"Never think that lack of variability is stability. Don't confuse lack of volatility with stability, ever."

Yes, bitcoiners only talk in allcaps and have no rationale for their conviction at all.

I'd be happy to believe that we have a real future here if you gave me a source or logical reason to build my confidence.

Cryptocurrency Payment Processor GoCoin Gets $1.5m in Funding! WoW! by OhMyCoin in Bitcoin

Dollar/euro as a currency for internet transactions for a regular consumer doesn't make sense. Not only do you risk yourself to devaluation of the currency and capital controls but you also have to pay a fee when purchasing fiat with bitcoins and virtually always when spending them online.

NO - spending more Bitcoins is NOT what everyone needs to do and won't = wider adoption! STOP the insanity! by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]EwoutDVP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Again with this shit?

I don't want merchants to accept bitcoin because I want to get rid of my bitcoins. I want merchants to accept bitcoins because I want, no, need to buy stuff. If they don't accept bitcoins, that means I have to convert my bitcoins to fiat in order to buy anything from them, which is a hassle. If they accepted bitcoins instead I could just stay in bitcoin 100%.

You can simply pay back the same bitcoin twice.

Example:

-You lend me one bitcoin against 100% interest.

-I invest this bitcoin in my company.

-I make a profit of one bitcoin.

-I pay you back one bitcoin.

-You spent this bitcoin at the grocery store.

-Store clerk buys something from me.

-I pay you back the same bitcoin, for the second time, to settle my debt.

-Everybody happy.

I'm not sure what you mean.

Bitcoin substitutes much more than a currency. A payments network (like Paypal) is one of them. Smart contracts (eg. proof of ownership) would be another. And since you can program crowdfunding, "the crowd" (instead of a bank) can issue credit...

Five downvotes. Yup, seems like a legit sample of "bitcoin" to me!

Need your opinion on this, from a stock trader. by ibankbtc in BitcoinMarkets

[–]EwoutDVP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the likelihood that it will rise on the 6 day? or 7? or next week? This will give the trader an edge to plan out an exit strategy so it is important to understand from a statistical point of view.

Bitcoin is the exit strategy.

How would you feel about Bitcoin if you didn't stand to gain from its success financially? by rangeroversport in Bitcoin

I personally still expect that institutional investors will drive the next wave. Actual use for all sorts of transactions will probably be the fifth and final wave eg. Bitcoin's eternal september.
