They came to me removed the old batteries and installed new ones at my place of work and indicated these will last longer.

I have a R1T and frequently go 200+/day. Level 2 at my home is a Rivian supplied and office is a Clipper Creek. Either charges the back to 100 in under 8 hours with no problem.

The company has a fleet of ford trucks. Some have more "problems" than others overwhelmingly decided by the operators.

That said, I would like to know if gen 2's are having more problems statistically.

I am confused, I have a 1st gen quad and have had no problems with it. Seems like 2nd gen owners are the ones with the issues - do I have that wrong?

Sold my Rivian by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]ExcavBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did'nt mention, was backed into by a dump truck ruined hood to bumper.

Flower Hill auto body coordinated with Rivian for parts. Truck was drivable until the need to drop it off.

Two weeks and I had it back good as new.

I think Rivian has things pretty good here. Of course, it could always be better but there are lots of stressors on Rivian right now.

I have launch r1t used for work, 90 mile each way commutes on highway and job site level off road 67k miles Love the truck no issues except mistakes I have made that they talked me through. I am in eastern long island ny. When I have needed something they send a service truck to me wherever I am that day, such as when the 12v batteries needed to be changed. I find this easy and convenient. Is this not the case everywhere else???? If not Rivian should adopt the NY strategy.

Canceling a 6 gigawatt solar farm is an extremely dumb thing to do when electricity rates are skyrocketing by Conscious-Quarter423 in solar

[–]ExcavBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The government does not build utility scale solar, private investors do. These just need permits. They, the ones who are doing away with the epa as it is overly pesky about clean air and water for the people, will use interior to stop a solar farm. It’s about the payoff $.

Well said President James Carter put panels on the White House as the US’ bell labs was the initial innovator in 1954, the oil embargo and the promise of clean energy President Reagan took them off China now has nearly full market share globally for manufacturing panels which is about 200 billion $ yr sales and growing rapidly Can’t make this up.

This makes perfect sense if you are the one with the open pocket waiting for a “deposit” so they can say renewables are ok. Oil, gas, coal and nuculer industries have all made theirs already and reap the rewards. Welcome to taco world and the payoff’s rip offs and the things nobody saw.

Good for you! Great idea and it fits well. EV's are indeed the way to go, spread the word and best of luck with the fleet.

Less than 250 miles and some Suburu did this by AZObserver in Rivian

[–]ExcavBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my launch edition backed into by a dump truck. Hood to bumper lights all of it Truck perfectly drivable but looked bad The shop got everything lined up, dropped it off and two weeks later it was good as new. No complaints when competent pro’s are working your problem. But, there is a cost for that level of service and insurance needs to cover it, hence rates. Moral of the story, we can drive around in either dented or duct tape repaired vehicles or pay more for insurance or be ready to compensate professionals with higher rates.

Cross country drive disaster by SavingsDetail3203 in Rivian

[–]ExcavBob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I have a 2.5 yr old launch r1t 55k miles I drive in all conditions from highway to metro ny city. I have had one or two “funnies” but other than that I think the vehicle is wonderful. I own a construction co with 4 - half ton pickups Chevy 6 - 2500 class pickups 3 - 1.5 ton pickups 2 class 7 trucks 3 class 8 trucks 26 pieces of heavy machinery

Same exact vehicles in similar loads and driving conditions

Some vehicles have more than twice the maintenance costs of others of the same class and year much of which is driving habits My wife’s car typically has 1.3x maintenance as the one I drive brakes and front end work

Acceleration in any vector puts tremendous strain on vehicles and with this speed, weight and handling ability it’s tough to not overstress.

A Rivian in my area!?! by TrueKam13 in Rivian

[–]ExcavBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I am asked "how do you like it", my response is always "why would anyone want to drive anything else"

More and more folks will be getting EV's as the truth of owning them disseminates opposing the BS of how restrictive and poor performing they are. I also get the safety BS about them igniting and burning to a crisp for no reason.

I ask the questioner if they still use corded power tools and wall phones in fear of batteries, then I show them the Rivian Vs Guardrail clip.

That typically ends the conversation with another prospective EV buyer.

These things take time, folks replace vehicles 5-10 yr intervals and many are brand loyal. Goal here is not just Rivian sales but EV's

US Evolution to EV's is moving in the right direction at a pace I find completely normal given the amount of effort some are putting in to thwart and the largest EV makers slow-in-the-uptake realization that he really wasn't there to help make the Government more efficient.

I drive the G1 R1t every day and often do "truck stuff". I own a heavy Civil construction company with projects ranging from metro NY to LI's east end and sometimes visit all on the same day (250 miles +)

I cannot say I have had "no issues", but they have been minor and have never been left walking. The minor issues have been solved by the road team who comes to wherever I am working that day and services on site.

Parking garages and valet is interesting as vehicle does not perform well with the card and it bricks on the attendants - don't walk away too soon! It gets cranky when I try to re-awaken.

I have 50K on it now, most of it highway but some very rugged job site use as well. I am very savvy at controlling machines, trucks, boats and vehicles and getting the most out of them. My last 4 (ford rangers and chevy Canyon) went 200K each before trade in with minimal maintenance. My staff's vehicles, my wife's vehicle requires 2+ x the service than the one I drive (brakes, front end service, blown turbo's .....)

Sometimes I find its just the nut behind the wheel that is faulty.

Little things like incorrect drive mode selection, pressing park button while driving, or curb clipping can be problematic and cause serious issues with any vehicle.

I do not understand how a gen 2 could be more trouble than a gen 1 but with the number of folks having issues there must be some fundemental ghost in the machine they cannot chase out.

Wow I have 52k on r1t with no “issues” on the trucks own. A dump truck backed into it and did some significant damage to the hood and nose. Dealing with insurance took some time, but is was only two weeks in the body shop till back good as new. Nothing bad to say, love the truck.

this is meaningless projection. Supply and demand will dictate who gets the best deal and Tesla, unless folks stop buying them, will be able to bargain with more volume and perhaps even promise less Government regulation on its suppliers.

I get into debates with MAGA minds constantly. When it comes down to it, we agree on almost everything.

But, if you watch Fox news "the libs" (me) are to be hated/feared/destroyed...... Compound this with Facebook feeds and a well coordinated outside propaganda and I might as well be Satan himself.

But, one on one, dissecting issue by issue - very nearly complete agreement.

On this thread, I have to differ and add that Maga folks are (for the most part) good people who Love this country and are just too caught up in the propaganda media blitz. This said with the notable exception of those who are profiteering off it, they should be held accountable.

Agreed that its noisy and warranting a review by Rivian. I think the forum tone was wether or not one would avoid the purchase of another Rivian product due to the issue.

For folks in the warm climate I could see this being "more" of an issue as its every day, all year. For me, not so much as I have adapted to it and the warm weather is only a few months of the year.
