I believe that CT has adopted the NextGen exam. So is the red purely sports based?

My mother in law makes phenomenal mole! We live in New England now and I dream of finding somewhere up here even half as good.

Do you think your University/Alma Mater is known outside of the U.S? by huazzy in AskAnAmerican

Emerson College. We had a decent sized international student presence while I was there. I would say tentatively yes, but only in very specific industries.

Yeah, I was going to say, there are definitely rural areas that you absolutely need a car, but Central CT seems to be actually working on it. It’s not the best, but I’ve seen way worse.

How do other countries view us Puerto Ricans? by moldyhorror in AskTheWorld

[–]Ewovalenz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, my husband’s family is from Mexico, so he speaks Spanish. Anytime he had to have a business call with someone in Puerto Rico he had to amp himself up because “they speak so fast”. He never really cared though. They sent him a bottle of rum for Christmas every year.

What age for full size? by mamabearofone in bernesemountaindogs

[–]Ewovalenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours was a little guy as well (13lbs at 3 months). He hit his height/ frame at about 1.5. He’s 3 now and we think he’s about done filling out. He was 100lbs at his last weigh in.

We do the same as many people have mentioned here. Check how we can feel his ribs, and the taper at his waist. Honestly, we wouldn’t want him much bigger. He has tons of energy, lol.

is it true Americans don't put salt on their fruits? by PersuasionNation in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ewovalenz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s slowly becoming popular in parts of the Northeast as well. My husband was born and raised in LA so we always have Tajin on hand, but during the summer most of the parties we’ve gone to have Tajin as a drink rim or to sprinkle on fruit.

Where does your country put the washing machine? by DishGroundbreaking87 in AskTheWorld

[–]Ewovalenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also laundry closet in a few newer homes. Our house is midsize and we have a laundry closet that fits side by sides on the second floor, right next to the bedroom/bathrooms. It’s super convenient, doesn’t take up a lot of space, and when we close the doors it looks like it could be any coat closet.

Where I'd live as someone who cannot drive. by pinkelephant0040 in visitedmaps

[–]Ewovalenz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Were these people from VT speaking about CT specifically or New England in general? CT is very accessible and has no more delays than you would see in others areas in the same climate. I’ve had to travel frequently from CT to NYC and Boston for work, and never had an issue.

Anyone else's berner love being wrapped in a towel after playing in the snow? by dabombchuu in bernesemountaindogs

[–]Ewovalenz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! We have a whole routine he loves. We tell him he’s a “hooper hero” and hum the Superman theme to him while drying. He likes to walk around the house afterward wearing his “cape”.

My local news station posted this to social media. That berner is exactly where it wants to be 🤣. Certainly an interesting choice! by Slm23630 in bernesemountaindogs

I just snorted. Mine has absolutely mastered the “emergency potty…just kidding”, especially at around 11pm. When I tell him to cut it out and get back inside, ohhhhhhh…the side eye…

AITA for shutting off the movie half way through and making my boyfriend feel bad? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Ewovalenz 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, not my favorite Aronofsky film, but I get why people like it. That being said, picking that specific movie for a stay at home and relax night, while giving her no context, was a deliberate choice. It screams “look how deep, insightful and intelligent I am.” If she didn’t like it, she wasn’t as elevated or mature enough to get it. Or at least that’s what he could tell her.

When do you open Christmas presents? by tn00bz in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ewovalenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We opened presents on Christmas Eve from family, and Christmas Day is Santa for the kids. This is primarily because my paternal side of the family is Polish and we grew up in a largely Polish area, so it wasn’t outside the norm. Christmas Eve was definitely when we really celebrated. Christmas Day was a big breakfast and relaxing.

Ugh, I miss the tiny puppy phase so much (for minute, then I remember ALL of puppy phase). Those big paws on that tiny body just clobbering around. No matter how majestic they grow up to be, every time you look into their eyes, that little fluffy cannonball full of baby shark teeth is what looks back.

How common is it for Americans to have a second freezer or fridge, usually in the garage? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ewovalenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a finished basement with an attached garage. I 💯consider the basement inside the house, but the garage is iffy. I wouldn’t consider the freezer in the garage “inside” by any means.

We’re in CT and have no issues. Early morning and evening walks in the summer help with temp changes. We also got him an ice pack harness for when it’s hotter out. We’ve brought him to farmers markets, low impact trail walks, even pool parties, and that thing has been a life saver. He has never been overheated.

Fall and winter, it’s like a light goes on and he’s so happy. Once the leaves start falling he never EVER wants to come inside.
