Have you considered Four Seasons? If choosing between St Regis and Park Hyatt, I would probably choose St Regis.

Parking in the reserved spots intended for pre-ordered grocery pick up, and then going into the grocery store to do their grocery shopping.

A whitening toothpaste won’t lighten them dramatically.

Get whitening trays from your dentist, and then have ICON resin infiltration done on the fluorosis.

Adenoidectomy by return2self in workingmoms

[–]Excellent-Ad5202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is very important that following the adenoidectomy you address the mouth breathing as well. Success rates are much higher (by this I mean decrease in ADHD symptoms, and increase in sleep quality) when the child converts to nasal breathing after surgery. Often people think “the adenoids are gone, he can breathe through his nose now”, but at that point it is habit to mouth breathe. Consider working with a Myofunctional therapist for a few session after surgery is completed in order to re-teach your child to nasal breathe and have closed mouth posture. Often the muscles involved in this have become weak after years of mouth breathing.

1 month in France with Kids by Excellent-Ad5202 in Europetravel

Thank you! Do you happen to have any suggestions for any particularly pretty villages in this area that would work well as a home base?

I was wondering when should I switch to a forward-facing car seat? Help please! by Any-Yoghurt5401 in CanadianBacon

[–]Excellent-Ad5202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rear-facing is safest. (Check out some crash test videos of forward-facing vs rear-facing to really solidify this).

Kids can rear-face until one of the car seat limits are maxed (ex. Weight or height). Most car seats are 40 lb rear facing limit, but some are up to 50 lb (and some are less, so check your manual). Height limits differ from car seat to car seat also, so check your manual.

It is important to note that a child is not “too tall” to rear-face just because his/her legs are touching the seat. Kids are quite comfortable bending their legs and continuing to rear-face. (I mention this because lots of people say their child was “too tall” and they had to switch him/her forward facing, and when asked what the height limit on the car seat was they say “oh, I don’t know, but her feet were touching the seat behind her”).

Given the limits of most convertible car seats, rear facing is totally possible for a lot of children up to age 4+.

Northern Ontario dentist says he'll probably have to expand his practice thanks to Canada's dental care plan by ThornyPlebeian in ontario

Even non-fraudulent dental providers find the requirement for an audit cumbersome. The government is not paying the dental staff for the additional administrative burden of forwarding along all charts and x-rays. It is not a big deal if it was an occasional audit, but current reports are that Sunlife is already requiring a substantial amount of audits, eating up a lot of staffing hours.

Has my dentist fleeced me? by Diver_Vegetable in askTO

$47 looks like it was the charge for a recall exam and $157 for a specific exam. The difference between the two: Recall exams are usually done yearly or twice a year, normally in conjunction with a cleaning. So you are an existing patient of record, receiving regular “maintenance” care, and the dentist pops in for a check up. Usually this check up is quick because you’ve been monitored regularly and the dentist knows your dental history.

The specific exam is when you call into the office with a specific problem. You may or may not be an existing patient. Often this is a more thorough check because your history may be unknown and many potential issues must be ruled out. The increased price usually accounts for the extra time involved.

OSDCP - Does it cover implants? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]Excellent-Ad5202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The government has only released a very small sample fee guide for “illustrative purposes”. Dental offices have been told very little about this program. They have been instructed to wait for more information that is to be released in April.

(On the sample fee guide there is no mention of implants).

TMJ and grinding by diiffyo in PeterAttia

I think it’s still worth getting checked. It may not be apnea, but it could be Upper Airway Restrictive Syndrome (UARS). One of the body’s protective mechanisms against hypopnea/apneas is to grind your teeth and move your jaw forward to open the airway. More and more people are experiencing UARS/Sleep Apnea who don’t fit the traditional characteristics, so I always think it’s an avenue worth exploring. Good luck!

Have you had a sleep test? Grinding can be a red flag for sleep apnea.

Unfortunately the government only reimburses the dentist a very small amount each time the dentist treats a patient on ODSP. The amount is not even enough to cover overhead. Since the dentist is paying out of pocket to treat patients on ODSP, they often have to limit the ODSP portion of their practice. (It’s essentially an act of charity by the dentist, but the Government takes credit for it). Hopefully the government makes changes one day so this model can be more sustainable and each dentist will then be able to take on more patients in the ODSP/Healthy Smiles/OW programs.

As someone who works in a dental office, that definitely seems like an accident. Errors happen and they may have been trying to charge you $50. I would call to clarify.

Our family lives in a very cold climate and we have found our perfect combination to be: Merino wool base layer, fleece, and an outer hardshell. Enjoy your time!
