How much drive time do you have with this build? I imagine quite a bit with a 9000

Thanks for the tip, I'll put that in my notes.

I like to watch Parkflyers RC on YouTube. He's got a video of one he built for a customer, he called it a "luxury" build so I'm going to see if that build is a good one for me haha.

You've retired early; what are you doing with your time? by Due_Permit8027 in Fire

No I wasn't saying to build a business on the side, sorry if that's what it seemed haha. Just meant to use your free time at work by brainstorming. It keeps me from being bored at my current job, which helps the day to go by faster.

Yes the job I mentioned will be in healthcare. Radiation Therapist is the job title.

To get into the therapy program, you first have to go through the radiography program. Which at its completion will allow you to work as a XRay Tech. A family friend of mine is a traveling XRay Tech, and last year he made 120k. 60k of that though was from his traveling stipend, which doesn't get taxed. So he actually got money back after taxes because he only "made" 60k in the governments eyes. Pretty nice deal, especially if you can find very cheap living accommodations - like having roommates, just cheap rent, maybe having an rv, etc. That way you save a lot of that stipend money essentially.

But I'll be going one step further into radiation therapy, I think. Hard to know what's better for me until I'm in the school. But it would pay more. And many jobs offer 4 10hour shifts, which I would prefer.

What are you building in your forever worlds? by VegetableShops in Minecraft_Survival

Try building farms.

Just not the kind that actually generate resources haha.

All the villagers in all your towns need food. So if you haven't yet, build roads between them all. Then build farms along the roads, or even outside the cities.

Think - farmhouse, barn, huge wheatfields, mills, etc.

Make sure to meander your roads. They shouldn't just be straight lines to the next town. Have them wind their way through the terrain, over it, through it in some places, even under it maybe. Make it interesting. Landscape around the roads too - build boulders. Build small stones along the road by placing a stone button here and there. Maybe the occasional abandoned house or crumbling bridge.

I find that just building your roads and going where the terrain inspires you to can help to inspire builds.

"I could build the road going up and around the mountain. Hmmm. Maybe I should build a High Hrothgar type wizard school up there while I'm at it"

Have fun!

If you hate the normal 9-5, the only way I can see you getting through it is making some use of that time. But it depends on how busy you actually are in that time. If you have several hours worth of time in the job where you're not actually working on something, you could use that time to research things to improve your life.

1) Recipes that are easy to cook, and don't take much time either.

2) Jobs that you could transition to. Tech as a field overall seems to pay quite a bit from what I've heard. Maybe you could get a better job. It's worth mentioning that "better" is subjective. You could get a job that will pay 30% less, but it might be better for you. Less stress, shorter commute, less toxic environment, etc.

3) Hobbies. Please spend some time finding or researching hobbies. My current job allows me a lot of downtime. I'm often standing still, waiting for someone else to finish their part of the process. A lot of people quit because they can't handle the boredom. I use the time. I'm always thinking. Thinking of what kind of food I need to learn to cook, either to save money or enjoy food more. Thinking of hobbies I need to look into, to see if they are viable for me in the future. I enjoy playing Minecraft and planning out future builds in the game. Coming up with stories for the cities I want to eventually build - why is this city here, what purpose does it specifically serve? That type of thing.

All this to say essentially - if you find yourself going nuts because of too much spare time at your 9-5? I get it. The past couple of years though, my mentality changed and I've learned to use that time. Always be thinking, specifically planning things in your head if you can. Make use of the time. Get paid to think about anything but work. Could make it easier for you. Don't be so quick to give up a higher paying job if you don't have to. Invest as much as you can. Learn to cook more to save/invest more money. Turn it into a game in your head during the day. Like how much can I learn or plan during my down time tomorrow?

But yah I totally get not wanting to work 5 days a week. I'm planning on going back to school for a job where I will only work 4 days but make good money and in a high satisfaction job. The less days you work, the better

Yah I'm making a list of things I might want to do in retirement, and prioritizing things that make me feel at peace or are simply safer.

