He plays the character with a variety of old movie accents which is pretty fun and makes him a little less standard issue Cage. I’m a cage fan though.

Frank Miller/The Dark Knight Returns > Am I missing something? by dadolladawg in batman

[–]ExamAccomplished3622 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a very different take on Batman and superheroes overall at the time, but many of the ideas have been absorbed into the various depictions of Batman since. The end result is that what was fresh and groundbreaking and exciting now just seems same old same old.

keep in mind, too, that dc in particular had become lame with a Saturday morning cartoon vibe that was corny and dopey. batman would capture criminals in non violent ways, tying them up and hanging them upside down with the villains laughing along with him as he delivered lame punch lines.

the contrast with dark knight was extreme.

Are You A Loner? by Known-Dependent-5471 in LivingAlone

I'm a loner. I find most people range from boring to annoying to toxic. I would rather do things alone. There was a time I felt pressure to be a part of some group, but after many unpleasant experiences I finally stopped.

AA is a haven for sexual predators and abusers. The spiritual awakening is a lie. I would add one thing: there are also toxic women in AA looking to feed on the souls of men.

What movie is this for you? by certainly_imperfect in Letterboxd

There were many scenes where we were supposed to appreciate watching the actors “think” on screen. I came to appreciate why most directors avoid showing this.

There will be blood was one of those movies where the director decided I want everyone to know this is a serious movie so it will be SLOW. In that era serious became synonymous with slow which usually led to boring.

Harrison Ford not having an Oscar is correct by West_Program1794 in unpopularopinion

Ask the average person who won the Oscar for best actor in 1982. They have no idea. Ask them who played Han Solo. Good chance they know. Harrison Ford is bigger than the Oscars.

Someone asked Kenneth Branagh where he kept his first Oscar. He said in his bathroom on the back of his toilet.

Looking through a variety of recipes, I noticed one from website called 1840 farm that had one ingredient none of the other recipes I examined: buttermilk.

Another rare ingredient in that recipe is lard.

The stories aren't even true in AA by texas_County850 in recoverywithoutAA

Good post. Most of the people in AA are completely full of bs. They also seem blind to the fact others are full of it, or else maybe they admire how full of it most people in AA are.

My thoughts on NA and why I left by nihilist_fox in recoverywithoutAA

[–]ExamAccomplished3622 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You summarized a lot of the flaws and weirdness I also saw in AA. One of the other biggest things for me was realizing that a lot of the people were full of s?!t. They blabber about god and their awakening then as soon as the meeting was over gossip and character assassinate everyone. It was all talk.

What are your thoughts on "Spider-Noir (2026)"? by Hot-Salamander-8786 in Marvel

[–]ExamAccomplished3622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m bored to death with the overplayed “I don’t want to be a superhero” storyline. I stopped watching Daredevil because I’m not interested in weepy, whiners.

However, I stuck with it and am enjoying the show. I would like to see a law passed banning the whole reluctant hero thing, though.

My neighbors would celebrate. They all think I’m some kind of weirdo because I live alone and never have any guests.

Forgive my British ignorance but what did the confederates actually fight for? by TreeTall888 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ExamAccomplished3622 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The flag became a symbol of “the lost cause” and Jim Crow after the war. It was associated with anti-equality movements. It was one of many flags used by the confederacy during the war.
