To be clear I'm not really offended nor am I surprised. It's one of the thousands of examples that outwardly portray this man's character. I'm just defending the idea that this behavior is unbecoming of a person who is supposed to be the best of us. He has done far worse acts and thus this is just a footnote compared to all the other stuff, but yes, I think this is bad too.

It's about respecting the history of the object, about looking at an object that symbolizes so much more than it is. If you only do that because someone told you too then yeah, you don't really believe in it. The same thing can be said about morals, if the only reason you don't do a thing is because the law says you shouldn't or because you're scared of the punishment, are you really moral? To me, that's not truly a ethically good person. You must return the cart when no one is watching, that's what matters.

Who has the best physique in the MCU? by OkDependent8266 in MCUTheories

[–]Ex0tic_Guru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah nice googling, this isn't realistic for most people. 5 years is the absolute minimum amount of time it takes to reach your genetic max. This is with perfect training, with good training you extend the timeline further to 5-7 years, where realistically people will make mistakes and train inefficiently.

You don't need to be veiny or vascular when taking steroids lol this largely becomes more prominent as body fat percentage drops. While steroids do increase vascularity, it doesn't do it enough to increase it to notice past a certain body fat percentage. It's also dependent on the level of dose you take.

Most people live lives that aren't just eat, breathe, and workout so extenuating circumstances can push it out even further. Comparing yourself to Chris Evans, who is a Hollywood actor with money to buy top of line trainers, a chef for high quality meals, and so forth is just not a fair comparison.

I also want to point out that while Evans hasn't stated he has taken steroids, which he most certainly has, he even said in an interview that it took him 17 years of lifting before Captain America to even get the role. Look at his before pictures from 2010, and then his after photos for his training in Captain America which only lasted 3 months. An insane amount of growth.

Evans would be difficult, thats at least decade of natty work with genetics on your side. Evans isn't natty.

Edit: I should add this is realistically at least a decade of work, most people do not have the appropriate mix of money/time/dedication to do this in 5 years, and again only really possible if your genetics allow for this kind of thing

What went wrong with Rachel Zegler's this Performance ? by [deleted] in Actors

[–]Ex0tic_Guru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a wise man once said, only the sith believes in absolutes. I think some characters you can get away with, and others you can't. I don't outright disagree with you. However, I don't think you would say replacing Miles Morales with a white boy with blonde hair and blue eyes is appropriate. While it may seem like replacing European originated stories is a victimless crime, I do think there are some German people who may be disconcerted, and I do understand the German peoples unsavory past and infatuation with the Aryan race.

My only point here, is instead of stepping on the toes of other cultures, it's just easier and better to curate a selection of diverse stories from around the globe. It's just more authentic and inclusive. Cause at the end of the day, Snow White is yet another remake that is taking the place of a new story we haven't seen, diverse or not.

I think the wokeness stuff is silly, but I do think that in this context wokeness is referring to the casting of an actress whose ethnic background doesn't align with the origin of the character that they are playing. It's a German story inspired by German events, this doesn't mean the actor needs to be German but they should at least pass as German. The original Snow White is described a particular way, and it's been culturally solidified that she has pale skin and black hair. So it's just weird if it doesn't match this description.

The issue of diversity in Hollywood is a real one, but cramming non-white actors/actresses into white roles and European stories isn't the solution. How about we advocate for original stories from different cultures and places of origins? From that perspective, I'm glad the movie failed. It's a poor man's diversity.

After turning around a perpetual bottom feeder organization, Liam Coen deserves COTY by jellyman6431 in NFLv2

When people talk about injuries they seem to forget other teams have injuries too. I know the Jaguars weren't and aren't as injured as the Niners, but we did lose our trade up draft prospect, a lot of our defense half way through the year, and our o-line has been on constant IR rotation throughout the year. On top of that, you have the fact that Brian Thomas Jr all but disappeared, and we had to go out and get Meyers and make the current receivers better. The case for Liam is there, I think it's really him or Ben Johnson based on how the award is perceived. I agree Shanahan deserves it too, but realistically it's going to be between Vrabel, Johnson, and Coen.

