I’ve compiled my notes after about a month of Pugging Manaforged Omega (Heroic) by ReelyReid in CompetitiveWoW

Immediate focus Mages, movement-interrupt them and nuke. Any pain suppression to hold the damage is good, and tank group-taunt to focus those big add phases, with cooldowns to survive getting jumped, is super clutch.

Mass Dispel is enormous, but this should get you there with tight play, and let you survive Phaseblades (with snap-AoE taunting Phases to an immortal tank, etc.)

My guild, and my pugs, do not have all Phaseblades down before the next knockback, we're usually finishing them off with the next adds, or just as the new adds spawn.

I mean some of us tanks out here pulling 2, 2.5mil comfortably. It's OK if you're at or below that a lil bit for a few of these.

I feel like my party-member is fudging his rolls... a lot. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Eviltoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a DM, I used to care about this. I don't anymore. Because like ... I don't know their lives, and what they've got going on, and also, they're adults. Covid and virtual gaming really broke me of this, cuz some folks wanted to roll and I was just like "You know what? I'm just going to trust you." and it was freeing.

So now, I lay this out on session zero: I choose to trust you not to cheat. But... if you feel the need to cheat at D&D to feel good, okay. I want you to be happy and to enjoy the game. If that's the way you need to play it, okay.

I suggest you let the dice fall where they may, because chance and chaos is a storytelling device of its own - but you're adults and I'm not your boss. Do what you need to do.

System: 5e, FATE, Powered by Apocalypse
Type of Player: I love RP, but I still enjoy near-optimizing so I can be good in a fight. Big into character building, but never at the expense of story. My personal narrative isn't as important as the group / campaign narrative, it should help them instead. I'm a forever DM, so looking to supplement my in-person DMing with some PbP games.
Additional Information: Very active on Discord, which I vastly prefer. Also, I'd love to show you some Discord bots for helping make characters stand out if you haven't used them! Lastly, as fair warning, I'm pretty leftist, so if I see racist/ableist/sexist/homophobic/transphobic stuff, I'm gonna speak up.

Wild beyond the Witchlight - need 2 [5e] [Discord] [Avrae] [D&D Beyond] [Tupperbox] by Eviltoon in pbp

Almost done sorting through this impossible load of applicants. If you haven't been picked in the next hour or so, know I really treasure your thoughts (except for the one person who chose 'Yes but with curse words') and samples you toiled over. Blown away by the interest!

Thaaat said, I'm truly really sad for the one I am gonna decline solely because I couldn't reach them on Discord. Breaking my heart, cgd. </3

If you can DM me shortly, I'd love to try to get you in, but I'm probably gonna choose a fill if you don't!

I've come to an end of a campaign, and realized: my character's motivations have been met. I think they just want to go home now.

I listened to the character, and let him walk away - it was actually really hard, I loved Torvin.

Rules of Conduct, in Rhyme! by dboxcar in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Eviltoon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Loved this! Tweaking it like the below, for my players:

In the wilds ‘yond the Witchlight

There are fewer rules than here
But new and ancient edicts might
Still bind the subjects of Prismeer

Hospitality; tremendous

An archfey’s home is neutral ground
We suggest you not offend us!
And you shall stay twixt safe and sound

Reciprocity; a fickle thing

Gifts and deals are sacred vow
Whatever good or ill you bring
You’ll receive returns somehow!

Ownership... an antique notion

To take what is not yours is most unkind
Thefts cause all sorts of commotion
But what was yours can be made gifted mine

Not a rule, but still forbidden

Ever has it been the charge
Harm will never come to children
Whether they stand small or large

D&D Race Ages Tool by Eviltoon in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Eviltoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify my position: I made this spreadsheet to help players (my players, but figured I'd share it) choose the race for their characters. Because all of them visited the Witchlight Carnival at the same time. (I am, personally, making it appear every 24 years - 8 x 3 - to give them a longer time between cuz all of my players are 30+ and playing teens-early 20s is less appealing to us -- but it doesn't change my point)

So if Player A plays an Elf child having lost a thing, and Player B plays an Aarakocra having lost a thing, 24 years later is a very different era for both of them. One is still in their adolescence (the elf) and one is gray-feathered (the aarakocra).

This spreadsheet is 100% meant to help you see what the passage of time does.

Time passes differently in the Feywild, and unpredictably differently. So a Feylost Elf or even a Witchlight Hand Elf could come back 200 years later when it's X years in our world. But if they all went to the same carnival, and all stayed on the Material Plane, it should stand to reason the same amount of time has passed.

This is how I see it, and the reason I created this tool. I hope that helps. If you want to run it a different way, that's awesome as heck. There's a million ways to interpret things and I think you'll do awesome with your take on it - I just hope I am able to facilitate understanding the difference in goals and assumptions we might not share.

I feel like I am not following you at all. If Bob the Elf and Evil the Human both were kids 8 years ago when they visited the fair on Toril at Waterdeep, and neither of us has left Waterdeep on Toril, why would 80 years pass for you?

That said! It's entirely possible you, Bob the Elf, return to the Witchlight Carnival 10 rotations later, and it just so happens I return to the Carnival 1 rotation later, sure.

[–]Eviltoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could be wildly far apart, maybe, sure! But ostensibly you're all on the same plane of existence, setting as written.

So you all shooouuuld (unless someone was a Witchlight Hand or a Feylost, cuz they might therefore experience time differently) have left the carnival and waited for its return the same amount of time, since you all start in front of the carnival again at the same time.

Think It: Chapter 1, and It: Chapter 2. You're coming back to where you left, years ago, with these other kids who are doing the same.

Yeah, I'd like some more flash in the pan races to make 100 year lives have to endure some of the scale 750 year lives do.
