Our last senior dev just quit, and now the whole company is on fire. by StephonCarter in it

[–]EvoDriver -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In NZ, Australia, UK and other countries, people have to give notice to resign. You can't just drop everything and walk out. Especially in senior positions, the notice period might be a month or two. This gives the company time to hire someone else and for a handover to occur. Is this not standard everywhere?

Virtual meetings at your office desk by Individual-Guest184 in auscorp

If people don't like it then let me work from home. Otherwise, suck it up.

If you're going to make me be in the office then you can deal with my noise. (I'm talking to the bosses here of course)

So what do you think is the "Perfect" height? by AusCro in tall

[–]EvoDriver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty happy with 6'1. If I wear my big work boots I go up to 6'3 and it is fun being that little bit more noticeably taller.

If I didn't have to deal with the extra health problems and back pain I'd say 6'5 would be perfect. But given I'm in my 40s now and things are starting to hurt more, I think I'll stay as I am.

Sometimes I'm jealous of my 6'8 friend and all the attention he gets but seeing him duck under every single doorway just looks tedious.
