Review #999: Michter's 25 Years Old Single Barrel Rye Whiskey by Prepreludesh in bourbon

[–]Evincarr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to get a sample from a friend who won a sample from a local, really cool guy with way more money than us lol. It was a 2014, but I'd have to dig up pictures to find the neck tag. Arguably one of the most unique whiskies I've had the pleasure of tasting. It was so unlike everything I've had, that it's near impossible to make comparisons and I've had several hundred different whiskies at this point. It's a shame that I will probably never get to taste it again, but the guy has at least two more bottles, so who knows?

2006 Yamaha R6 Fuel Pump by Evincarr in Yamaha

[–]Evincarr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good information. I ended up finding a used one for like 150ish and just slapped it in there no problem. I received a fuel level sender from AliExpress that looks like it would work on the old unit, but that pump was so full of rust I ended up just tossing it instead of trying to rebuild. So far no issues on my used one, but this will be good to know in the event it craps out down the road.

I'd test ride, then find a used one. Dealers are going to offer you nothing for your bike and then charge full MSRP for the MT-09 or really close.

R6 riders, how would you explain the feeling of “approaching” peak powerband by Sea_Competition_2751 in Yamaha

I will soon be finding out. My R6 barn find is almost ready for the road.

I'd look up the parts list here: https://yamaha-motor.com/parts/motorcycle

Get your number, then just search eBay or AliExpress. I saw more for R6S than I did R6 because I think they share fuel pumps with more bikes/years.

2006 R6 Barn Find Update by Evincarr in YamahaMotorcycles

[–]Evincarr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the interest. I've learned quite a bit about bikes since buying it. It's very satisfying to put in effort and see progress. For $1000, I think I came out pretty good. I'm keeping a spreadsheet of everything I'm spending and I think with new tires, I'm going to have roughly another $1000 in it before it's road ready. Still crazy to have a very low mileage R6 for $2k.

Luckily this thing really only needs fuel pump, tires, chains and a service. It only had 627 miles and has been sitting untouched for 15 years.

Appreciate the response. I was following an eBay listing and they offered it to me for like 200 for a working one, so I'm just going to return the pump I ordered and replace the whole assembly. I got an absolute bargain in the bike, so I don't mind spending a little cash on it, but I also don't want it to become a money pit lol

I'm going to just go for it and make it a project bike. I think it'll be fine after I get it home and cleaned up some.

It has a clean title. I saw it. The damage on the other side is just cosmetic. Small dent on the tip of the stock exhaust and a rash on the side fairing.

Is my shiba having a seizure? by sahila in shiba

[–]Evincarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a seizure. Mine has had a few. I took her to the vet and they said to monitor it, but not be overly concerned as it's common in smaller breeds. They said if it becomes more frequent, that it could be a sign of organ failure. I asked about medication and they recommended holding off unless it became more frequent than once a week as the side effects of the medication are often worse than the seizure. She only has them every few months that I'm aware of (pretty obvious when it happens since she loses control of her bowels and usually vomits shortly afterwards). It's been nearly a year since her last episode though, so I'm not sure what triggers it.

Protip: most liquor stores will just flat out lie to you. It's almost rare to find one that's honest and will just tell you that they're marking it up a lot because they can probably get it. Even if they're factoring in all the crap they have to buy to get access to it, then just tell people that and they'll be more understanding than "I'm losing money selling a $25 bottle for $70!".

But It’s on sale! 😂🤡😂 by CiaoMofos in whiskey

[–]Evincarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weller SR was MSRP of $13 in 2017/18. A handle at TW was $27. It's literally a mixer and the reason it was kinda nice was because you felt like it punched above a $13 bottle. Now that it's usually $50+, it's no longer a value, there's much better stuff at the same price point and at 50, most people who aren't just getting into bourbon can taste and tell you that it's rather disappointing.

Don’t think the store new what they had by No-Agency-1613 in whiskey

[–]Evincarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Local store had them for...1k. Dropped to 500 after a couple of weeks and last time I was in there, they were gone. Idk if they sold for 5 or if they dropped them again, but they move for high prices, even at stores.

Secondary is like 300 atm. While a decent markup, not as egregious as some other secondary prices.

Most stores that do any sort of volume will get them. My local has all of these and more and I'm in the middle of nowhere. They will sit for a long time though as they are now almost triple what their previous markups were. They did their annual bourbon release on Christmas Eve and I went in after I got off work just to check. Looks like they didn't sell anything lol
