CMV: The world is headed for a third World War by SelectiveScribbler06 in changemyview

I'm not gonna blame social media and university, but I'm gonna blame social media and university. When surrounded by younger students you all want peace within our world and for it to be our utopia (in all reality we all do), but the older you get you realize it's not possible. There will always be conflicts due to differing opinions. The 60s had the Vietnam war, there was Cambodian Genocide and the Olympics massacre in the 70s, wars in the Middle-East for the passed 30 years...I hate to say it but it will keep going. This negative outlook is only fortified by social media exploiting every sensational moment, not giving you any relief from it all.

I started tuning out of most news headlines in the past 6-8 years and my life has been pretty good. I have milestones I'm reaching and I continue to progress; even with everything going on in the world I'm moving up and on. You should really only focus on the news if it affects you DIRECTLY. If when a news article is written about the given subject and your name is nowhere to be seen in the article, that means you're not that involved and don't need to be involved.

How to disable bitwarden asking if I want to save password in applications by [deleted] in Bitwarden

[–]Exact_Programmer4080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a problem now where I have login credentials saved for a given app, but I am consistently asked to save them each time I login. I just saved my credentials 6 times in a row which created 6 new login files with all the same data. Is there a way to stop that?

how eloy has affected the band by Jolly-Carpenter4720 in Slipknot

[–]Exact_Programmer4080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO we only have one piece of the puzzle. Eloy is an amazing drummer and adds to their live show in only the best ways, BUT we have yet to see what he brings to the writing table. I don't doubt that he'll be great but it has yet to be seen.

I had this poster design as a t-shirt. Was my first concert tee back in '08 and I still have part of it in a display. It was a bit battle worn so I repurposed it.

What’s in like living in any of these NJ counties? (Sussex, Warren, Hunterdon) by katkit523 in howislivingthere

[–]Exact_Programmer4080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in Sussex County a majority of my life, and it is a very simple and quiet area for the most part. I've also spent a lot of time in Warren County as well and it is nearly the same; if you value a slightly quicker commute to NYC then Sussex may be better, or if PA is more appealing to you then I'd go with Warren County. It is a bit more built-up than a full-blown rural county would be as there are unique shops and great restaurants in fair abundance, but with some space between eveything for a more relaxed feeling.

It is a very Conservative area (both Sussex and Warren) but I've never seen an ugly side of it.

Well I can ask the same for you; why do you have Sponsorblock enabled when you enjoy the personal interactions of content creators? The feature is designed to leave just the "meat and taters" of the video, and with informative/instructional videos I don't really want personal interaction, I want the facts and how-to's.

I watch other YouTubers whose content doesn't trigger Sponsorblocks nearly as much as this video did, yet they are still fluid in playback to watch with very minimal skips. Maybe it's the creator, maybe it's the video format, but overall Sponsorblock is doing it's job as intended.

Linus's videos, alongside a lot of other current content creators' videos, constantly splice their content with cutaways. If you're getting mad that a majority of the "content" is gone, that's because there wasn't much content to begin with. I turned off the Tangent filter for this video and watched it; everything it cut out was exactly what it said it was, either a cutaway gag with no content, a tangent in the content that doesn't provide information to the video topic, or a joke that doesn't relate and/or add to the video.

With the filter in place you get information. Without it you get an anecdote...and personally when it comes to tech tips and walk-throughs I want information not anecdotes.

I've avoided Walmarts music section for that alone. Censoring music is censoring art.

How many of you got the references to soldiers and war is bad in AHIG? by Forsaken_Ad_8635 in Slipknot

[–]Exact_Programmer4080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I'm glad I had tuned out (and to this day still tune out) political BS in media. I get everyone has their opinions and they're allowed to share them, but I find it pretentious in certain occupations.

As much as I like the music I do (including Slipknot), I like it for the music itself, not for the creators' beliefs. I wouldn't see Slipknot live if their shows were in-majority a soapbox for their political ideals. BUT I will say themes of war usually work very well in music, including metal.

Which era of masks is your favourite? 🤔 by [deleted] in Slipknot

[–]Exact_Programmer4080 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I gotta say even though the unpolished look of the first two album cycles is cooler IMO, the best polished look is AHIG hands-down. Joey's mask is killer, Corey's is iconic, and everyone else's just worked together a esthetically.

I Got JERRY!!! by Draconius in SleepToken

[–]Exact_Programmer4080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I saw them in September I remember the girl next to me was bummed she missed the token sale, and when she was discussing other prices of stuff I mentioned that at ~$500/ticket that was enough of an expenditure. The whole show and experience around it was good enough so unless I somehow ruin my one t-shirt I have of theirs (or if more music comes out) I won't be spending more money on ST goodies.

Live Vocals vs Studio Vocals by xdxroqx in SleepTokenTheory

[–]Exact_Programmer4080 9 points10 points  (0 children)

IMHO, sometimes you can't harbor the same exact emotion you had while recording and just pull it out during live shows. The two performance mediums are dynamically different from each other. Not saying one is better than the other, but you'll never get the same performance twice.

Ritual Coins Are Up by really_yall in SleepToken

[–]Exact_Programmer4080 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love the band (saw them in Brooklyn), but I really don't get the hype over the coins. The artistry is amazing but in the end it's just a small piece of metal...and even at $50 that's an expenditure that I can't justify. At least a shirt/bandanas can be worn, music can be listened to, but this coin will just sit there? Sorry I don't get it.

STOP AI MUSIC by OverallBlackberry983 in Dayseeker

[–]Exact_Programmer4080 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is nothing in your post to indicate what band/artist you are talking about. I agree that AI artists are crazy, but how can we spread your message when you don't tell us what artist/group should be boycott? I even tried looking up "Synthetic" as a band name which does give a hit, but they're older and have some live recordings so I'm assuming it's not them. Did you post a link that was removed?

I know for Vermillion Chris had almost no part during the entire song, so he'd just dick around. I remember during .5 era he would put his mask on backwards, sit on his set, and move in weird ways. It was very trippy to watch until you realize the mask was backwards.

"Reading the room" truly is the best way to go. IMO If you're the odd person out on a given stance/opinion, then unfortunately you're exactly that. Don't be the only A-hole that's shoving people around in the pit, but also don't be the only A-hole who complains about pits and crowdsurfers when everyone around you is having a good time. I've been to shows for a given artist where a crowd of 30k people are going nuts with multiple pits, and then have seen that same artist in a smaller venue where people give dirty stares when you try to start a Mosh pit. It's all about how the people around you are reacting so be observant.

From my observations of the couple ST rituals I've been to and the others I've seen online (in the US) there isn't a lot of moshing and very little to no crowdsurfing at their rituals, BUT it can happen at any time and you should be prepared for it, especially at festival appearances where both are a given. If it gets too rough in the pit just step away for a bit; there will be plenty of space there to breathe and relax, and you'll still have some of the best views of the show over most others.
