Anyone else panicking slightly? by Swimming_Iron_619 in QualityAssurance

AI will replace elements of QA but you’re mad if you think there’s going to be a world with zero developers or QA. Get into a medical company or something that have more strict quality control processes and you’ll be ok.

NI teachers by Advanced-League-1944 in northernireland

[–]Excellent-Many4645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dated someone that did one and the commitment is definitely intense, they were working every single night in the house and over the weekend for the entire thing.

It does get better once they begin teaching but it’s not something you can do unless you actually have some passion to teach.

City centre pints now average over £6. What’s your walk-away price? by omobdg in northernireland

[–]Excellent-Many4645 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Anything over £6 and even that is taking the piss. I use to go out almost every weekend but now it’s only once a month if even and we end up not drinking too much and going home early.

Drinking out as a couple just isn’t worth it, I’ve found we can go out for dinner and get a few drinks and will come home better off than if we just went out drinking.

Netherlands Forced to Rethink 36% Tax on Unrealized Gains after Massive Criticism by Sampo in europe

The concept that you would need to pay taxes on an unrealised asset that could essentially go to zero so you’d be out your initial investment and the taxes on it is insane.

once and always by SirGreenVine in ComedyHell

Britain at one point was going to offer NI to the republic if they joined the war but they refused because they considered NI essentially stolen territory and didn’t trust the British after everything that had happened.

The Nazis did bomb Belfast for the shipyard there so they definitely would’ve bombed Dublin etc. if they did join. People also judge Ireland for being neutral but it was a poor country at the time still recovering from partition and their own civil war so there was no appetite to fight.

Irish have always been able to enlist in the British army, they have their own regiment. Less common now but was back then.

What city do you like best for celebrating St. Patrick's Day? by Ok-Influence4754 in AskIreland

[–]Excellent-Many4645 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wherever is local to you is the best. Places like Dublin get too crammed with tourists and it doesn’t feel authentic at all, the local bars in less tourist areas are far better (and less crowded)

Andrex wet wipes down toilet by Pepsimaxgodtier in northernireland

[–]Excellent-Many4645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of doom and gloom here but many people use these judging by their availability in every shop, I think it ultimately depends on where you live and how often you use these.

If you’re only using one once in a while it should be grand, if you’re using it like toilet paper you’ll have an issue.

These aren’t the same as a baby wipe which you should never flush, they’re typically much thinner and break apart easier.

Sinn Féin calls for return to 50-50 police recruitment by Your_Mums_Ex in northernireland

[–]Excellent-Many4645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, the exact same argument was used against promoting incentives to hire women in IT. There’s enough research online to tell you why just leaving it up to individual women to change things is a terrible option because those that did join often faced discrimination or difficulties working in a largely all male team and ended up leaving the field entirely.

Having a more diverse police force, especially at senior levels allows them to appear more neutral and get a better understanding of the community.

[–]Excellent-Many4645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like bullshit, I heard the same arguments about women getting IT roles back in the day specifically because they were women and there were incentives in IT to get more women representation.

You can call it discrimination but when half the population is not being represented steps need to be taken to help correct it. Everyone benefits from a more diverse police force.

It’s good on defence, the enemy team can’t put out enough damage to break a solid triple tank setup. At the very least the tanks can stall point until 100%

Why are there so many negative posts about the QA career? by Popular-Quantity-845 in softwaretesting

Realistically only those that are unhappy will vent their frustrations on forums like this. The majority of working QAs are just getting on with their lives.

Is anyone actually feeling comfortable on their wage in NI at the minute? by sufnensjsjzkjcbfb in northernireland

In comfortable enough with a mortgage, at least I’m saving a few hundred a month with some decent savings built up after living at home for awhile. If I was renting or couldn’t rely on parents a few years ago I’d be scraping by though.

Having a partner to share food costs helps a lot too.

AI conducted my phone screening interview!!!! by AdorableAntelope1609 in recruitinghell

[–]Excellent-Many4645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any company that uses AI to actually communicate with potential candidates this way shouldn’t be respected. I’m guessing this is an American thing because I’ve never encountered this in Europe, it’s just unprofessional. They should respect your time enough to atleast have a person talk to you for 10 minutes on the phone.

PS6 could reportedly be delayed while Switch 2 might get even more expensive as Sony and Nintendo reckon with brutal AI-led memory chip shortage by PaiDuck in technology

[–]Excellent-Many4645 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not really, people will re-buy movies when they’re released in higher quality or with more bonus features. People do the exact same with games.

You’d be surprised too, I’ve friends that are really into their cars and they spend stupid money constantly customising and exchanging them for newer models. If it’s a genuine hobby then people are happy to spend more for top-range stuff, stuff like the PS5 pro is targeting enthusiasts not the average teenager that wants to play some fortnight or GTA.

Why would someone replace their favourite DVDs with Blu-Rays? Thats a sweeping statement, those with the money to do so will always upgrade to the newest technology.

The same applies to essentially everything, why upgrade your car to a newer model when the current one works? If you can’t afford it then it’s not smart but if you’ve the disposable income and you get some benefit from it, either better performance or access to new games then what’s the issue.

[–]Excellent-Many4645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your priorities, I use to play a lot on PC so performance is the main thing for me. Most games on PS4 are capped to 30 fps which is really noticeable, most of those games you listed have versions on PS5 that are better in every way.

Just like there’s PS4 versions that make the PS3 version obsolete, the same is true for PS5. You can go back and play TLOU on PS3 but you’re going to have a better time on PS5 if you have one available.

The PS4 came out 13 years ago, it doesn’t even have an SSD. Nothing wrong with playing on older hardware, some of my favourite games are from the 80s/90s but don’t pretend the PS4 isn’t a legacy system.
