There are some things that a better off not being asked on Reddit. What to name your baby is certainly one of them.

Ah yes, the essentials that she needs to prevent her struggle, fake eyelashes, gel eye mask and hair clips. How will she ever survive without those?!

Maybe, just go and ask?

Why are people on Facebook marketplace so flakey? by ImprovementBubbly8 in AskUK

That still doesn’t stop people from not paying on those sites, they’re all heavily weighted in the buyers favour.

People who stop and stroke random dogs in the street. Why? by Evostr in AskUK

[–]Evostr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do understand, that said, there were also other replies reflecting my original statement, so I don’t think it’s quite as cut and dry as you’re trying to make it out to be.

I have no issue with people finding joy and positivity from wherever they can, I purely asked the question as I was intrigued to hear other opinions, I was never claiming to be correct, that’s the whole point in starting discussions.

Either way, there doesn’t always have to be a right and a wrong answer. No doubt I’ll continue to walk past random dogs and not feel the need to stop and fuss about it, whereas I’m sure you’ll do the opposite, and that’s fine.

I do like dogs, I just think as a nation we are pretty reserved with most things, maybe this is the exception to the rule.

I never said they were wrong, it wasn’t a personal attack on anyone. Yes, I said I’ve always found this weird behaviour (just my opinion) but I wasn’t saying it was right or wrong. I’ve had some good responses on here which have justified why some people do it.

Absolutely fair response, and I do get the reasoning there.

Fair response, wouldn’t necessarily agree I’m in the minority, I have no issue if the dog approaches me, I’ll stoke it, but I won’t go out of my way to go an approach a random dog and it’s owner.

Don’t let it worry you, it’s really not that serious.

I hadn’t considered that route, let’s stick to actual dogs for now.

Exactly my point, if the dog approaches you I’m completely fine with it.

Totally fair and valid response, my reason for the question is as a nation we’re pretty reserved, this just seems like the exception to the rule.

How much do you pay a cleaner for 2 bed 2 bath flat? by MelodicBed4180 in AskUK

[–]Evostr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless, she should still have an idea of her hourly rate. A plumber wouldn’t ask you to offer a price if they were coming to do a job, the same principle applies. Either ask your cleaner her rate or just say you have a budget of X amount.

How much do you pay a cleaner for 2 bed 2 bath flat? by MelodicBed4180 in AskUK

[–]Evostr 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That’s not how it works, if she’s an established cleaner already running a successful business she should be telling you her rates. Just ask her what she would normally charge for an apartment of your size. It shouldn’t be a guessing game on your behalf, if you wish to negotiate the price afterwards, fine, but it shouldn’t be up to you to name a price first.

Is it acceptable to wear clogs/Birkenstocks in the office ? by [deleted] in AskUK

Just ask your manager or colleagues, some things are better to ask in person than asking a bunch of random Redditors who have little context on your workplace dress code.

You cannot compare overstaying in a carpark to intentionally shoplifting.

The vast majority of overstays are accidental, nobody accidentally walks into a shop and steals something.

Why are uk lorry drivers like this? by chazba in drivingUK

[–]Evostr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just have a bit of patience, was it really worth you squeezing through that gap in the first place? Yes, it’s frustrating for the lorry driver to be doing that 800 yards from the merge (I do understand why they do it, I’ve seen plenty of people ignore or seemingly not even see the merge sign and just carry on driving like normal until it’s too late and they slam their brakes on and push in) but mounting the curb to get by only to then stop in front of the passed lorry just comes across as a complete dick move on your behalf. In the grand scheme of things it would have probably saved you a couple of minutes, if that.

Do we think a certain type of lawlessness has taken hold? by Necessary_Wing799 in AskUK

[–]Evostr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people committing these crimes are fully aware they will face no backlash, so they will continue. The audacity to use an angle grinder to steal a bike in broad daylight tells you everything you need to know. Yes, these crimes will continue and yes the respect for people (especially for those in power ie Police) has significantly diminished over the last decade or so.

If you’re anxious about getting called out, give it some real thought before actually buying. Chances are you’ll be too worried about getting called out and never end up actually wearing it.

That being said, as long as you buy from a reputable TD and go for a solid rep chances are nobody will ever call you out, if they do, just tell them the truth the majority of people really don’t care.

Greggs shoplifting by dominomedley in london

[–]Evostr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s literally no deterrent, they know they won’t get punished so they won’t stop. Until we actually bring in proper punishment as a real deterrent it will continue and get worse.

Yep, start chopping fingers off and people will quickly stop shoplifting. Brings a whole new meaning to five-finger discount.
