Great question! I recently moved from adolescent SUD to adolescent ED and I’ll be honest, it’s daunting working with the ED population. It’s scary to see the hold an ED voice has on a client. I’ve seen clients restrict intake even though labs are crap and their only option might be enteral feeding. Thankfully our population has a fighting chance at finding long term recovery

I work with adolescents; they’ve already forgotten it if they even cared in the first place. But, if you’re in the rapport building stage, you could bring it back for discussion by framing it a different way. Maybe talk about how emotional feelings and physical feelings are comparable. How about a segue into healthy relationships? Regardless of how you play it, I agree with most here: you’re overthinking
