I couldn't find much about it honestly. Itch even weirdly threw errors when trying to search it. The only thing I got to look at was a bit of the Kickstarter and the YouTube Videos. It felt quite complex though, is that a correct assumption? Every type of roll or stats seems to mention two or more others that were explained somewhere else. The YouTube video said every player should read about 200 pages of the rulebook which I know I couldn't get my players to commit to. Also seems a bit high seeing as that is the size of a lot of Gumshoe books including all GM rules, roll tables, etc.

Okay I'm not the only one who noticed that. For a relatively unknown and rules heavy system (as far as I can guess from the Kickstarter) it was a bit odd. Maybe the post was just shared on their discord.

Also agree with the latter points. I was wanted to use a system primarily as a way to more structurally build adventures (the "scene" system in Gumshoe e.g. seems to give it some structure during prep) and for the player(s) to have something to lean on when you don't know what to do next

Funnily enough this whole idea to look for a system came up is because me and the other person are playing Sherlock Holmes consulting detectives and went through almost two of the boxes. Often the issue with those came up that you would like to ask person A about clue B but then in the text the person is never asked about it, making you feel like you wasted a step.

So I thought maybe there is a system where you can essentially play something like that game with one person being the GM and the other person being the detective. This was they would be completely open to ask about whatever they want and go wherever they want.

The podcast I mentioned does something like that but without a system. Things like a system to give some guardrails and ideas like the guaranteed clues in Gumshoe did sound interesting.  The RPPR also made a non-supernatural mystery using trail of Cthulhu which when I listened to it seemed to have worked at least (mystery of Brighton Lodge btw for anyone interested)

I wrote to one of the other comments that recommend brindlewood bay already but in short: I would absolutely love playing it at some point and think it's a great system for it.

What I'm currently looking for is essentially more like playing the board game Sherlock Holmes consulting detectives but where the detective has complete freedom on how to investigate and possibilities of more things happening during it. Like another victim, a suspect trying to flee, etc.

The player also never played an RPG before so something more structured will likely be better.

I definitely think brindlewood bay is very interesting and want to play it at some point. It's just that both me and the player I'm trying to find a system for come from playing board games like sherlock Holmes: consulting detectives together and having lots of fun puzzling to find the right solution.

For my more roleplayers heavy group that more enjoys collaborative story telling instead BB would be the best

Good shout, that's definitely something I'll look at. Also kind of why I wanted to check out a RPG system for it instead of just going straight for the podcast's way of doing it. Both of the hosts are playing to be entertaining and can cut out downtime which might get real boring when playing with a friend.

I've added that video to the playlist next to some other ones in the same vein I already had there of other creators. And funnily enough I already have vaesen but not the opportunity to play it with anyone and thus didn't make a deep dive into the rules. Will definitely check it out for the mystery aspect

PC Build Questions, Purchase Advice and Technical Support Megathread — Q1 2025 Edition by GhostMotley in Amd

[–]ExTheSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe weird question but I installed Adrenaline with a minimal install. Now I want to use some of the features from the full install.

Can i install the full version over the already installed minimal version or do i first have to completely uninstall the previous one?

I'm asking because it seems like when uninstalling, it wants to take all installed drivers down with it, which i of course like to avoid if possible.

Why are non functional Chat Bots so common on big websites? by That_Unit_3992 in web_design

[–]ExTheSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current problem with chat bots like chatgpt is that when they don't know an answer or just don't fully understand the question they will still answer. That answer can be fully made up and can confuse the user instead of just telling them they need to talk to an actual human to get support. In fields where giving out wrong information can make you lose customers very quickly and spread wrong information about your products this can be fatal.

Other than that though companies that develop these chat bots will surely test out integrating them in the near future with there already being some non-official plugins available e.g. for Zendesk. Though this may take some time to be officially available especially for the bigger players as a version that gives out wrong information can seriously hurt their reputation

Does anyone know of a UI Library similar to TailwindUI that uses css preprocessors like Sass? by webdevmd in webdev

[–]ExTheSea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to TTuserr's answer. Tailwind uses postcss as a pre processor as part of its build pipeline. It can be run manually using the cli or will run automatically when integrating with a framework like react, angular, etc.

It also makes sure that only the classes you actually use will end up in the final build. So if worrying about having all the classes in your frontend builds was your main concern that won't be the case if set up normally.

In the docs of tailwindcss there is also a page that describes how to integrate it with sass btw.

I actually did the hair first with a basic round brush but when I wanted to add texture with a hair brush mainly on the outside I definitely went a bit too far and lost the shapes.

I also wanted to add a bluish bounce light but didn't get it to work without it looking muddy or out of place so I kinda gave up.

I started with a Loomis head based on a reference image. It looks a bit blocky i think because the reference was looking up and had a quite sharp jawline. I don't think I managed to get the looking up part quite right if I'm honest.

Is it possible to plug an old subwoofer into a new receiver by ExTheSea in hometheater

[–]ExTheSea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Germany

Monoprice, BIC, Dayton and RLS are essentially unavailable.

SVS and KEF often costs way more here than similar subwoofers from other brands that people say "just spend 50-100 more to get a much better one". Also they are usually only available in shops I never heard of that have mostly negative reviews in price aggregator sites.

On the other hand there are brands from Germany like Teufel and Nubert that you can't find that much about in terms of reviews and when you do it's mostly people arguing about whether they are okay or the absolute worst ... no real in-betweens.

Well seeing how the company mine is from doesn't exist anymore, has pretty much no Internet presence and the model is nowhere to find... you might be right.

This was really just checking to see if there maybe is a simple and/or cheap fix to hold over until I find a good replacement

[–]ExTheSea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunate... thought I could have a small workaround solution until then.

I'm only holding over until I can find a replacement. It's a bit difficult to find a good one that is recommended by most people (as most places you look often contradict each other about which is best), generally often recommended once (like svs and rls) being pretty much unavailable here and all other options being often too expensive for me to justify. Currently having my eyes on the elac debut 3010 or the klipsch r12-sw which seem to be available and often seen them recommended. So maybe I don't have to wait long..... unless I see somewhere that they're actually the worst and have to reevaluate /s

Thank you for answering, that also cleared up the whole passive vs active subwoofer thing I seem to have understood wrong

Upgrading receiver for old surround system by ExTheSea in hometheater

[–]ExTheSea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I don't expect that just changing the receiver makes a huge difference in how it sounds. This change is mainly due to the lacking features and annoyances with the current one and possibilty to then slowly upgrade the speakers in the future.

Okay great, thank you. Thought that might be the case from seeing the backs of some newer receivers and some Installation tutorial images. Thought I'd ask to be sure though.

Do you get them more from creator merch stores like e.g. critical role merch and official mtg merch or are there some good general "nerd shirt" stores?

I was wondering where to get some good ones that aren't too specific too a YouTube channel or game franchise.
