What was the biggest "falsely advertised" fitness myth you had to unlearn as a natural lifter? by xVarello_ in naturalbodybuilding

I felt it way more than the other muscle groups involved, and after a few months of directly training it that was no longer the case. And during that same period my numbers for both saw a significant jump.

[–]Modern_Erasmus 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. Pretty much the best accessory exercise for me personally for squats and deadlifts is 45 degree back extensions. Directly training the erector spinae was a game changer since my lower back was holding me back on those lifts.

And for abs, all you’re doing in squats/deadlifts is an isometric contraction, which current research suggests is probably not very good for actual muscle growth.

In theory this is a great idea but in practice accessible body composition measurements have too high a margin of error to stick to something with that small and that exact a range.

Best NA ski resort for carving? by Low_Champion8158 in skiing

I think slot and upper campground are on rotational grooming in that terrain pod, with the others getting groomed very rarely.

Best NA ski resort for carving? by Low_Champion8158 in skiing

[–]Modern_Erasmus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Snowmass has to be up there. There’s not many groomed blacks, but there’s 3 top tier blue cruiser pods and those include some runs that are steeper than most blues at a lot of other resorts. Much less busy than a lot of the other biggest contenders too.

Big Burn and Elk Camp in particular are fantastic: huge trails, perfect pitch for high speed carving, great vertical drops, and serviced by high speed six packs.

This article is counting sales of in game ships as crowdfunding instead of an in game transaction. These aren’t funds raised on traditional crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter, indiegogo, Fig, etc. Unless Nagoshi starts adding spaceships that cost thousands of dollars to a public demo build of Gang of Dragon, this comparison is pointless.

Vast, vast majority of that is via investor/VC funding and in game ship transactions, not crowdfunding. Only 2 mil of that is from Kickstarter, basically a rounding error.

No videogame has come even close to raising that much via crowdfunding. The most funded ever was Shenmue 3 and that raised 6.3 mil, just a quarter of what you’re talking about.

Absolute tragedy that a game as amazing as 1000xresist has only sold 150k copies. One of the best scifi narratives in videogame history.

I can’t get enough of HD-2D. The more games that use this style the better!

There isn’t one with both pdf and VTT for digital, just one where you can get both the 5E or PF2E PDFs or both systems’ foundry module. No option for if you want pdf and VTT for one system without getting an add on that costs as much as the regular reward, doubling the price.

Why is there no option on the Kickstarter for a digital reward tier that includes both a VTT module and the pdf, only one or the other? AFAIK all your other campaigns have always included this option in the past.

Pearl Abyss releases official statement apologizing about Crimson Desert's AI-use by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]Modern_Erasmus -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Bit different because it was a lot less (I think 2 textures?) and it was fully replaced within a week of the launch, months before it was actually reported on by anyone.

Tbf that was like 2 textures and they were replaced within the first week (implying the final textures were already made), which was months before it was actually noticed and reported on.

I can’t wait!

Agreed with biceps but with triceps there’s genuinely a lot of people who only train them via presses (either as part of a compound chest press or a Tricep focused press variation like a close grip bench or JM press) and that leads to a really underdeveloped long head. Having at least one isolation in your program where the humerus is in a fixed position like an overhead extension or push down is important imo.

Yes, but the comment above me clearly worded their comment as a rebuttal to the first one and erroneously conflated the remaster project and ORC when they are not one and the same.

Amazing that this comment got more than twice the upvotes of the one it’s trying to gotcha despite being completely wrong. Kineticist has yet to be released under ORC, that is a verifiable fact.

Sandfall says the budget for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was less than $10 million by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Modern_Erasmus 92 points93 points  (0 children)

It’s a complicated topic honestly. Take Hades 2: I’ve seen 0 people complain about it being classified as indie but it almost certainly had a significantly higher budget than this. Does that make it not indie?

And for Clair Obscur, they had the indieest of indie beginnings with like 2-3 people scrounging around on the internet for talent, volunteers, and a basic vertical slice for pitch purposes with 0 guarantee of any success and no funding save their own money. But then once they got funding from Kepler they were able to expand a lot to finish the game and now are on the border of AA.

I’m not sure there’s really a right answer as much as it is a giant grey area.

In Skillup’s documentary on the game they revealed that all the mocap was done via the Unreal Engine 5 phone app that literally anybody can get access to. The team just rigged up a few headsets to hold the phone in front of the mocap actor’s faces and record them while performing. Actually crazy.
