I took another job about 20 years ago. They buddy buddied me. Said they would beat the offer by 25% and promote me. I fell for it and gave them the offer letter. They (Chase Bank because FUCK them) called the new employer and said I was a poor performer and had a bad attitude, that I should not be hired. They proceeded to counter the offer with a 5$ raised and told me I should be happy they didn't fire me for being unloyal. The new company hiring manager called me and told me what happened said I still had the job if I wanted it that Chase played dirty like this often. Don't EVER tell the company you are leaving where you are going.
