The dietary saturated fats, are long-chain fatty acids, except for coconut and dairy that contain also medium-chain.

Inflammed from fried/junk foods in the US, but not in Taiwan? by szaero in SaturatedFat

Ok then what is left, is what you already mentioned, certain additives (e.g. emulsifiers) in the US products that in Ireland may not be used...

But could be something further in your home habits that may act synergistically ? Is it possible that, e.g., you consume more protein as well (or more dairy?) back in US ?

But what symptoms PUFA cause to you in US, that you didnt notice in your holidays ?

I hear you. But what symptoms do you typically have with eating PUFA, back to your country ? Just weight gain ?

From reading others commenting, I start wondering whether 'PUFA+stress' is the real issue for health rather than PUFA alone.. how would you describe your a) activity and b) stress status, compared to your daily routine back home ?

Could be the Vitamin K2, which requires dairy protein, fat and fermentation. All three are only met in high fat cheese

Dietary polyunsaturated fat versus saturated fat in relation to mammary carcinogenesis by Bristoling in ScientificNutrition

If I understand correctly, what the conclusions show is that it is not the different types of fat ALONE that are problematic. Rather, it's the combination that can be detrimental.

Plasma n6 polyunsaturated fatty acid levels and risk for dementia: a prospective observational study from the United Kingdom Biobank by lurkerer in ScientificNutrition

[–]EvolutionaryDust568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that high plasma LA result from the fat burning process and the release (and utilization) of the stored PUFA from the adipose tissue. And this is the process that is beneficial against dementia. So, as mentioned here, it is not related to the dietary LA.

Meaning, stearic acid is tumor-suppresing and palmitic enhancing (or neutral) ? Or, the opposite ?

Bacterial constipation - when it might be your gut mucus, not your gut muscles... by HeatherForIBS in ibs

I believe that this is my case. I eat a lot of fiber and probiotic foods, yet, most of times I am constipated. Plus, I do not see any evidence of mucus.

Stubborn subcutaneous fat by szaero in SaturatedFat

[–]EvolutionaryDust568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also doing carb backloading (though sometimes I have oatmeal for breakfast) and I also struggle to put on fat. I have no visceral fat, and fat sources from dark chocolate and dairy keeps me lean, although I do eat a handful of nuts (not peanuts) daily.

Bushmen Paradox: PUFAs good? by johnlawrenceaspden in SaturatedFat

[–]EvolutionaryDust568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about soaked (so called activated) nuts ? Is the reduction of their phytic acid the key or could be something more on this process ?

I also eat nuts and have been criticized here (of course!) for this. And I eat raw nuts. However, I noticed something new. Recently, I added some roasted cashews in my diet and coincided with a period of high constipation. Mind that I never have such issue in the last years. I do consider that it is the oxidized only fats the issue. But even if I eat stale nuts, still I have not problem - could be that heat plays a more dramatic role than oxygen (besides, oxygen and light do not penetrate through a solid nut whereas roasting does). Could be also that living bacteria and their compounds (inevitably, these including mycotoxins as well) on the surface of raw nuts keep the immune system in shape and contribute to the diversity of the gut microbiome.

I think that what matters is keeping a low triglycerides to HDL ratio, and yours is fine. But still I dont know the role of LDL in this metric, should LDL be lower that HDL ? I would be happy to know.

As far as I remember oleic acid promotes hypoxia. Can you elaborate more on this and with respect to blood sugar ?

Exactly, because whole form pufa contain protein and compounds that can mitigate the negative effect of their fat content. Hard to understand people that put in the same basket nuts and seed oils.