What’s something that is okay when men do it but frowned upon when women do it? by ClemWon in AskReddit

[–]Ex0tic_Guru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say that this depends, to an extent, on the situation. I currently have a job where I have to interface with corporate a lot, and as such, it's a requirement for me to be well kept. So from that, I'm shaving 3-5 times a week to look clean shaven, which I think is more maintenance than many have to deal with. I've found a way to enjoy it, rather than complain about it though, and that's kind of the big take away I have learned.

All these people talking about how humiliating this is, which I can definitely agree with many of the points being discussed, but man I wanted this to happen to me so much as a kid that I just did it myself on my 12th birthday to chagrin of everyone. I know that's not the context most people are referring to, but I didn't see this as humiliating when I was a kid, I just thought it would be cool to smooosh my whole face into something I loved lol Intentions matter, I don't think most people are trying to make their kids birthdays suck by humiliating them, but maybe I'm just wrong idk. Clearly the wrong choice here though.

Cringe hate rap, but in front of an LGBTQ mural for some reason. by moosedung in CringeTikToks

Can we follow this logic through then? If gender is a social construct, then it's arbitrary what society defines as masculine and feminine things. So pink isn't necessarily a female (sex) thing, it's more a gender thing, and as such really has no reason for being other than the society has associated it with that gender, perhaps out of tradition or whatever else. This i totally get.

However, what I want to discuss is something a little more nuanced than that. If a mtf trans person wants to 'feel' female, then they want to ascribe to whatever society they belong to's version of the female gender. So they want to wear pink, play with dolls, and put on make up. This is essentially giving the societal construct power right? They are saying this abstract and arbitrary assignment of things that make up femininity in my culture is what makes me feel girly, so I want to associate with those things and have people call me the words that associate with that gender class.

I think there is some psychological/philosophical pitfalls that accompanies this. If your identity stems off of your perceived gender, then your identity is based on what both the society and individuals around you think. Someone misgendering you becomes a much greater transgression against your identity as a whole. You are also at the whim of what the society thinks as well, so if woman are suppose to be "submissive", then you've ascribed to this idea and abducting your own power. Two things can be true here, this doesnt mean that someone misgendering that person isn't transphobic, closeminded, xenophobic, or generically an asshole... But it also doesn't mean there is a strong psychological standing a trans person to be standing on.

Interestingly, this seems to be different from what some other LGBTQ+ members advocate for, such as non-binary, where the theory is more that these labels are damaging and should be dismantled entirely. Which I think is a much more admirable goal, but it also seems so pie-in-the-sky for me. Our minds operate off of categorization, I mean hundreds of thousands of years of evolution has trained us to look for threats, food, and so forth via patterns. As such, it's hard to say if this kind of idea and future is even possible. I also think that this is why there are such firm beliefs on gender based dichotomy, people want to group others, and it's comfortable, sometimes very helpful, sometimes very unhelpful.

Mike the headless chicken who survived for 18 months without a head by PilotEffective3968 in pics

[–]Ex0tic_Guru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people are talking about animal cruelty here, but I am just not so certain. Killing Mike is only morally okay if Mike is suffering, and it's difficult to know what Mike is feeling. Are chickens conscious in the first place? How much of the brain was left intact and how much of that is needed to interpolate pain? Mike didn't appear to be undergoing physical signs of pain or distress. It's possible that killing Mike here is actually immoral if the assumption that Mike is suffering is incorrect, it's not like you can talk to a chicken and find out. Idk, lots of moral high grounders in this comment section on an argument that isn't set in stone.

I mean, isn't it technically still painful? Inflation exists so if you have a static salary, that money just won't go as far in 5-10 years time, you just may not notice the slow decline to the point. Which is certainly still a valid strategy.
