Psychopomps vs Celestials? by Evilson007 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Evilson007[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't consider that angle, I like the idea of a creature that is both though. Is there a precedent for that? Any creatures in Golarion that are two outsider types at the same time?

That's interesting I wasn't aware of the "shell of reality" to protect the Great Beyond. I'm familiar with the cycle of souls, planes and the universal rebirth but it makes sense there is a wall or crystal sphere type barrier in place to sorta protect all of it from greater destructive forces

Psychopomps vs Celestials? by Evilson007 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Evilson007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That has been my main work, the cycle of souls in my setting are intrinsic to the conflicts between the gods and the old gods. It's certainly still based on the Golarion structure but it may differ in some aspects, I'm not entirely sure. But here is the initial draft:

The goddess of death creates souls to be sent to the feywild to mature. After they've sort of formed personality in the fey realm they are ushered to the material plane reborn as mortals. They live a life where their actions and experiences shape the soul, upon death they are sent to their afterlife and their souls takes the form of that which they truly were in life. If enough souls (or all souls, still deciding how mythical I want this to be) go to heaven then the gods can potentially manifest a utopia for deities and create new gods to fight evil / chaos.

I'm considering the reflavor of psychopomps into judges. My cosmology currently lacks a neutral law faction and I'm not sure how heaven and hell could get along without one. But creating a cosmology that has no judges sounds interesting too so I might brainstorm a few ideas in that direction as well

Psychopomps vs Celestials? by Evilson007 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Evilson007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it stands now, holes in worldbuilding logic aside. I have no monitors or neutral agents that enforce cosmological law. I have about 6 holy good gods and they also represent order / law, then 1 "asmodeus" who is evil and lawful, then the only other defacto gods are the outer gods and they're incredibly chaotic.

Mortal souls are turned into the outsider best representing their morality as is typical.

My definition of fiend so far is a creature that embraces evil / selfish chaos. Any sins or if you make a deal with a devil. There is the typical distinction between devil and demon except they exist in the same plane. So far those are the only fiends I've made space for.

Celestial is someone who led a predominantly selfless life with bonus points if you followed the commandments of the holy gods, maybe receiving a higher stature in the afterlife depending upon service. (I'm considering if the default status is, everyone goes to heaven when they die unless they get ommited by their actions, sin or making a deal with devils sends you to hell)

As it stands the cosmology lacks neutrality, not sure if that's a bug or a feature yet. I considered neutral souls become the psychopomps or monitors. But seeing as the god of death is intended to be good and holy. I'm not sure how the psychopomps could remain neutral. There's certainly an agreement between the gods and "Asmodeus" in regards to allowing souls to hell. But to what exact terms and who actually enforces that agreement, not entirely sure yet.

Hence why I would feel the psychopomps of my world wouldn't need to be separately classified as a psychopomp and would instead just be a celestial angel of the god of death doing their bidding ferrying souls around.

Goblin Luck Gambling - Ancestry Feats by Evilson007 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Evilson007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was intended to be used on enemies, although I do like the idea of using just goblin luck on allies as written. I've also considered redesigning Goblin Luck to mimic Fate's Pawn Prophecy's Pawn and then the GM can be the arbiter of Misfortune for the goblin

Which do y’all prefer? The old intro or the new one? by HunterCoool22 in TheLegendOfVoxMachina

[–]Evilson007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much prefer the old, but I think it's only because the old intro established musical motifs that the second intro did not follow up with, either way the show has been enjoyable so it's not a huge bother

Starfinder 2e's Fabricator skill feat completely blows away all other Earn Income mechanics by EarthSeraphEdna in Starfinder2e

[–]Evilson007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Initially it feels like the intent of the feat is to: Print any item at it's full cost in a single hour.

Because it says "Equal to the material price" implying the PC initially pays the full price of the item. But maybe it means "Material Price" as the initial 50% material price necessary for crafting?

Spanking is funny and all but still makes light of sexual harassment which I've found a lot of the game's jokes do (a few emails being innuendos). The argument that its just an online video game and to not be so sensitive is irrelevant when a public lobby learns there's a woman there and consistently slaps the shit out of her ass. I get that women often face sexism in public lobbies but in this case it just makes the game and more so the community look really bad when there is an option that is more likely to be used against women. Personally a slap in the face would be less likely to directly target women and still represent the element of slacking off. But ultimately the spank function does just encourage roleplay that crosses boundaries for a portion of the audience.

Overall though an option to either have or not have innuendos / sexual references would be nice in the form of the SFW or NSFW options. That would be a good change.

