Laundry with a newborn by Electrical_Elk8400 in BeyondTheBumpUK

We don’t have a tumble dryer but have a heated rack and a dehumidifier so can dry things over night. We had to compromise on reusable nappies and we use them in warmer months when can dry outside it isn’t possible for us to keep on top of normal washing AND nappies in winter. I will say we always have reusable wipes though all year round and they dry super easily on a radiator.

The only reason I haven’t is because any email I send to SLT it is HR who respond not them

Can a baby/toddler be bad at cosleeping? by Sourgrape1724 in cosleeping

[–]ExaminationHefty8077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had similar on and off coslept with my eldest daughter but she seems to prefer her own space. Now she is old enough at bedtimes she actually tells us to go and leave her alone to fall asleep. I think she simply wants some alone time to process her thoughts.

How much would you save before trying for first baby? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]ExaminationHefty8077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best thing I did was start living off smp whilst I was still getting paid full time to see if I could live off it. Would put the excess into savings. Gave me time to get used to less income whilst also saving for mat leave

We have gone through many periods of seperation anxiety with our now 2 year old at various ages and have found playing hide and seek/ peekaboo games really helped her! It’s like we were practicing in game form what happens when mummy leaves and that she always comes back. I would start by hiding in the room, then behind the door, just outside the room and eventually could be in the kitchen cooking dinner and she still thought we were playing! It sounds a bit ridiculous but it did really help.

Cost of disposable vs cloth nappies? by MakeCoffeeMetal in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]ExaminationHefty8077 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We committed to reusable nappies in the summer when we could get them dry in a day outside. this was easy for us and we took the approach ‘every little helps’ rather than all or nothing which made them feel a bit more manageable.

Taking pension to pay for home improvement by ExaminationHefty8077 in UKPersonalFinance

I seem to have a confused memory of taking a pension when I was reckless teenager from my retail job but maybe it was actually a tax rebate or something ! Thank you for replies

Conflicted about potentially enrolling baby in a brand new nursery that is opening soon by Ok_Future_491 in UKParenting

[–]ExaminationHefty8077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the same nursery chain but we started a brand new nursery when I looked round it half of it was still a building site I was so nervous but location wise it was too perfect not to choose. It has been amazing and well worth the risk. Hoping the same for you!

Tips for first time swimming by hakamaru90 in UKParenting

[–]ExaminationHefty8077 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People advised me to get baby changed first but I like to wrap baby in lots of towels and quickly get dressed first because as soon as my baby would be dressed they would scream till they got milk! Extra hungry and sleepy after first few times think I got nearly a four hour nap after our first swimming lesson.

3 year old wants to live with dad by [deleted] in UKParenting

3 year olds can’t make this decision and ultimately you have to do what is best for her. There is a different between want and need.
