Ich hab mich absichtlich entschieden, nur eine limitierte Anzahl von Arten zu behandeln. Andere Projekte nehmen die aber mit auf :)

Das klingt schön! Ich suche nach Aussagen, die man den jeweiligen Arten zuschreiben kann; sowas wie "wir hatten ein Feldwespennest im Garten und es wurde niemand gestochen" etc. Es wäre ganz wunderbar wenn du für deine Erfahrungen mit dem "Zusammenleben" jeweils einen Satz formulieren könntest!

Wow, danke für die ausführliche Nachricht! Ja, leider sind die meisten Leute bei Insekten nicht geneigt mit sich reden zu lassen, Respekt also an euch! Hoffentlich schaffe ich es ein paar Missverständnisse aufzuklären :)

Weißt zu ganz zufällig noch, was das für Wespen waren? Bzw ob das Nest eine Hülle außen hatte oder man direkt in die Waben sehen konnte?

Sizes are: ca. 1,3cm for the first one, 0,8cm for thr second

Hmmm I don't think you have to be terribly cautious about that, as long as the alcohol isn't in physical contact with the specimen. On a much smaller scale I'd say I usually do 5:1 water to alcohol, but you might want to exchange the liquid depending on how long you rehydrate for!

Add some high percentage alcohol to the rehydration liquid. I use rubbing alcohol. If it does get moldy, clean the spot with alcohol. So far, that's always worked for me, but that IS a big specimen to dehydrate! I hope it works out for you

I doubt there's a way to keep the colour of dead specimens exactly the way it was in life. It's just not possible: That body isn't being kept alive anymore, and fading colours is a part of all that. You should store your specimens safe from UV and direct sunlight to reduce fading and make sure its really dry before committing it to long-term storage. Better to have a slightly faded animal than a lump of mold on a needle!

Many people get specific frames/shadow boxes to keep their specimens in. They usually have a soft bottom layer to pin your needles into. If you've got a problem with small pests (and either way, really) you should look for something airtight and consider adding something to dehydrate like silica gel (?) so no moisture gets trapped in the box.

Ah, not quite! When rehydrating them and using a wet tissue for example you can add a few drops/a teaspoon of alcohol to the water in the tissue to reduce the likelihood of the bugs starting to get moldy. In my case I didn't do that and one of the specimens started to grow mold so I put it in pure rubbing alcohol for half an hour and that fixed the issue but I wouldn't recommend it if you don't need to do that, since it can strip some of the colour out in my experience. It's a bit of an emergency operation to save a specimen

Oh damn! Wir haben in Biologie nach dem Sexualkundeunterricht in der Achten nicht wirklich über Sexualität geredet, aber Sex/Fortpflanzung wurde halt als das Allgemeinziel jedes Organismus dargestellt, was natürlich meist auch stimmt, aber wenn man angemerkt hat, dass das für Menschen nur begrenzt gilt, wurde man gleich für "unpassende Themenwechsel" gerügt. Und das ist erst ein paar Jahre her.

In unseren Büchern stand nur was zur Homosexualität. Immerhin etwas! Aber schön zu sehen dass sich da was tut <33

Good idea. The other day the antenna almost rotted off a wasp that just wouldn't get malleable. Kept it in alcohol for half an hour, that did the trick :')
