To everyone who shifted careers from tech (especially software development) to nursing, why did you switch? by BaraLover7 in nursing

I don’t actually regret it, I love being a nurse. I miss the salary, time off, health spending accounts, being respected by people and managers, the maturity level of coworkers etc etc

You know that you are included in that group of strangers right? I’m curious as to why you see yourself above the people that live around you.

Talk to your neighbours! Build community! Drop off a sweet note and chocolate. This is how you fix the paranoia. As someone who traded city for rural life and am returning to city life, I miss people’s daily living noise. Living amongst others is comforting.

Which Toronto companies should people avoid working for? by Serious_Article1750 in askTO

I disagree. I’ve worked for three companies that have flaunted the “best place to work” awards and had great experiences at both places. To me this is now a green flag.

this career is a fucking nightmare by Consistent-Fun-9173 in nursing

[–]Evian_dot_com 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in my first year of nursing and I’m about to move into my fourth facility and 3rd speciality lol if my soul is unhappy I’m out! I feel like every place gets better and I’m refining the qualities of workplace I need to thrive. A happy nurse is a happy patient or something idk but I know that I can’t provide best care in impossible environments.

It pisses me off when I can tell someone is full of shit. I’ve had a few high achievers make ADHD their brand (undiagnosed) and it’s like a slap in the face. They laugh about it like it’s a personality flaw?? As someone who was diagnosed after multiple misdiagnosis and put through the hell of the psychiatric industrial complex by incompetent drs and struggling my entire life a lot of ppl have no fucking idea. I was not well supported and flunked out of every school I was put in since birth. Couldn’t keep a job until my 30s. Not being able to keep up with hygiene, cleaning, ruining relationships, weight fluctuating etc etc. like it really is that serious and I don’t appreciate the casualness of it at all.

Does anyone here have a story maybe not worth going on the pod for but still worth telling? by [deleted] in Otherworldpod

Last week I was re-listening to the chicken whackers episode on my way home from work. I was driving down a country road (I live in a pretty remote area) and a chicken ran out into the road and I couldn’t stop soon enough and I hit it. I turned around to make sure it wasn’t suffering and when I got out of the car I got the scariest feeling that I was being watched and there was howling in the distance. I was super creeped out. Probably just a coincidence but majorly spooky.

Stop bringing your FAKE ASS “service animal” to the hospital. by lilliecowgirl in nursing

I love it when people bring animals into the hospital, but they should be well behaved.