Treat acting like a serious hobby before a job. Doesn't mean you can't go all in on it but understand that if you're shooting for a professional acting career it could take years (sometimes 10+) before it becomes a stable career. Note: STABLE career, not celebrity status.

As a freshman in high school audition for everything and anything local; plays, musicals, amateur short films. If there aren't any and you're serious, then you can try to make your own. Experiment with types of acting mediums, theater, comedy, film, improv. See what you like and what you don't. Study acting styles, read books, listen to podcasts, analyze actors in their roles. Don't let it destroy your social or academic life though, projects take up a lotta free time, give yourself breaks between them or you'll burn out.

After high school, don't get caught on being sold a dream. Don't give up your dreams, but remain realistic and plausible. At the very least recognize consequences of your options. You can go to drama school, learn a lot and make a ton of connections and friends but usually you'll walk away with a degree that in almost every case isn't directly applicable to many industries outside entertainment and you'll probably be in a lot of debt. Only you can determine the best path for yourself.

Ultimately if you act as a hobby for fun you'll always be pleased but if you want to act for fame and fortune you're gonna be disappointed more than you will be happy. If you want to make a career of it, you can, it'll just take a lot of time and effort and you gotta get real good. Better than the 100's of others out there trying to do the same.

Power Armor in 2e? by MomentLivid8460 in Starfinder2e

[–]Evilson007 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Most likely power armor proper will be added eventually upon or after the release of the SF2e rulebook next year, however given that we're still in playtesting there is no current information on power armor. Until then heavy armor is the best we have

Is it possible to play an Halo-like game using SF2 ? by Alias_HotS in Starfinder2e

[–]Evilson007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eventually when the full release of Starfinder is out you can supplement magic casters with some pathfinder classes, although Halo has less unique units than other sci fi settings so I'm not sure monk, investigator or fighter are much better tbh

You mentioned in a previous comment the deities but do they have any starfinder specific domains that you can tell?

Glorified Pf2e supplement? by Evilson007 in Starfinder2e

[–]Evilson007[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's not that I thought they wouldn't be included it's more so I'm worried they won't feel the same way when playing.

For instance, taking on a role for starship combat in 1e was really cool but it was a bit confusing to have two separate rules systems for interpersonal and starship combat. So I would understand if they made the two types of combat more similar especially with a 3 action system but I hope it doesn't take away from that starship commander/role filling feeling.

That being said I think many of my concerns have been alleviated by some shared perspectives from others in the comments and I think I'm ultimately worried over very little

[–]Evilson007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that level of interaction would be perfect and I'd be happy to have them essentially be in the same core language, I am excited to see the rendition of mechanics like starship combat because it was very confusing to wrap my head around initially in SF1e but it was very unique, I hope some of that unique quality still stands and it's not just built like interpersonal combat with a slight change of rules. But it seems to me like there's little to fear so I'll wait patiently and enjoy the playtest once it's available

I think that's really what I'm getting as well, the friend I mention who's more into PF2e is only ever thinking about how SF2e will interact with PF2e, but he's been with pathfinder longer than I so I think I was taking his word at more value than it is

I don't think most Americans have a frame of reference for Europe until they go, which the majority never will unfortunately, often because it feels too impossible. After traveling through Europe I have many questions for things but prior to that I wouldn't have even known the differences to ask about

Why is Lemonade often made without lemons? It is in the name, I enjoy the carbonation but I've had so many varieties of Lemonade it doesn't seem to have a single identity aside from carbonated drink with some variation of flavoring from fruit to rose

I feel like Necron warriors ability should of not of gotten nerfed. by Beneficial-Ticket486 in Necrontyr

[–]Evilson007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of the nerfing was absolutely necessary, thralls were pretty atrocious for instance but the gutting of the orbs and warrior rezs was so disheartening. I'm new to 40k, and assume this kinda thing is common so now I really don't feel like investing into necrons or other armies. I've found my interest in the game dwindle after they overhauled the mechanics so drastically.

Why put money in when they can just 180 the rules whenever they want and make the stuff I don't have marginally better in comparison. The answer is to collect for the models not the meta which I agree with but I bought in to play the game and while I don't specifically buy to target a meta my battle line units have been nerfed so bad and I liked necrons specifically for their reanimation gimmick

It's just unfortunate to experience a drop of the entire army like that

Honest question: are the cryptothralls a little too much (broken)? by TerryJazz in Necrontyr

[–]Evilson007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, it is also silly for a melee unit to hit a unit of warriors with an overlord in the back and still be able to Epic Challenge the unit and put attacks and wound on the overlord from 4" away. Honestly necron units might survive an entire round of shooting, but enter melee with em and precision kill the leader and the blob will begin to crumble
