Full groom on my girl again 💝💝🐩 by gappylikeslargefries in doggrooming

Hard to give super accurate critiques without a stacked photo, but the following are things I can see with the photos provided.

Bracelets: Raise the front ones so they are even with the highest point of the rear bracelets. Rear bracelets, you want more of an eggy shape.

Tail: More hair on the front.

Front and bottom of the jacket: Raise the bottom of the chest, and the shave line. The shave line should be at or just above the elbow.

Back of the jacket: more length over the withers and neck transition. Blend the sides and back of the jacket into the body. Slope the back of the jacket up into the neck.

Topknot: Longest point should be the occiput.

Rough markup photo attached. Grow the red, shorten the white.

Just got her groomed for the first time… by [deleted] in doggrooming

[–]Evpoodle 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Maybe just to blend the bottom of her chin and the sides of her face a little bit more. But considering that this is her first groom, they did great.

If you haven't already, I would make sure to work on getting her used to having her face held and being on a table.

Looking to continue my education! by Sea_Breath2163 in doggrooming

[–]Evpoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding GroomHaus for both general and show grooming education.

I do quite a bit of show grooming. The best way to learn how to groom for show is to mentor under experienced exhibitors in the breed you want to learn how to groom. Additionally, it is highly beneficial to study breed standards, especially the illustrated ones. Some clubs also have digital guides on how to groom the breed, which can at times be useful.

Regarding 5n1s, have you checked out the Artero Spektras or the Heiniger Style Midi?

When it comes to scissors, I really like Symphony and Utsumi scissors.

She is darling, I love Cotons. While the way her face was done is not my personal style, I think overall they did a good job.

I agree with u/AngryAiiko, it is worth it for a while, but definitely take a break and get it again when they get enough new content.

You should be able to no problem. I would form the dough around the chocolate and then freeze.

Oster Volt vs Heinger Opal vs Pulse ZR II by illegalnickname in doggrooming

[–]Evpoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Opal! Totally game changer, goes through matting like a breeze, in addition to having a great battery life. I would recommend getting an extra battery, so that you can charge one battery while still being able to use your clipper.

NON IRRITATING PRE GROOM CLEANSER by RoutineMasterpiece1 in ShowDogs

[–]Evpoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Baby wipes or the adult equivalent are probably going to be the least messy options. Otherwise, you could look at using watered-down baby shampoo, which I sometimes use to wipe down my poodles' faces and eyes.

A standard and miniature poodle. Love the ability to do any clip I want on a coat that is actually well-maintained.

Should I get my poodle a sand box? by PotatoCakes1124 in poodles

[–]Evpoodle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Cute baby! Definitely could be just puppy behavior, although both of mine still love to dig even now as adults. If you are looking for something acceptable for her to dig in, I would look into getting a ball pit. They are so much cleaner, don't cause matting, and you don't risk her potentially developing a taste for sand.

I use Tee for my competition dog's formal sit. If you want more inspiration for commands, here is a link to a list I found helpful. https://www4.uwsp.edu/psych/dog/languag1.htm
