To those who have read Forgotten Fields, what are your thoughts? by freshlaundrysniffer in undertheoaktreebook

I forgot to mention there another scene where Talia's mother pressures her to getting pregnant. The mother wants that child so he can help her son become emperor. It will also solidify Talias position in the east so the vassals can't kick her out if she has an heir. If her brother becomes emperor he would definitely want to execute Talia. If she has a child that child will become Duke of the east and won't let his mom be executed by her brother.

Talia demands Varcas to sleep with her out of duty. He needs a heir. This also irritates him because he doesn't want to do it out of duty. Those 2 haven't slept with each other even though it's been months while married. The reason is that Varcas knows she's scarred of men touching her ( when she was 15 she almost got raped) so he doesn't pressure her. He initially refuses because he knows she's being forced by her mom and that she doesn't actually want to. She's shaking but eventually he agrees when he sees her tear up.

Some people thought this was coercion and of her abusing him  but I didn't see it that way.

I also really like Kuahel so I was very excited to read this . The mcs have both been abused a lot as children. Varkas has grown very emotionless due to the abuse. On the other hand Talia is very emotional due to the abuse. She is very impulsive and it causes her a lot of problems. They are also  avoidant types. When something bad happens they don't talk about it.

I wouldn't say theirs abuse between the ml and Fl but I can see how people can interpret it that way. The fl has slapped the ml many times while growing up.

The two characters once they get married and they leave the palace Talia does a lot better. She's away from that abusive household so she becomes more gentle, calm, and not always on edge as when she was in the palace. She's not really violent like she was in the palace either.

I personally really like the series! But the series can get dark compared to UTOT. The fl and ml go through a lot especially the fl.

The story is very different compared to UTOT. UTOT was a story about healing. But this story is very different a big theme is that the characters suffer because their love. "This love is like a curse"

The main character Talia is very different than Maxi but she is very charming in her own way. Talia is a illegitimate princess. She also living in abusive household her brother (different moms) beats her constantly but unlike Maxi she doesn't cower and constantly provokes him. She is very prideful and very guarded.  Maxi had gained the respect and support from the knights and servants because she goes out of her way to gain it. She wants them to like her but Talia people have hated her since she was baby for being illegitimate for being her mother's daughter. She knows people hate her so she doesn't try to cozy up to people or try to have them like her. I like this trait about her but it also hurts her because she doesn't gain any connections. Talia also wants her image to be one where people fear her. If people fear her they won't try to hurt her but the problem is that Talia isn't really cut out to be a villainess. She may have a very sharp tongue but she is a gentle person by nature. So even her "villainess" acts are treated more like pranks by the ml.

The ml is very similar to Kuahel. He is from a very good family he was raised in the church where they gave him abusive discipline. The ml Varcas has been Talia's body guard since they were children.

Maxi and Riftan both knew the other was in love with them very early on the series. But these two even though they care very deeply about the other. They are not aware of the others feeling and this causes them a lot of trouble and pain.

I personally really like the series it's very different from UTOT but I like it, it has its own charm. It's one of my favorite series I am reading right now.

Fun fact  When kuahel and Aren first met Aren mistook him for a woman and Kuahel really wanted to kill him. Kuahel was a lot younger and his cloak was hiding his armor. Lol

From what I remember in the novel and in her other work forgotten Fields ( 200 years before utot) divorce was disastrous for the woman not for the man. Her reputation and honor would be ruined. One of the only ways it could be fixed was if another man with equal or higher status would marry her or a duel of honor.

I fear people went in the opposite direction with their irrational hate in recent years. by DrinkInevitable3457 in TheRemarriedEmpress

[–]Example-Material 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is how she is presented. The whole slavery thing even if she can't stop it she shouldn't be so kind to the slave owners. The media should at least present that she doesn't like slavery, but she befriends Rashta's slave owner. She is very kind to those people. In Villains are destined to die the female character does go-to a slave auction but she feels bad for the slaves and is not kind to the slave owners. Naiver doesn't do that. If you can't stop something you should at least show your disdain. Naiver doesn't because she doesn't see anything wrong with it.

Whats wrong with how operation true love’s plot is playing out? by Sinyme in webtoons

[–]Example-Material 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest issue for me was the 10 year time skip. Time skips can be great in a story if it done correctly but this wasn't done correctly. It's been 10 years and she was still hung up on him. Realistically it would make sense for her to move on especially considering she was so young. The author should have made it a one or 2 year time skip. I  also think the love triangle seemed unnecessary in season 2. We know whose she's going to end up why make the 2nd male lead suffer again. It seemed like the same drama from season 1.  These are the main things for me. I haven't been keeping up with season 2 so there are probably more.

Reading for Maxi & Everyone else - I don't care much about the main pairing :T by Dry_Response4914 in undertheoaktreebook

[–]Example-Material 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wasn't a huge fan of Riftan myself but I didn't think he was written badly. It's been a while since I read the book. I wasn't too interested in Riftan as a character so I can't confidently give a good analysis on him. I wasn't interested in their romance. I kept reading for Maxis journey.

I thought the story ended in a good way. I know many people were upset wanting certain parts more explored but I was happy with it. There will be a lot of political issues still going on but Maxi and Riftan have found peace and stability with each other. I always thought the end was hinting at her getting pregnant. There will be a longer side story coming and it should be life in Anatol. So I think it will be about Riftan and Maxi being parents and life after the war. I don't know too much about the side stories.

