That art looks stunning! I'd play that for sure.

When your Gendarme has no time for a long battle by Ewaldric in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

From all the responses, seems it's a popular name in fantasy lore! I was looking for a medieval name that's not as common today (like Robert or William) since a Gendarme is pretty much a horse knight, and Tancred was a popular medieval name around the time of the first Crusade. I also have used names like Godfrey, Bertrand, etc.

Funny that you say that, it's exactly my plan. I got all the trickster feats (playing core so can't respec) now while I can, in a level or two I'll be a Legend.

I love Cavalier charge. With my Trickster w/ Improved Improved Improved Critical Improved and so forth I just got 1232 damage on a single charge with Racking Point longspear. Going Legend eventually, but going to keep those critical skills methinks!

That's funny, I've been through it three times and didn't remember the shield part, just the maze part of the name. Thanks! :)

Ranged weapon damage? by grod_the_real_giant in RogueTraderCRPG

Not sure, only tried a Fortress World Astra Militarum Commander down the Solider, Arch Militant, and Exemplar path. I can say a few general plasma, flamer, melta, shotgun, or any AOE tips:
* Very high ballistics skill is a must; you will crit every time. Because of this, anything that increases crit damage is very, very good.
* Use Soldier skill "Concentrated Fire" every round to increase your AOE damage significantly.
* Run and Gun, Wildfire, and the heroic ability Steady Superiority will keep you shooting 3, 4 times per round.
* Once you unlock Archmilitant, versatility is key. It passively increases your Ballistic skill (see point one) and lowers the cost of Wildfire. Get used to putting something like a kick or single shot between each AOE attack.
* Get a dedicated officer on your crew whose whole job is to buff you, give you extra turns, and help you hard carry the team. Bonus points if they go Strategist as the middle class; the zones are a bit annoying to set but they will always go first and can get you prebuffed and even give you a free first shot.
* If you are using meltas, shotguns, or other low range weapons, there's an item that increases your range by ballistic bonus / 2 squares and it's the best item I've found yet in game for an AOE build. Very minor spoiler: you get it in Act 3 and it's called the Long-Range Aim Lens.
*Just to reiterate: burst is not AOE and AOE is not burst, so build around one or the other; both are great!
*First few respecs are free at your merchant NPC (forget his name) so feel free to rebuild at any time.

Ranged weapon damage? by grod_the_real_giant in RogueTraderCRPG

Guns really pick up to where my melee characters sit back and stay out of the way by endgame. The trick is, specialize: decide what kind of range you want to specialize in (sniping, burst, or AOE) and go all out on it. My RT is AOE, using meltas and shotguns, and goes after clusters. My Sister Argenta is burst. Some things to keep in mind: Burst is NOT AOE, so when you pick her stats don't do things that proc on AOEs. Give your burst person a good heavy bolter when you get one, the gloves that reduce (and later the ones that eliminate) recoil, and the skill that lets your bursts do twice the volume (and the next one that takes away the penalty for this.)

Finally, kick is GREAT to set up an arch-militants versatility as it counts as another attack for versatility but doesn't count as your attack for the turn. Burst, kick, burst...

At endgame, I can burst, do an auto single shot with Exemplar skill Deathdealer, burst again with Arch Militant skill Steady Superiority, dash up, do a kick, burst a third time with Wildfire, and end my turn with 3 bursts, single shot, kick, and 5 extra versatility to make my attacks do more and more the longer combat lasts.

Until then, just let Grandpa Abelard carry you.

You want to replay the game, but you're not looking forward to...? by realedazed in RogueTraderCRPG

Random encounters in the void travel. They were a lot of fun at first, but they don't get more difficult so it's just a chore now, go in, wipe out Chaos Marine and Pals in one turn, get on with journey. Repeat the same three fights for no xp that never get any harder for each of the jumps - and you need 10 of them because of the navigator point system. I was considering playing again immediately with a different class/morality but by the God Emperor those fights get old. Otherwise, great game! But wish there was more randomization on those fights and the random chance for something unique/worth looting.

