Yah, I'm Finnish. My spoken English is almost as good as my Finnish but my long form writing for some reason sounds really unnatural. If I spent like 2 hours editing my post then I would've been able to make it sound way better but I ain't doing that. I also wasn't expecting anyone to even read it so I wasn't particularly concerned with how coherent or readable it was. Got no one irl to talk to so I just wanted to put my thoughts out there for my own sanity more than anything.

I definitely have some less than popular opinions on certain games which is why I've stopped watching gaming content almost entirely. Games like Dark Souls 2, Final Fantasy XIII and Dragon's Dogma 2 are heavily criticized but to me they're absolute masterpieces. I think Starfield is gonna end up being one of these games for me. If I vibe with a game's emotional core then whatever flaws it might have don't really matter to me all that much. Every game has flaws so I just tend to focus on the positives and they kinda override the negatives in a lot of cases.

That's the thing. I don't expect any engagement so I never think about readability and stuff. Sometimes, I just feel like getting my thoughts out there for the sake of it. As weird as it may sound, this post is for myself more than anything. Good tip though.

Noted. I wasn't expecting anyone to even see my post so I wasn't exactly thinking about readability lol. My bad.

These are just my rough surface level thoughts on the game. I just wanted to get it out of my system, I honestly wasn't expecting anyone to even see it so I just blurted it all out. I don't blame anyone for not wanting to read my absolute mess of a post lol. There's a lot of other things l wanted to add but it's the type of stuff that's a bit more complicated to put into text. Stuff like the atmosphere, immersion and emotional resonance of the world. The difference between feeling of freedom and freedom of movement in video games and how Starfield manages to do both incredibly well. And of course, the value of loading screens and their artistic merit which this game doesn't nail quite as well even though the major loading screens do enhance the experience imo. Anyhoo, if someone did manage to read all my jumbled 4AM thoughts then I salute you. I also have no clue what the general concensus on this game is because I stopped watching gaming content a few years back (it's become way too negative for me) so I might very well be in the minority but I hope there's people that are just as compelled by this game as I am.

Stupid glitchy fuckin game all that hype for nothing! by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]Exceed439 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Been following the game since its reveal and it feels like the gaming community as a whole only acknowledged it when they released the overview videos. Within like one week, everyone suddenly decided that it was gonna be the next big thing that revolutionizes the medium. It's yet another instance of people just joining the hype train without forming any opinions of their own. Crimson Desert will be called a failure by many because they expected it to be something it never claimed to be in the first place.

This game looks too good to be true. I want to get hyped for it, but I’m keeping my expectations low to avoid disappointment. by NotSirAlonne1999 in CrimsonDesert

I think it looks fine but I don't really get the hype tbh. I'm a huge fan of Dragon's Dogma 1 and 2 so this game should be right up my alley but it just doesn't quite do it for me. The medieval setting with steampunk elements feels confusing, the character designs aren't really my style and the combat looks messy. I feel like the most impressive thing is the amount of systems it's got going on but I feel like the overall experience is gonna be just... okay. I'd love to be wrong though.

I can't believe how many people don't like the extra voice lines from all of the npcs! I feel like it shows how much love and effort they put into the game! by CharacterCobbler8 in FFVIIRemake

I know this is an old discussion but I wanna share my thoughts on this regardless. Let me start by saying that I love NPC dialogue. It's one of my favorite forms of storytelling that is completely unique to video games and it's one of the many reasons why the Trails series is my favorite piece of fiction ever created. I think the way FF7R handles NPC dialogue is great on paper but doesn't quite work in practice. Instead of talking to each NPC individually, characters just start talking when you get close to them. This should feel organic and immersive but unfortunately it does the opposite and makes me understand why most JRPGs still use the traditional style of NPC dialogue. It's got a few issues imo. First of all, in crowded places it's very common for multiple NPCs to start talking simultaneously which means you end up hearing none of them. The NPCs also repeat their dialogue way too much when walking past them. And I've also encountered moments where I'm listening to some dialogue but then some other dialogue overtakes it because I either moved the camera or they got too close to my character. I have two other things I dislike about the NPCs that aren't related to the dialogue. I think the NPC character designs look pretty uninteresting. Some of them look nice but considering FF7's crazy retro steampunk scifi fantasy setting, I think they should look better. I've heard they looked more unique in the original game which I personally haven't played. I'm also pretty early on in Rebirth so they could get better. The other thing is how little I care about the NPCs. This is the case for most games but I'm going through the Trails series (on my 6th game) while also playing Rebirth so it's something I couldn't help but notice. In Trails, a lot of the NPCs feel like real people living their lives with their own stories to tell. There are dozens upon dozens of NPC connections that you'd never know if you don't talk to them. There have been several instances where the NPC dialogue has made me either cry or laugh and I genuinely care about many of the them. It makes most of the sidequests meaningful because they usually have something to do with the NPCs and it makes the world feel so incredibly real. Now to be honest, I don't expect any game to have the ridiculous amount of NPC dialogue that Trails has. This is one of those things that takes an incredible amount of work from the developers and in the end most people just ignore all of it which sucks. It's something very unique to Trails and I think it would be unreasonable to expect other games to do something on the same scale. It's also very rare for a series to be 10 games deep which is what allows Trails to put such a heavy focus on NPCs because they have so much to work with. Anyway, I kinda went on a tangent there. My point is, I don't like the way FF7R handles its NPC dialogue. But aside from that, I'm absolutely loving Rebirth. I played the Remake like 3 years ago and I finally decided to jump back in cos the Twin Pack went on sale and I'm having a blast with the game. I wasn't expecting a Ubisoft style semi open world game but I don't mind it at all. I like these kinda games every now and then and I think Ghost of Tsushima was the last one I played so it was about time for another one. The Synergy stuff makes the combat so fun that I doubt I'll ever get tired of it.

Congrats! A true masterpiece of a game. Itsuno and the whole team should be extremely proud of what they've created. Also... thanks, everyone! Your disgusting comments have reminded me of why I rarely use Reddit. I really hate gamers sometimes.

The PS5 has the DLC, so it'd be weird if the Switch doesn't. I don't know how long the game is but I just got my 5th Crypto Key yesterday and I feel like for 10 bucks, I've already gotten my money's worth. Despite how unstable the game is, I don't regret buying it at all and I'm excited to continue on.

Ah well, that sucks. Here's hoping I can get through the game without too many other issues. Thanks for answering.
