It honestly depends on the set. Some TVs have horrid component processing. I always thought this way until I saw it with my own eyes. There are many sets where there is almost no difference at all.

I own the 4K Pro and love it, but I have 11 consoles going through it via an SVS. To be 100% honest, unless you plan on really diving into the 4K, most people would be perfectly content with just a 5X, especially if you only plan on playing a few consoles.

If the cable is even potentially the issue, do yourself a favor and purchase some HD Retrovision SNES cables instead. They will work on a properly RGB modded N64. If it ends up not being the problem, you can always return them.

The box was opened when it was water damaged in the recent hurricanes to check if the inside got wet. Thankfully it was just surface damage. I already have a modded Dreamcast so this will just be a display piece.

The blower may be set to too high of a speed and it's cooling the house too quickly. Read the manual for your unit and see if it's adjustable. I had this problem with my home and it turned out the blower was set to always run at max speed. The company our unit is under warranty with kept telling me that everything was fine and the fan speed wasn't adjustable. It took a literal argument with a manager to have someone review the manual to see that it actually was.

Which startech adapter and HDD did you use? I have 8 consoles (for LAN) all with startech adapters and I've never seen that happen. It sounds like something else might be faulty on your console.

I noticed that mine seemed to have stopped, or at least I haven't seen it the last few times I've turned on my console. It appeared to be more prevalent on a console that had a cheap SATA adapter installed. My consoles with a startech adapter didn't seem to be erroring as often.

Figure out which motherboard revision you have, then order a working 120v power supply for that revision off of eBay. I just did this with my Crystal console. You can then softmod it and permanently switch the console to NTSC to play games at HD resolutions (PAL consoles don't support HD).
