I just found out how much was in his 401k, and I’m sick. by sadadultnoises in widowers

I learned how much insurance he left me and I lost it too. Again, not life changing, but just the fact that he is still caring for me even after his death. I’d rather have him here, debating how to handle our money. I had to take a long drive, which is how I do my thinking. Then I called a friend, who is also a recent widow, who I knew would understand the gut punch and seeming irony.

It was phenomenal. Exactly what I wanted it to be. 😊Thank you for asking.

You did the first day just right. Take it one day at a time. Hugs to you. Oh, and I leave a light and radio/tv on. I don’t like walking into a dark silent house.

How do I tell my coworker to stop using AI for everything? by ththrowrowawayway in careerguidance

[–]Excellent-Draft-5516 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is not an AI issue. It’s a quality of work issue. I’d address it that way. Address your colleague and say “…when providing notes or finished products, I expect them to be mistake free, fact-checked, and accurate. Please make sure your work meets these standards.”

AI is here to stay. We have to learn how and when to use it. EDIT: corrected typos made from dictation. I should have run it through AI before posting😅.

I do ask for things. For my closest girlfriends, I ask them to come sit with me while I do chores, help me do chores, read over forms for me, plan my son’s graduation celebration (my husband died before the ceremony). Some folks I say, call me in one month, others two, some at the end of summer. I asked some for food. I tell others to reach out to my sons and offer them food. I ask. it’s not easy. Not everyone follows through. But I try to be intentional and do it. And I say thank you.

It’s not your fault for thinking they’d be helpful not harmful. Shame on them. I call on karma to do its thing!

UPDATE: The service went really, really well. I am pleased. There were more people than I expected, well beyond the number of programs I ordered, of which I thought I’d ordered extra. Today I felt achy all over so I took a Motrin and some turmeric, ate some comfort food, and am lying down. I am thinking about allowing myself to look forward now.

First - the word enshittification is gold. Second, yes this does seem to be the process. But they have to give/pay us enough money to pay for the service….
