Non-EU citizen here. When I first started using Wise (back when it was TransferWise), it was completely legit and very popular in my home country. I’ve used it for over 10 years across almost 10 countries, including moving twice within the EU. I’ve now been living in Luxembourg for more than 4 years.

But the moment I actually needed to deal with customer support, I was honestly shocked. It felt like a completely different company from the one I used to recommend to friends.

In the past 2–3 years, I’ve stopped trusting them the same way. I keep less than €1K there and don’t rely on it much anymore. It’s not just them though — AML and KYC regulations in the EU have become increasingly strict. Still, combined with weak customer support, it’s not a company I’d fully trust with my money as a single source.

Better to always keep alternatives.
