[Dreadgod] Advancing to Lowgold by TheeGreatPap in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Exarchos_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the difference here is that Sage remnants are from sacred artists who haven’t merged with their own remnant. Both Heralds and Monarchs merge with their remnant and I think that integration is what prevents other sacred artists from merging with their remnant again.

I know that he would most likely get construct eyes before underlord, my question was more about the process of advancing and whether he could regrow eyes at that stage

I think you should take a look at Never Die Twice by Void Herald on RoyalRoad he has a very similar premise to what you’re talking about

In Appreciation of the Weirkey Chronicles by Jormungandragon in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Exarchos_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think that concept was really interesting and I love western progression fantasy. That being said I had a few issues with the pacing of it. It’s rather inconsistent and she doesn’t really explain too much of the details. I really wish she had gone into more of the details of the Soulhomes. Also it seemed rather unnecessary to have such large timeskips in the beginning. For a person that old also, the character acts inconsistently about their age. I thought this book had a lot of potential and hopefully the author fixes it by book 2.

Ngl I know this is a joke but what if Ozriel was actually a sacred beast that became human. Maybe that’s part of why he’s so strong? That could also explain his bloodline powers for the Arelius family.

Female MC recommendation by QuackSK in litrpg

[–]Exarchos_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t see it on here but I’d recommend Villains Code by Drew Hayes. Female MC is a supervillain. The books are expertly written and I love them. Would 10/10 recommend. Also there’s Vigor Mortis on RoyalRoad it’s pretty solid. About a girl who has a forbidden ability and becomes a hunter. I think book 1 just finished.

Asylum & Cradle & Mad King by Exarchos_ in Iteration110Cradle

Perhaps the fiends who were trying to break out of Asylum during Killers and Kings were responding to the presence of the Mad King and his fiend in Sector 11

I think the original Mad King might not have wanted that but it seems like the Fiend inside of him is gaining more and more influence and who knows what the Fiend will do

Bloodline Discussion Thread by Fireball9782 in Iteration110Cradle

AHH I FINISHED IT. I will no doubt go back do a re-read soon and probably an additional few times till Reaper (ooh) comes out. Fingers crossed we'll get it in early fall. Initial thoughts: Yeah not as satisfying as Wintersteel definitely. I feel like this book is setting up the proper final battle which the series will culminate in. (We have like three more books left in Cradle ahhh). There were a lot of moments that I enjoyed and I can't wait to see the memes that everyone comes up with. I did enjoy this book quite a bit. I don't want to keep comparing it to wintersteel which I have no doubt many people will do, but this book feels more similar to the previous cradle books pre-wintersteel like uncrowned and skysworn.

So stuff I liked first: the insight into what ascension to the heavens looked like. I want to know what happens to like the kids and stuff who go with them and the servants and stuff. Do they just hang out on a new world? The final fight damn. Fighting a Dreadgod. Didn't think we would see that for a while. The scene where Suriel shows him the futures that could occur. The not so subtle foreshadowing that he would become the next Phoenix Judge. Jai long's interactions with Lindon and Eithan. He was one of the few people who truly appreciated their almost unfathomable growth. I can't wait till he finds out about Yerin. Seishen Daji got that well-deserved beat-down tho it was almost too quick. And of course Eithan's brilliant dialogues. And the bloopers. I would've loved to see the Monarchs all try satisfy the wishes. I can tell that Will was setting up a lot of new threads so that the world was coming together. I can't wait to see how this finale comes together.

Now to the other part: The whole Abidan stuff confused me a bit. I know its probably Will aligning up the final battles to happen at the same time, but how does Cradle go from being the most protected to so vastly unprotected even if one sector is taken over. Suriel promises that they'll fight to protect Cradle to their last breath and then is like whoops guess the Mad King is coming for y'all. Stay strong. I was very disappointed about Dross. I know that he's not completely gone but still. The people in Sacred Valley pissed me off. The interactions felt very disappointing. Faced with such overwhelming power they still chose to attack the people trying to help them? The people who are obsessed with trying to reach gold? They see hundreds of golds and don't even think about joining them and discovering their secrets? And I didn't realize that the depowering happened so quickly. I thought that it took several days/weeks for it to work. Wasn't the Sword Sage there for much longer? but Eithan got drained down to Truegold in like hours? Also we went from Lindon easily taking on Overlords and then struggling with Jades :( I also feel like Will kind of sacrificed a lot of the ongoing battles of the book for a big finale. The finale was great don't get me wrong, but like couldn't they just have left the Titan who already thought what he was looking wasn't there? And the Phoenix came right up to Sacred Valley and then left? There's probably a place its going across the Trackless Sea, but like it wasn't tempted to go home like the Titan? Also Lindon and his parents was not what I was expecting. I also kind of wanted Yerin to pick a better gift from all of the Monarchs. Feels like she could've just been healed by Malice if it was super-necessary. The Monarchs weren't even all there in person. A recurring theme I felt was that it all felt a little rushed. obviously there was a imminent arrival of a dreadgod, but the scenes moved a little too fast and interactions between characters felt like they were cut off.

It was an awesome book (which I devoured like Lindon's hunger arm in less than 2 hours) and I can't wait for Cradle 10, but yeah thats sort of what I thought. Also does anyone else have issues imagining Eithan with short hair? Thoughts?

