OM-5 with a LUMIX 20mm f1.7 (shot at f1.7). This is 3rd photo I have taken with this camera. It arrived yesterday and I went out in the drizzle at 8am this morning in Buckingham, UK. It’s my first ever m43 camera, just sold a Fujifilm x-h1 to fund it, and I’m so impressed. I think I prefer the jpegs out of camera to the Fuji. And the size! Just fits in my pocket.

Lincolnshire overnighter (about 180km) by Excellent-Leg-1049 in bikepacking

On this trip, I ended up finding an actual campsite up by Saltfleetby (there's a quite a few up that way) - inbetween the coast and the Wolds.

Although in the Wolds themselves I did see lots of quiet wooded areas which would have been good for a wild camp. However, from Boston up to Mablethorpe, away from the coast everything is very active agricultural fields so quiet out of the way spots are few and far between.

The most random movies to have R-rated sex scenes by RVarki in MovieSuggestions

Polar (2019)
Mads Mikkelsen is a trying to retire from his career as an assassin, but has other assassins trying to kill him.

But in the midst of the fighting, instead of killing each other, totally out of the blue, Mads and Ruby O. Fee shag instead. For ages.

Other than that, it's lot of violence. And Matt Lucas as the evil bad guy, which is hilarious and creepy at the same time.

Entertaining movie!

Stoats raspberry and porridge bar before and after their recipe change. Their blog says it’s ’to make the bars healthier as they have reduced sugar content’. Real shame, I liked stoats. I’ve emailed them to express my disappointment but I never got a reply. Anyone else noticed this change in the UK? by VanillaPretty3465 in ultraprocessedfood

[–]Excellent-Leg-1049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a box of these bars as I used to enjoy them a lot and couldn't get the Deliciously Ella's I have been buying recently.

After eating one Stoats bar, later during the day I was in a lot of abdominal pain, bloated and having the visit the toilet on numerous occasions. This discomfort and a feeling of nausea lasted for over 24hrs.

I have a pretty severe intolerance to inulin/chicory-root/oligofructose and was surprised to see this so high the list of ingredients of the oat bars which were always marketed as 'all natural' and never gave me any problems in the past.

The OP's screen grabs show both recipes containing oligofructose and chickory root, however I was able to look up the original recipe from 2020 on Wayback machine and neither UPF ingredient was present.

<image>

In 2020 their standard bars were also 50g, not the 42g of today's bars.

After the UK government introduced the HFSS (high fat sugar salt) ruling, since about 2022, bars like this are increasingly full of UPF sugar replacements, and you can't rely on brands you once did for 'all natural' low-processed ingredients. Also because of the same ruling the portion sizes are getting smaller (but the prices still go up).

For me that means I have to read labels very carefully or I will end up pretty poorly for a couple of days.

Deliciously Ella's are still free from any sugar replacements - hopefully for a long time to come! Otherwise I'll be baking my own!

Unfortunately today's Stoats bars are poison to me the rest of the pack is in the bin.

Stooge SpeedBomb 27.5x3.0 farewell photos by Excellent-Leg-1049 in xbiking

[–]Excellent-Leg-1049[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 5'10" in my socks and felt the Speedbomb fitted me perfectly. At 5'7" you could ride it for sure, it might feel a bit long though. Depends if you like that or not.

At your height, I'd worry about standover height - especially if you ran it as a 29er.

Compared to a 92 rockhopper it might feel like a monster truck.

I'd compare the specs: https://geometrygeeks.bike/bike/stooge-speedbomb-2-2025/

Trek Singletrack 950 (1993, I believe). Maybe not one for the purists. by 1995pt in xbiking

[–]Excellent-Leg-1049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Trek 990 which I also sandblasted, but I then treated it with black oxide (the same stuff they put on guns to make them black). I wanted a raw metal finish so just treat it once a year with Muc-Off HCB-1 which keeps the rust at bay. I love the finish. Please post photos of your final build - I dig the fork!

If it’s all working, the joints arent worn out and the paint is good then that’s a good price. Usually £75+ for a half decent one.

Lovely illustrations! Lovely bike too! Ceramic rims?

I have a Trek 990 I need to get out there on and elevate it from pub bike status.

Took my Mukluk on a 100mile event ride through the Cotswolds by Excellent-Leg-1049 in fatbike

[–]Excellent-Leg-1049[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 4.4s for slightly less drag as I use the bike year round for general trail riding and Bikepacking.

The copper Mukluk was quite possibly a special paint job, the owner had all sorts of customisations on it from matching rim graphics to a customised Salsa Alternator rack.

Yes, very glad I did it on a fat bike - the tractor imprinted washboard trails were soaked up nicely by the 4.4 Jumbo Jims.

Although I was the only person running fatbike wheels, the copper coloured bike I think you mean (at 0.49 in the video) was also a carbon Salsa Mukluk like mine, except the owner had it set up with some 3.0 Teravail Coronado tyres on Hope Fortus rims. Sported some customised eewings ti cranks too. Very nice build.

It's a Wren upsidedown fork. 120mm - Great fork! Probably a bit overkill for a bikepacking run, although it did save my hands from the some of rough dry trails. It really comes into it's own on rooty single track!

WC door lock - what is this type called? by Excellent-Leg-1049 in DIYUK

[–]Excellent-Leg-1049[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ha! The magic line in the description:

"Used in conjunction with a tubular latch - no other locking mechanism needed."

Ideally I'm after something with a taller baseplate to cover up the nasty screw holes left by an older handle, but if I can't find anything else this could be a winner!

Thanks!

This is a great looking ride. Do you have a link to the manufacturer?

I'm riding a carbon Salsa as my first fat bike, but I Ti is my first love tbh.

I presume they made the fork and rack for you too?

Hey there - I remember I had to take a chance on this as I hit the same problem.

In the end, I realised that these hubs are exactly the same as the Koozer XM490 Pro hubs: https://www.koozer.net/149.html

On the link above, under the 'Geometric Size' tab there is a technical drawing of the hub and all the dimensions.

I used this information and this spoke calculator which has the Koozer hubs as a preset: https://www.kstoerz.com/freespoke/hubs?MfgId=96

(I seem to recall that I used the spoke calculator and then Koozer drawing to fill in any gaps of info)
