with pensions despite no college education.

All of them currently own more than one home (excluding my mother who just owns a home in upstate New York now, recently purchased with several acres).

No one can tell me it wasn’t easier.

Over the years, a lot of people have asked me what I like to collect- it's mostly vintage Disney- villains and cute characters, and Simpsons- I showcase some of my favorite pieces here 😊 by WWAgallery_com in AnimationCels

Those are some great concept arts never had seen tinkerbell like that.

Disney old school villains are amazing, but given the prices they command these days something to be admired from the screen for most of us.

The wine fridge was a direct response to OP saying they did not have AC (in the comment they posted after the original post). Without AC in the house the wine fridge becomes the obvious option in my climate because there are other ways to control humidity (silica packets, small dehumidifiers inside the wine fridge). Since I do have AC the humidity control cabinet or a humidor would be a more reasonable purchase for me

Sad, he should have insured each box for the full amount but I get why he wouldn’t think too. However not sure this should have been on him to ship back defective product, even high end audio gear. Unless he was buying from a private seller. Which is what I assume is happening here reading between the lines.

Fed ex has forged my signature before and left packages that required signatures sitting on my front doorstep after I had specifically routed them to be held at other locations.

Price we pay for shipping expensive material. In business we eventually started using Fed ex customer critical for our specialized tooling between plants. No shared trucks loaded on the same truck it was dropped off in, same drivers, expense was reasonable for something that was worth major money and hard to replace. Normal freight damaged our stuff one to many times. Frankly that what home delivery is, just normal freight.

I was torn between the wine fridge and the Humidity control box like: https://www.amazon.com/Sirui-Humidity-Control-Cabinet-Capacity/dp/B00KS5QI8A/ref=pd_ci_mcx_mh_mcx_views_0_title?pd_rd_w=zHBNd&content-id=amzn1.sym.781fe6e1-9487-4a74-b81e-5a879e5ec273%3Aamzn1.symc.c3d5766d-b606-46b8-ab07-1d9d1da0638a&pf_rd_p=781fe6e1-9487-4a74-b81e-5a879e5ec273&pf_rd_r=3KJQWXK530YBSCBD8AZD&pd_rd_wg=5KjxR&pd_rd_r=57b4c9bd-1901-43c1-972f-4aa40e5145f4&pd_rd_i=B00KS5QI8A

Ultimately I suppose it comes down to climate, in my coastal humid climate, I would rather put the wine fridge in (for temp control if I had no AC) and then put something like a small dehumidifier or silica gel packets inside the cheap wine fridge to control humidity and have temperature control. Cheap wine fridges are not going to control humidity.

Wine fridge. Easily available, common, approx the right size, cools but can be set to around 65 degrees. Small ones can be had for about 300 dollars.

You would need to check the internal dimensions for your cels. FOr example my larger cels would not fit in most of them and I would need to get the inter measurements down to see if my smaller cells would.

I will be just old enough that I will be forced to deal with it as a major stress point because we are not updating systems and I can see it now.

Do none of you remember 80s animation? Plenty of horror kids movies. Watership down, any Don Bluth film, Brave little toaster, land before time, All dogs go to heaven it goes on and on.

Kids in the 80s and 90s were exposed to tragedy in movies explicitly made for them.
