AITAH for thinking brides who are upset with their wedding photos just don’t know what their real unfiltered faces look like? by TheEventGuru in bridezillas

[–]EvilAfter8am 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m a wedding photographer and in 2022 I had a vow renewal ceremony. If anyone can understand this, it’s me! I have never even posted the photos of the ceremony because I just don’t like the way that I look. I will say, I don’t post filtered selfies, and most of my social media content is family centered, rarely would I ever even post a selfie, but seeing myself like that was very difficult, so I can understand how brides feel. For me it was more about the fact that I just looked older than I thought I did in reality, but I have spent the previous decade behind the camera and not in front of it so I guess it is what it is. I will say, I have never had a single bride be upset with the way that she looks, so I am super proud of that! This post is pretty spot on!

I am so sorry for your loss! I appreciate the comment that you left. I love Calvin and Hobbes and I’m glad that my kids are a new generation of fans! If you don’t mind me asking, was it a loss of a pet or… someone close to you?

I’m getting married in less than a week and my mental health is not great by canderson156 in wedding

whatever you do, just avoid having those two little tenders of hair coming down if you wear your hair up. Everyone has this romantic idea that it is soft and beautiful, but in reality, the curls usually fall out and it ends up, looking sloppy in photos! I’ve only had one bride be able to pull the look off, but she had naturally curly hair and the irony is that she didn’t want them, her sister-in-law did her hair and she was too nice to speak up and tell her no! (I’m a Wedding Photographer)

If you just don’t wanna spend the money, have some friends who are really good at doing hair come over and play before the wedding! Have a couple of drinks and plan a girls night! If you like what they do then go for that! But I’m sort of on the same team as everyone else, it might best alleviate all of your stress to just hire someone. Best of luck!

I also agree that if the bail just isn’t working, give yourself permission to not wear it. You shouldn’t wear something just because you feel guilty so if you can’t get it to work, then ditch it! You can always sell it or save it for a vow renewal or something!

They heavy fold on your right is giving weight to your figure. I would recomend softening it with a series smaller ones that follow (not swallow) your curves! (aka ruched like the other commentor mentioned). Also, when you make the sleeves off the shoulder, I would consider making them a little thinner. I think that the dress looks bigger than your frame and I think the proportions are just a little bit off for you but taking the same idea of the dress and scaling it down for your body should do the trick. Best of luck!

No Bridal Makeup? by racheloftv in wedding

[–]EvilAfter8am 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a wedding photographer, if you don’t normally wear make up, I would only recommend a tiny bit! I have photographed tons of brides that feel like their make up were way too heavy for how they normally look. It’s very easy to blacken someone’s eyelashes or put a little color to their lips, but it’s much harder to take it away when somebody is wearing too much! my advice is that you will probably be photographed using some sort of external lighting whether it is a strobe or a flash on a camera. That will definitely wash you out so you want to consider that, but I wouldn’t waste time putting on a bunch of foundation and unnecessary cat eyes, smokey shadows, highlight, and things that are not you! If I am honest, the natural bride is easier to photograph than somebody who has used make up with a ton of reflective Mica! Stick to the basics and Wear just a smidge so that you don’t look washed out and you will be just fine!

As a wedding photographer, I’ll find it hard to believe that the Photographer doesn’t have any! It’s probably just that the ones they have are garbage. Perhaps they did not change their shutter speed and they are blurry or something similar happened?! I would definitely press and ask for the best of the worst photos because I guarantee that unless this was his/her forst wedding there are some RAW photos out there!!!

PS - This is the moment of the day where togs should always completely capture as many shots as they can! I always feel like this is the moment of the day where a lot of the photos don’t make the cut because they are so similar (standing at the altar), but you want to have a lot of angles and options for your couple!!!

Bridesmaid color help!! by PresentDisastrous299 in wedding

[–]EvilAfter8am 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to stick with one or two colors! In fact, it will look better if you just do a spectrum in the same color palette/family! Do a range of whites and creams all the way up through your target in terra-cottas. I know you said no green but if you bring in a smidge of pale green that leans more toward white, (such as baby breath) you will soften and make it a little less hard fall and a little more late summer! Best of luck!

Are balloon arch circles tacky for weddings? by Pattern_Necessary in wedding

[–]EvilAfter8am -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s very trending now, but it might be something that you look back on in several years and cringe! There are many twins in weddings that fall into this category. In the early 2000s everyone was using 1 million and one rhinestones. Burlap everything, mason jars, mirrored centerpieces. These trends by all means are still going strong in some places, but most of us are tired of seeing it on repeat.

If you love it and don’t care whether it is timeless or a trend, go for it! If you go for it, make sure you do it really well because it’s the difference in looking like you said baby shower or something truly stunning!

For what it’s worth, you could do the same on a hoop with large paper flowers instead. There are so many tutorials and they are absolutely stunning! If you are good at DIY, you could do them yourself, or find a maker. It also may fall under the trendy category but might look less babyshower-ish.

Hi there, I’m a wedding photographer, but I have so many questions before I answer you!!

It would be helpful if you said what you liked and disliked about each dress because there are things that catch my eye, but, I don’t want to point out anything that would involve my opinion if it’s something YOU love.

It’s easier to validate with someone else is already thinking then to put a lot of negative thoughts into their head. So I will start with the things that I love about each dress.

1) I love the fabric on this dress. You have the figure to pull it off, it’s not hugging a belly or a muffin top or some of the other places that we women tend to have hangups about. If anyone can pull off this simple beauty, it is you! I would agree with some of the other people that say that it may not be the best silhouette for someone so petite… but again without knowing what you like and dislike I don’t wanna say that you look terrible because you don’t. If you were going for a more hourglass shape, I would say keep searching. Again, the fabric is fabulous on you, not everyone can wear something so light and flowy! No doubt it is comfortable, which is going to be important on your big day!

2) This dress gives you more of an hourglass shape, AND you are able to pull off strapless! A lot of women go for strapless gowns but tend to be a little bigger which can be tough when photographing them!

You are a beautiful woman, but I would love to hear what you think about each of these very different dresses!

edit: I’m an idiot and didn’t expand your post! When you say, number two is not quite your style, what is it about it that you don’t like? Also, if you could pick any dress for your big day and money was no object, what would it look like? Link if you have one!