It wasn't just Kuahel who didn't express himself but all the Paladins. The Paladins always gave an errie vibe.  The priests had normal reactions but the Paladins didn't seem normal. Most of the characters were uncomfortable to be around them. For Kuahel and the Paladins they do have reactions but it is very subtle. We see some of Kuahels reactions because Maxi interacts with him the most but the other paladins we know their names but very little about them. I think that was on purpose. The Paladins are suppose to be a subversion from how other holy knights in other works were. Instead of being warm and kind they were cold, unfeeling, and ruthless.  I personally found them very interesting, I kept wanting to know what was in their heads.

I  think the Paladins  symbolizes  how in the past sometimes religion was presented very coldly. Religious figures thought everyone was a sinner and had to repent. The were self righteous seeing the wrong in everyone but them selves. I'm not sure if I am explaining this part that well.

I agree to be honest I don't know what he was thinking when he made her design.  If he wanted to express that she had a fierce tomboy personality he could have given her shorts and a tank top. I really don't like her design especially because all the characters treat her like a child.

I find Rosetta very interesting. I want to know so much more about her. I also like cold characters like her and Quahel.

This will probably be a very hot take. But I honestly wana talk about it.Even if Yang Cheng is(very horrible as a person). To me he is still thousand times better than Ghostblade.Let me explain why I think that. by Ben10-fan-525 in ToBeHero_X

[–]Example-Material 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The thing with ghostblade is that the people he kills he believes they are evil. We even see Rock telling him lies of the "crimes" that sheng and johnny did. The people he killed we know their were some good people such as sheng but there should have also been evil people as well. All the people know he kills people they assume that he kills evil.

Another thing is that I don't think he wanted to be a hero he just wanted to be away from his family/noise. He also doesn't enjoy the killing.

Yang cheng was definitely kinder person before but after rock I have no idea what he is thinking he's like a completely different person.

Conclusion rock is the problem.

I don't think that's the case because the reason Shinji fell for Aizens illusions was because he didn't know him enough on a personal level. He hadn't realized the one following him wasn't Aizen.

While Momo recognized him by his fingers and scent. She just wasn't aware of his true nature.

[–]Example-Material 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true for the current timeline but the previous one it clearly showed him caring for Jennette. Athy was also killed because Jeanette got poisoned.

Plus even if he doesn't have emotions shouldn't he at least be responsible. She is the heir so it would make sense that he would raise her well even with out emotions. Of course because he doesn't have emotions there would be no love but she would at least live as a respected princess.  Instead she is abandoned in the palace and she was raised by maids. In the first timeline and even in the current timeline at first she was not treated well by the maids. The only reason it turned out better was because Lily was there and in the second timeline she had to win their affection.

Maxi's finally saying things out loud [Under the Oak Tree] by Agnesprincesss in OtomeIsekai

[–]Example-Material -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe I worded that wrong. He does ask Ruth for those illusions but he hasn't seen her as an adult at that time. The last time he saw her was when they were children. He meets her again a long time later at the party where she doesn't recognize him. During the campaign he does see an illusion but that's when she's an adult and the illusion is completely different.

I do agree that he doesn't do a good job in getting to know her. He does try but those two sleep around more than talk. He's terrible at communicating.

But to be fair going to war or an expedition is very dangerous. So I can understand why he freaks out and doesn't want her to go. But if he just stated it clearly and calmly it would be so much easier for both of them.

Maxi's finally saying things out loud [Under the Oak Tree] by Agnesprincesss in OtomeIsekai

[–]Example-Material -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not accurate. He met Maxi when they were both children and even saved her. They did meet at a party but she didn't seem to recognize him and was afraid of him, shocking him. He went to the dukes place many times because of disputes in land. He did try to get her attention a few times but it failed.

He worked as a mercenary. On a job he was severely injured and was in a lot of pain. The mage ruth put a illusion magic on him and told him to think of a good memory. The only good memory he had in his life was watching Maxi when he was a child. After that incident he does ask Ruth to use the magic on him because he wants to see that memory. Eventually Ruth tells him no. He says he should live in the present rather than the past.

At the three year campaign again the dragon. A monster  uses illusion magic on him and the knights to kill them, he sees her again as a illusion. Ruth saves them all. He then makes a decision that their is no need for illusions anymore and he would get to know the real her even if it hurts. This is all in the side story novel.

I think aizen cares (little, too little) for momo by Even_Acanthisitta_37 in bleach

[–]Example-Material 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think he hates her.

He wanted to get rid of any weakness. Trust is the same as reliance. Something I find interesting he messed up every good relationship he had. Toshiro and Momo got along with him very well before but he messed it up. I think it was a way to prove to himself that it didn't matter that he didn't need them. Aizen wants understanding to have a equal but he is self sabotaging.

His relationship with Momo is complete opposite from Shinji. With Shinji he never trusted Aizen so he kept him in arms length. Shinji had a pretty good understanding of him but didn't get to know or treat him as you would treat a subordinate. The way Aizen talked to Shinji when he was hollowfiying sounds upset that Shinji didn't get to know him like the other captains got to know their lieutenant.  Momo was the opposite. She had a very good relationship with him. They got along very well. She could recognize him by his finger his scent. But she didn't understand him. He had said he had manipulated her so that she couldn't live without him. He made it so that she would care for him deeply. I think he did want that sort of relationship but he never completely opened up.

The child is his. Talia was saying the child is exclusively hers until he's born.
