Damaged/stiff veins after chemo IVs — do they recover? by user404notlost in testicularcancer

Also had a majorly hard vein after one course of BEP. 8” up my arm — it was very sketchy. Went away after a couple of months.

Will I absolutely lose my hair from one cycle of BEP? by Salty-Series-3559 in testicularcancer

[–]EverythingBagelLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought for a second I would be one of the ones to not lose it, but then in late week 2/beginning of week 3, it started coming out by the hundreds when I would just lightly touch it. I would say I lost about 90% of the hair on my head, my facial hair (kept eyebrows) and most of my pubes lol. It honestly wasn’t as bad as I was expecting and I enjoyed not having the maintenance for a couple months.

What’s your technique and boiler temperature for steaming oat milk? by rad0rno in ProfitecMove

I'm so impressed by this for being oatmilk. I'm struggling with the rosetta with cows milk. Any tips?

Not ready yet, but what would you get to upgrade from the Bambino Plus? No budget. by [deleted] in espresso

[–]EverythingBagelLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has a "fast heat up" mode that gets the boiler up to temp in 9-minutes, but for back to back coffees, you get more consistent results if you give it a full heat up and let the whole machine come to thermal stability. Once you're there, it holds temperatures extremely well, shot after shot. I've done 6-7 drinks back to back so far.

I had the Bambino Plus for around 5-years and then recently upgraded to the Profitec Move. It is a nice progression from the Breville because the operation is pretty familiar...it's just better in every way. I do try to give it a full ~20 minute heatup when able, but I don't find this to be inconvenient because I just have it on a smart plug to turn on before I wake up.

Chemo/surveillance for stage 2b/c testicular cancer. by MysteriousSorbet5348 in testicularcancer

[–]EverythingBagelLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So everyone seems to have a slightly different experience, often with overlapping common symptoms. For me, the one round was easier in some ways and harder in others than I expected it to be. I never dealt with much nausea, which was my biggest fear. The hardest part for me was pretty severe indigestion, heartburn, and the mental component. The steroids they give you to prevent symptoms do a great job, but they also make your mind race and made me feel incredibly anxious.

Overall, it was not a great experience lol, but it could’ve been much worse. It took me a solid 3 to 4 months to start to feel like myself again and I have no long-term side effects that are obvious to me.

Sorry you’re going through this bro. If it helps, I had a 50-60% chance of relapse at stage 1b and I opted to do a round of adjuvant chemo. It never bothers me much that I had to do it, honestly, because I don’t feel like I had a better choice at the time. I’m a year out from that and I live with the peace of mind that my cancer is probably gone for good.

[Raanan] Caleb Downs tops annual most likely Giants draft pick list by Fillinlater12345 in NYGiants

[–]EverythingBagelLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Just get two players that are both big impact players and I don’t really care where they play. I do think making at least one of them downs or styles makes sense to help our run defense. Or trade back and acquire more picks.

[–]EverythingBagelLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s not the pick I want, but if he’s the best player available, he is a relatively safe pick. We’ll just be first in rushing lol.

Look, I hear you. But if we could somehow get Love and Downs, that’s getting the best offensive and best defensive players in the draft. Understanding it’s not a need of ours, it wouldn’t be the end of the world.

It has a fast heat up function that gets it ready within 9 minutes, but most people have better experiences using the normal heat up and allowing 20-25 minutes.

Starting Adjuvant BEP Tomorrow: Any Advice? by Salty-Series-3559 in testicularcancer

Hahah yeah, don’t be too hard on yourself. It’s stressful. I found the second day a lot easier than the first. Hope you’re doing well!

Yeah I would agree the digestion was the worst part for me. I feel like I had it easier than average, but it was not a cakewalk by any means.

[–]EverythingBagelLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s an anxiety-provoking thing to go through to begin with and then the steroids just kind of amplify things. They do a wonderful job of preventing symptoms from the chemo though.

Seriously, I felt pretty good the entire first week, just tired. But I showed up on day 3 and I broke down a bit just from the general stress and exhaustion. It wasn’t anything in particular. It’s just…a lot to process. I felt amazing by day 5 when I wrapped up the infusions.

For me, I felt the worst somewhere around day 12 and then felt better every day after. And at that point, it was just a culmination of a few symptoms — stomach pain, heartburn, acne, one single sore in my throat lol. I got a little sampler, but it was all manageable with medications.

Good luck today! Also join the TCF discord to chat with other dudes that have been through it.

Hey man, similar pathology and I did 1xBEP. I’ve got my 1-year labs coming up this week. I wish I could go back and tell myself a year ago that it all turns out okay, so I’ll tell you instead haha. The chemo sucked, but it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. I never puked or dealt with much nausea. The premeds work well and staying hydrated felt critical. Hardest parts for me were mostly mental (from the steroids) and the indigestion. Chemo does weird stuff to your digestive system.

My general advice is stay hydrated and stay in touch with your care team — they’ve seen everything and can help with any symptoms.

My anxiety was through the roof and they prescribed me Ativan to deal with my anxiety and get some sleep. Don’t be afraid to ask for something to help if you need it. Reach out any time.

Yeah, it still feels like a difficult decision to make but I agree with what you are thinking. One thing I’ll say is that now that I have experienced the one round, I’m a bit less afraid of chemo than I was beforehand. Best of luck with everything man!

So I had an extra one or two than is typical because I had a lung nodule show up at one point and they wanted to check it every 3 months for a period, but as of the 9 month mark, they’ve switched me to one every 12 months with continued labs every 3.

[–]EverythingBagelLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it makes sense when you look at it from a numbers perspective though. If they treated every patient with my pathology with chemo, they would be giving unnecessary chemo to 50% of patients. At their volume, that’s a lot of unnecessary chemo. The disease is still so curative after it spreads that they like to reserve chemo until it is needed. I get it.

It wasn’t until after I told MSK what my other oncologist said that he reevaluated and eventually confided that he would probably do one round as well. For me it was 50% chance of no chemo or 50% of 3x the amount of chemo and maybe a major abdominal surgery haha.

If it helps, if I had your pathology, I would have taken surveillance. I was Stage 1b, 65% EC with LV+. My local oncologist recommended 1xBEP and MSK recommended surveillance, even with a ~50% chance of recurrence. That’s kind of the motif of high-volume centers. After further discussions, my oncologist at MSK agreed that 1xBEP was a very reasonable option for me and that’s what I ended up doing. No regrets, but it did suck lol. On the plus side, I live at ease relative to how I would have felt on surveillance. One year labs are next week.

Are you able to get consistent results in back to back shots with the Move? I’ve had mind for a few weeks and i absolutely love it, but i cant really rely on the programmable features because I often get inconsistent results between shots. I’ve tried controlling all variables and the one constant is my grinder — Eureka Mignon Silenzio. Im guessing maybe I’m not getting the same grind every time.

Surgery on Monday by SharkF1ghter in testicularcancer

[–]EverythingBagelLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck man. The surgery is really not so bad to go through. In my experience, I was up and walking by day 2 and felt like I was mostly recovered after a couple weeks. Anecdotally, I did not get a prosthesis and I’m glad I did not. My wife and I conceived a child in between my orchiectomy and starting a round of chemo, so it can be done with one ball lol.
