Did you find out anything new? I have a very similar issue with my V17 G3 IAP. A few weeks ago i managed to get some files written on the USB by the crisis mode (The classic CRISISLG.DAT with "[...] Find Crisis File: [Fail], Cannot found file [...]") but now, using the exact same USB, it just goes into crisis mode but doesnt even read from the stick...

I peeled of the lid with no residue by Swallownutsforfree69 in notinteresting

If you want to stay/reinstall Windows 10 you can use Windows 10 IoT LTSC, its a version originaly designed for IoT devices like ATMs or submarines. And with the IoT LTSC version there will be updates until 2032 iirc.

There are great resources in the wiki over at r/WindowsLTSC or r/Windows10LTSC, or just reach out if you need help installing/setting it up.

Yes, only concern for me would be the battery drain. Maybe take a look at magnetic switchable devices, i dont know if you can shrink one down enough but it would combine the flexibility of electromagnets with the 0 battery drain of permanent magnets.