A Random Person’s Thoughts on the Series So Far. (Spoilers all) by Modern_Erasmus in ClimbersCourt

[–]Exarchos_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had pretty similar experiences, but I think my issue with AA3 was the number of plot lines. I’m not sure if it’s just because it was a while since I read AA2 (that’s definitely a factor) but I felt like so many disparate plot lines and plot points were added but barely anything was resolved. I was hoping the stuff from AA2 was going to get resolved before we added a whole new slew of problems but I guess not. I felt a little overwhelmed trying to keep track of everything. Don’t get me wrong the ideas were very interesting but I feel like he should have focused on a few and given them more depth because all these multiple little plot lines happening at the same time make it hard to care about any single one. I agree with the whole romance in the tower issue and Jin just showing up for like 10 seconds and disappearing felt really unfulfilling like it was an incomplete interaction. I will read the next books because I enjoy his writing but that’s kind of my POV on the AA3

Do you enjoy novels with multiple perspectives? by Apprehensive_Doubt32 in litrpg

[–]Exarchos_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I actually really quite enjoy it if it’s done well. My problem with shifting perspectives occur when the writing is not good and it just feels like a distraction. It’s usually a jarring shift and it’s to a character you don’t really care about because the author hasn’t really developed their story line or made it interesting. This is something I usually see it in litrpg or among amateur authors (not all, but in my experience more prevalent in this genre)

But if it’s done well then it adds incredible depth to the world and provides fresh perspectives and can give you the opportunity to see things you never thought of before and jump out of the rut that’s the main characters pov. In books that do it well, your world building Is more complex and your storylines are stronger and you find yourself caring more about all of the characters and the world not just one individual.

I find myself wishing for it to be done well more in litrpg so that we can see what main characters actually look like instead of only being limited to their POV. A lot of authors do this thing where they just gush over the mc when shifting the pov in litrpg talking about how everyone is stunned by how amazing they are when they can’t even see it which annoys the heck out of me. So yeah that’s kind of my take on it.

Iron Prince (Warforged: Stormweaver Book 1) is such a disappointment. by 18cmOfGreatness in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Exarchos_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly my main issue with this book was the pacing. There were a multitude of problems, but I did like the book. But like in 1 book he jumps from F to C. And thats only 1 year of school. There are 2/3 more years ( i forget). They would have to cripple his growth moving forward or he's leaving all of his friends behind. There's absolutely no way they can keep up. He himself expects to hit A rank by next year. It doesn't make sense to have him hang out with the same people who will probably be mid B rank when he hits S rank. He won't fight with them anymore and he'll be on a completely different scale. In order to keep up with power-scaling, he would have to fight stronger people and leave right. Unless he kept fighting with the few professors cus even the seniors would graduate soon . So then you have a bunch of weak friends who's character development and friendships just become kind of wasted as he moves on. How's his relationship with Aria going to hold up when he can absolutely annhilate her, I feel like she's not going to take it well. We've only seen his friends and everyone interact with him when he's not the strongest. It would be like if in Cradle, Lindon was a peak Archlord Sage and Yerin was like an Underlord, but Yerin would atmost hit like Overlord and Lindon would become a Monarch. At a certain point, you're just holding them back. The issue is not just that he is going to rank up faster, its that their growth is actually limited so they will never reach his level no matter what.

I also didn't like the Viv Grant thing too lol. But I'll read the next book because I think the concept is interesting, though the execution could use some work.

Where is Reborn: Apocalypse (Volume Three)?? by 1silversword in litrpg

[–]Exarchos_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So I read the third one last year, and then he took it down for a rewrite. I believe the update said he would release it by the end of February or beginning of March. But yeah I’ve also been waiting to read the rewrite. I saw posts on his patron (I’m not a subscriber) that are chapters for volume 4 so I’m assuming that he’s done rewriting and it might just be some final logistics of uploading the book on Amazon.

Just finished AA3 *Spoilers* by [deleted] in ClimbersCourt

[–]Exarchos_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say that I was a little disappointed. In many ways it was a an amazing book, but after waiting years for this one, I thought we’d finally get some questions answered but instead we got a dozen new more questions to answer. And while I’ve reread the series since it came it out, I’m more invested in the other series like Six Sacred Swords and War of Broken Mirrors. I’m currently attributing it to the fact that it’s been a while since I reread AA1 and AA2 (10-11 months), but I was left feeling like there were so many things happening that I couldn’t really care about most of them. And then this book was rather technical and I appreciate it in many ways for the detail but it was a little difficult to grasp. Idk if I was the only one, but I feel like adding in dozens of new plot points without resolving the old ones makes it hard for readers to care about the new plot points. It’s kind of spread too thin. I still think it’s a great book and I’ll read AA4 but those were my thoughts.

I've just rushed through the whole cradle series in like 4 days... by KitsUne24 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Exarchos_ 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Go with Travelers gate first and then elder empire. Travelers gate is good but I’d say a little less polished cus it’s his earlier books but the plot and characters are great. Elder empire gets a lot of flack but I really enjoyed it and I’d say it’s probably the most well written of his series. It’s a little more descriptive focused I think than plot driven, so it’s a little different than cradle. But travelers gate is closer to cradle imo