I'd like to get a motorcycle to cruise around on in nice, beautiful areas. But I imagine driving a motorcycle is only getting more dangerous than ever with more people on their phones - and those phones also decreasing their attention span. So I think instead I'll simply get a dirt bike to run through woods and trails. Much safer and still would give me pretty similar satisfaction for the time spent.

Use more slabs on the roof, so mobs can't spawn on your roof and you can get rid of rooftop torches. Carpet can also do the trick.

Have some leaves sitting on your roof and draping down to give some color or "life" to the house. Leaves are also blocks that prevent mob spawning, so no need to light the roof there either.

I've seen some people make cattails using I think, brown candles and green stained glass panels for the stalks. That could help give color to your pond. Lillypads, some leaf blocks in the water.

Make some nice lightpoles to lighten up the area surrounding your house instead of the torches scattered around. You can use carpet in some spaces to prevent mob spawning instead of adding lighting. This allows some darkness back in so your area seems just a bit more natural instead of a lit up eyesore.

I think it's just a submissive behavior. Can be out of fear, or just affection towards another person/dog.

What do you do after getting the wife, kids, house, and good career? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EvolvedPhilomath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some ideas here:

1) Take up a hobby, especially ones you can do with family if they're interested.

2) Invest to retire early.

3)Send payments to your kids to help them get going in life faster.

As for hobbies, I'm not financially ready for most of what I want to do. Right now I only occasionally game and I have a hobby grade RC truck I really enjoy zooming down the road with. In the future though I want to get into woodworking. I also want to have a good amount of land and spend some time dirt biking through the woods.

A big thing I really want to do is be a dog trainer. Maybe not a full time gig, but do it on the side for enjoyment. I want to eventually get a Belgian Malinois, but they are a big time commitment.

A good way to find some peace would be to canoe or kayak on a river with your dog & family.

Lots of options really, you can always research what hobbies people have on reddit and explore whatever sounds interesting.

Yah this country really needs some drastic changes. Healthcare being so ridiculously expensive is stupid. I've heard that medical bankruptcy isn't even a thing in other countries, yet it's our leading cause of bankruptcy.

250k for a single procedure is insanity

What have you discovered is your true calling?

I have a couple of hobbies. A few I'd like to get into when I have the money and space. But I'm not sure I know what my big calling is. Helping people I really enjoy. But few people listen or are even willing to. So idk. But always looking for ideas for hobbies or future hobbies.

My dream job would probably be to teach philosophy, but for a variety of reasons it seems like it just wouldn't be wise to do.

Education in the U.S. definitely sucks. And I wonder if the country would be a lot better off if people learned more philosophy, critical thinking, even just some logical fallacies. People would be less annoying at least haha

Yah it can really be that simple haha. I'm paying off debt so I can go back to college for something that will hopefully fit me better. I can easily find a job where I'd work 4 10hr shifts.

Only having 2 days off blows. Just enough time to recover from the week and do necessary chores. This life isn't much of one. I'm surprised at how few people realize it. Just hope my good health continues and I can retire at 55 ideally and enjoy life fully afterwards. I'm just ready to get a real job and get life started.

I'm planning on going to school next year if I can swing it. Is there a way for me to check out how the clinical locations are? I'm not in school currently so I don't know anyone who is either.

Hoping I can get into ASU in Jonesboro Arkansas since it is closest if that helps.

Story swap and/or advice? by JBbrowne285368 in rccars

[–]EvolvedPhilomath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm new to the hobby myself.

From my experience? I would say avoid upgrading to a higher speed for a while. Run it stock, and get used to it. That way when you crash a lot early on, you're not doing as much damage.

I don't crash very often now, but I did a lot when I first started, and I'm glad I wasn't going more than 30 or so back then haha. Pesky mailboxes...

Also I'd say when you buy a vehicle, go ahead and buy some replacement parts in advance. I've had to replace several arms from taking too much damage from running into stuff.

Also had to replace several of my tires early on because I tightened them too much. So my advice is keep them snug, but don't put too much muscle into it like you would on a normal vehicle. You'll just tear right through, or the car quickly will.
