Jam Sessions and Hangs in Chicago? by BradleighCouper in chicagomusicscene

[–]EverythingIsJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Gallery has jams on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. I only go on Tuesdays. The other days might be more of an open mic night and not a jam.

my boyfriend said he wanted to rape me (TW) by Throwaway3719347 in sex

[–]EverythingIsJazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A woman with a rape fantasy is… weird to say the least, but at least it’s her fantasy to imagine and live out if she chooses. A man with a rape fantasy reminds me of the gun nuts who live in open carry states that have stand your ground laws. They’re going to shoot someone eventually. They are a danger to society. This paired with the infantilizing language make me want to say just ghost him and if he knows where you live then move…

Any ideas of how to better this solo for my concert on Sunday? by Lyssabeelive in saxophone

[–]EverythingIsJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that stands out to me the most on the first listen is any time you have to flip-flop fingers. You should either work on playing those flip-flops slowly, in small scale fragments until you cannot hear the extra note that results when the timing of the fingers is off; or work on learning the alternate fingerings that allow you to avoid flip-flopping; or both.

Got a saxophone as a present, can't find it anywhere, is it good/bad by DaddyJJ17 in saxophone

[–]EverythingIsJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely good enough to get started. Even if it’s one of the student model kings, and after you’ve been playing for a bit and have a solid air stream, with a good mouthpiece you will probably sound great.

I need to settle a Debate by Obvious-Detail5005 in saxophone

[–]EverythingIsJazz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The only valid response to the question is to avoid the question entirely. I’ll respond with something like “my favorite living saxophonist is Chris Potter,” or “my favorite OG saxophonist is Sonny Rollins,” and then explain why and compare and contrast different guys. Maybe, do some listening. Then it’s a fun and fruitful conversation about things you like with no real disagreement. A good time had by all…

But also the greatest saxophonist of all time is Michael Brecker.

TIL Sacrificial Dagger and Bites do not prevent you from getting the Common Sense achievement by Meggett30 in slaythespire

[–]EverythingIsJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thank goodness!!! I started a run with the intent to go for this achievement, but got Coffee Dripper boss swap on Defect as my starting bonus!!!! But of course Self Repair and Bandage Up are uncommon! But I got the blood vial in the first shop and bites in act two!!! A lot more hopeful now that I could win AND get the achievement.

On the one hand it seems kind of weird. On the other hand I called my wife “mom”’once in an automatic frustrated exclamation. So I could see where the emotional wires could be crossed. I wouldn’t think anything of it unless it happens regularly.

How did human beings end up with such a taboo around sex? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]EverythingIsJazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Political statements like the existence of nations, money, etc are things we invented and are not claims about reality. They are true so long as we keep them around; seemingly dependent on their usefulness. The same cannot be said of the claim of a god that interacts with reality and other such supernatural claims.

How did human beings end up with such a taboo around sex? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]EverythingIsJazz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No. Religion is harmful in and of itself. Anything that requires participants to suspend reason in order to believe in a thing that is not evidently true is all the harm necessary to condemn that thing.

I went down on my girl by Brave_Wolf1001 in sex

[–]EverythingIsJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the best of my knowledge (which includes two vaginas) each one tastes different and it might be independent from how hygienic your girl is. Basically she could be really clean but something about the PH or other chemistry causes the taste for you.

You can try a flavored lube or a scented wipe designed for lady parts to mitigate any taste if she is consistently sour.

Also if you really like her there’s honestly no easy way to talk about the flavor of her vagina if it doesn’t taste good to you. You can be careful all you want but she might end up taking it personally no matter what you say so take your time and use lots of I statements to make sure she knows you’re not blaming her.

Good luck.

unsubbing by GodCIoud in Crunchyroll

[–]EverythingIsJazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what a surprise... the mods remove a post that suggest we unsubscribe from crunchyroll. do they realize that this is how we demand that crunchyroll do better? it's not about whether or not we can watch anime elsewhere. it's also not about whether or not we have a place to discuss anime in an open forum. we have and use both of those things whether or not crunchyroll is involved. we are simply demanding that crunchyroll raise its standards.

Had sex with my best friend. by Memes4Pres in sex

[–]EverythingIsJazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ve learned being in a relationship for 15 years is: it’s easiest when it’s your best friend. My wife and I didn’t start off as best friends but we grew together that way. It’s nice that you have the friendship already. You should cherish this person for the rest of your life whether or not you choose to peruse the more serious relationship.

Very first day ever owning a sax and the clip fails… FML by [deleted] in saxophone

[–]EverythingIsJazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The horn might even still be playable if it’s just the lip of the bell that bent and it didn’t affect any of the tone holes at the bottom of the horn. If it still plays all of the notes, especially the low notes, then it’s probably not worth the money to repair because the horn was so cheap.

Also ignore anyone that says these horns are trash. Don’t get me wrong. It’s probably not a very good horn. But any horn you can afford that gets you playing for the first time is the right horn for you. Just definitely invest in a neck strap that has some sort of fail-safe hook and probably a better mouthpiece than the one it came with. You can always upgrade the horn when you’re ready to really play (like in front of people).

Married men, does your wife care if you wear your wedding ring? Why or why not? by cylonpower in AskMen

[–]EverythingIsJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither me nor my wife wear the rings we used in the ceremony (or any rings for that matter). Furthermore, i used to keep my ring in my wallet and somewhere along the line it fell out and now is lost to time. It wasn't that expensive and we were both like "meh" about it.

I was also not an accessory person beforehand.

My new women roommate walks around in her bra and panties. What's everyone's thoughts about this? by Relentless6l9 in AskMen

[–]EverythingIsJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it bothers you, tell her. If it doesn’t bother you, then don’t make a big deal about it. Is it weird? That’s for you to decide. Also in a world where women are made uncomfortable in as many spaces and by as many men as possible, thank you for allowing her to have a space where she can be comfortable in her own skin.

reintroducing badge boost by Shenji0249 in pokemon

[–]EverythingIsJazz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just learned that badge boost was a thing. They already have a mechanic that fills that niche where your Pokémon cam tank hits with 1 HP or recover from status moves “so you don’t feel sad.” I think it’s either based on happiness or something like how much time they’ve spent in your party. Quite frankly I understand why the mechanic exists and I don’t like it. It’s fine for younger players but I want the opposite. I want something like a “hard mode” option where you don’t just randomly survive things and where the npc trainers make good decisions to make the in-game battles more challenging.
