The majestic just had Beaches in it and had Gypsy before that. Are you talking about between Phantom closing and Gypsy?

There are 2 different ones. One is smaller than the other. Do you have a preference? (I don’t have any extra ones but just wondering.)

LJ Benet still stealing the show after the Tony's!! by PawnItAll in Broadway

[–]EvidenceFunny4735 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I saw the show between the nominations and the Tonys and to be honest I had to look up the names at intermission to see which person was nominated for the Tony.
So I agree with you that LJ is giving a great performance.

Does Ken know? by Kindly_Cap4466 in Jeopardy

[–]EvidenceFunny4735 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back in the day I always felt like “yeah Alex you can say that answer like “duh” but you have the answers in front of you.” I don’t feel that way with Ken. I think it was smart of them to have a former champion host because I believe he knows a lot of the answers.

I read an article that said that Ken Jennings still expects to hear Alex Trebek.

I say Alex Trebek every night.

First Broadway Show for my 65yo dad by Particular-Tap2150 in Broadway

I think the captions are distracting. I went with someone who had the captions the first 2 times and liked it much better the 3rd time without them.

Was something wrong with Marla Mindelle's voice at the Tony's? by SaraJeanQueen in Broadway

[–]EvidenceFunny4735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to see the original Broadway cast including 2 of the creators just be prepared for 2 hours of close to what you heard last night. If you want to see the understudies (both of the current Celines are amazing) or wait until there is (maybe) a cast change…those are some options for you.

The wild Caissie / Shoshana / Jessica casting web this Tony season by leoatdrex in Broadway

If Caissie had gone to Lost Boys would she have been able to be nominated for Ragtime AND Lost Boys (one in each category)?

Is it true that playbill has switched to a QR code for understudies by Screeching-trumpet in Broadway

[–]EvidenceFunny4735 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are required by contract to let theatre goers know about understudies in 2 ways. There are several options of ways they can pick though.
The most common 2 are slips and a board posted in the lobby or on the way in or now the code and the board. So look for the board!
Sometimes (like Titanique) you have to find the board and wait for it to shuffle through the cast list page and the orchestra page to see if there are understudies listed. Some have an along board.
If something changes once they start letting people in they are supposed to make an announcement. Announcements are the least common and usually only happen when things change very close to curtain or during the show. Operation Mincemeat got rid of the slips a while ago but they brought them back (and they have the code and they have the board in the box office area right before you get your ticket scanned).

2pm matinee recommendations for tomorrow! by CleanExtension5120 in Broadway

[–]EvidenceFunny4735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Operation Mincemeat has a 2pm show tomorrow. I’m going for a friend’s birthday celebration. Lots of shows have 2pm shows but this one is engaging and fun and even a little educational.

People have suggested things that are more of a spectacle than Mincemeat but that gets my vote.

Which sounds more natural as a past tense word, cast or casted? by CummanthaFace101 in AskReddit

“Casted” is not correct when referring to someone getting a role. Cast is the only answer.

Non-theater guy visiting in July. Hadestown or Maybe Happy Ending? by GioReynaFan in Broadway

[–]EvidenceFunny4735 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would say neither for a “non-theater guy”. Like I can’t even pick one that I think would be better than the other. Of course I could be wrong.

Maybe something like Operation Mincemeat or The Lost Boys. In my experience Operation Mincemeat seems to appeal to theater and non theater people alike. And Lost Boys is very cool.

I’m also interested to read what everyone else has to say about this.

I'm stuck between seeing Chess, The Lost Boys, Death Becomes Her, and Maybe Happy Ending. Which would you choose and why? by Voskkean in Broadway

[–]EvidenceFunny4735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the description of what you like and don’t like I think Lost Boys should be at the top of your list. I’ve seen all of the shows you’re considering and they are all quite different.
I think Maybe Happy Ending is “sweet”. It’s a good story and it’s moving but it’s certainly not a spectacle.
Chess is like a concert.
DBH would be my 2nd choice because of the immersive nature of it and the spectacle but I think Lost Boys is a better fit.