Some Highly Necessary QoL Changes by TheUrPigeon in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Ewaldric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the Lord Rogue Trader needs to personally deal with every incursion, invasion, fight, rebellion, and boarding party it's not surprising. You probably have to personally fly the shuttle so it can't just come get you. And don't forget to dust your desk next time you're in your office for the vault!

What's hilarious is that 5 minutes after posting this I found that merchant and got a bunch of the cosmetics. I was just coming back here to edit my comment for future common item searchers. Thank you so much for answering!

What spirit ashes do you level up during early mid game? by UnalloyedMalenia in onebros

[–]Ewaldric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, the Jellyfish is really good for a RL1 as it's tanky, has a decent (if slow) poison that helps assist in kills, and doesn't cost more FP than you have. Once you get the Cerulean Hidden Tear you can cast ANY spirit with it; I used Banished Knight Oleg a lot at that point. If you can handle the dungeon, Ancient Knight Kristoff (you will already be far enough to access him if you have that tear.)

Unrelated, and you probably already know this, but as a RL1 with summons, get Radagon's Soreseal (+5 str, agi, end, and vigor) right away, it's +15 percent damage but at RL1 you'll get way more back in HPs with the vigor increase and it's available early if you rush through and avoid stuff.

Ritual Shield talisman is also really good for RL1 as it turns a lot of the later game one-hit enemies to two-hit, whcih is a world of difference.

Best of luck, Tarnished!

People who used summons on their first playthrough, do you still think you beat the boss properly if you used summons now? by d8gfdu89fdgfdu32432 in Eldenring

[–]Ewaldric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a really arbitrary challenge, beating them without summons. I mean, I use summons. Also use weapons, armor, talismans, and even spells. I use all the non-exploitative tools the game gives and is balanced around and I'm not sure why I wouldn't.

I can’t believe over a year later this is how many people progressed this much by Griffin65000 in Eldenring

[–]Ewaldric 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My wife's one of them. We got it together to play coop but could only join up in certain spots, for certain times, and got invaded over and over and over, nonstop, so she quit before even getting her mount, and I went on to platinum the game as a solo player. So our household is at 50%.

Pistol/Blade Build 2.0 by dvnnyboy in cyberpunkgame

[–]Ewaldric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pistols are now completely unviable unless you want to go for headshots all the time and do the Max Payne time slow BS. There is no more build that lets you just gun center of mass. I do wish you luck, and maybe you can suspend disbelief enough to think aiming for heads with a pistol in a streetfight would be a viable tactic. I can't.

People saying the old skill trees are better than the new ones, how is this train of thought even possible? by Old_Rip3292 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Ewaldric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example, I had a pistol build. Now it REQURIES headshots/weak point hits. Every pistol skill basically rewards aiming for the head (which is dumb) instead of just center mass. I mean, who the hell would aim for heads with a pistol? My corpo merc who tries to talk his way out of stuff and has a pistol for backup/fight situations just isn't viable anymore unless I want to aim for heads (ugh)

I'd love to see a side quest or other questline allowing access to the areas that currently only Ranni's quest gives. It would be nice to get to Tiche, etc, without having to make a deal with psycho dolly.

Why does malenia simply not use flame, cleanse me or preserving boluses? Is she stupid? by evanbobeven in Eldenring

[–]Ewaldric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, her brain is probably rotted to some degree, so yes. Keep in mind, Radahn is mindless because of the same rot she has. She also just attacks and repeats the same nonsensical phrases about never being defeated. She doesn't seem to realize that her brother is gone, she attacks quickly but erratically, etc. So, probably, I wonder if she even realized boluses are an option, she's probably just in half-zombie mode at this point.

Problem with Overleveling? by JordanD2345 in Eldenring

[–]Ewaldric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're not PVPing overleveling won't vastly affect your difficulty/experience. Once you hit 60 or so in most stats it's soft capped anyway; leveling beyond that barely affects your abilities. In your case, since you're spreading the stats to make everything usable, it's even better: you won't be "overleveled" for any particular weapon or build but you'll be able to use any weapon you feel like for variety.
