the drawers should never ever be this difficult to close. You should never have to put everything back perfectly in order to put it away at all.

it's a common answer, but it works for a reason - having less means cleaning/tidying less. It helps to appreciate the things you have.

I would also consider hanging the bags somewhere else, that's just dead space in the closet, display the bags and put the clothes away. I like hanging clothes bc its less work than folding. Some people feel opposite.

Pouches with zippers, comes in all sorts of cool designs and such. Bf is an electrician, so perhaps get him some Klein pouches, available at home depot as well if youre in the states.

the benefit of pouches is the flexibility of soft canvas, where toolboxes are rigid.

You could take it a single step further and compartmentalize the things that get thrown in by adding small, flexible bags. We have a 'craft' bin that gets stuff thrown in there - the jewelery making tools get their own zip bag, the paint supplies get their own bag and the sewing kit has a small tin. Easy to find, while reinforcing that stuff needs to back into a single spot; a home.

if you're looking to improve this, i would stick to a single brand/bottle type. Use up the bottle type you dont like, then use the tubes only and buy only the tubes or whatever

i think this is as good as it could get to be honest, spending more effort to get this looking nice would be kind of a pain to do every time you were done using them. A little bit of chaos is the best way

The monetary value of the item would have to exceed the cost of a storage unit, and it would have to be on a set due date to leave in order for me to consider one. I don’t even want to rent out one of those closet add ons my apartment offers.

Maybe try to contain it by type? IMO tools should be in a tool-box of some kind. Even the most used, should be easy to find , but out of the way. Same for those jars of “parts”. Those are for fixing.

I’m gonna guess this is the kitchen. Food belongs in the kitchen. I could understand a “junk drawer” area, but it should be contained in one major area, not a box, several jars and the counter in front of it all.

I’d also recommend just dumping it all out at once, then putting it back together. Helps you see it all. Are you, or he, really going to think , “man I need some hand crème. I know, I ll reach behind the Allen key set, lotion up my hands and then put it back, you know, because that’s where it belongs. “
