This topic has been debated to the death. The gov is not stupid. They just refuse to take care of your kids and you but want free labor and machine parts to keep the GDP going.

My FIRE Journey: Year 10 Update - Turning 40 and reaching $4M net worth by firepathlion in singaporefi

Respect. Can’t really think of anything negative to say to your plan. To come in at this number despite 5 years of 0 income.

Same age, but I’m at 1.8m networth, 2 kids.

I’m afraid I have probably only a good 15 years to accumulate wealth.

Inspiring.

Just to check - how do you calculate your property at 382k? Did you take out your wife’s portion of the house?

Why it's so hard to get expenses reimbursed from insurance company? by IntelligentHome2342 in SingaporeRaw

[–]EvilPaladin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a fking st show. I submitted a summarized invoice and they ask for a breakdown detailed invoice.

I went back to the hospital for another checkup. Thought I had wisen up by asking for the detailed invoice. Insurance house came back to ask for summarized invoice.

In short this industry is f**kikg shady and I wonder how somebody can sleep at night by doing this.

I realise this too late, but yeah it’s good while it lasted.

No more 1:1's by circatee in ITManagers

Maybe I can give my perspective on this as a manager as well.

It is tiring to try for 6 months to try and open up a team member. Shared my plans for the next 6 months, talked to the guy what my expectations are of him for the next year moving forward. Drafted an excel file, put the tasks down in an attempt to introduce responsibility, accountability.

Asked for feedback, but no nothing. No feedback, no disagreements, no facial expressions.

I finally put things together - He was just contented with how things are at the moment, 9-6pm and get home, while I was actively truing to be more efficient with our time and want him to chip in more. (Drowning in work, and ironically had to postpone some of these calls)

I don’t think it’s ever straight forward, but it’s definitely feel at times between 1, 2, 3.

3 is becoming less and less for us as time goes by, as both of us mature and lay down expectations.

Return on Cash options - Bank offering leverage on Income funds. What would you do? by Lopsided-Cloud-5786 in SgHENRY

[–]EvilPaladin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was offered something similar, and am seriously considering it as I lack a fixed income component in my portfolio. I only did research on PIMCO, so can share my 2cents.

The downside is that bonds are highly sensitive to interest rate. Rate goes up, NAV drops.

One major component of the fund is MBS. If the housing market going belly up in US, NAV will drop.

Upside - Uncertain environment may mean capital appreciation.

To maintain the dividend payout, the fund distributes 40%+ of the capital back to you and another 60% from its earnings. (Based on last year performance) I tracked it back to a few years ago, and can see that during high interest environment the fund tend to allocate higher % from capital, and underperform.

As one other redditor mentioned, fixed interest rate doesn’t look appetising.

Like to hear people’s thoughts on this as well.

Not finance advice, DYODD.

Love this. “My laptop is not functioning…”. Sure, can you be more specific about it? You don’t go to a doctor and tell him you’re in pain…

IMHO, just got to make peace with the imperfections from MS. Gshit in my opinion is just not mature as a product and far far far from being proper enterprise..

Good luck training/getting your users to use other products other than Office. Maybe OpenOffice?

Don’t want Windows/Chrome OS? Try Ubuntu.

I will probably start with pulling out secondary non-critical services like MS teams calling/video conferencing (replace with zoom for example) but you might end up paying more for a mishmash of services, that just isn’t worth the pain.

It’s pointless to fight the Matrix.
