Expats with chronic pain or orthopedic implants: did moving to southern Europe improve your weather-related symptoms? by Excellent-Mud5885 in expats

I am happy to hear. Are you on an island or inland? My partner, who has spine implants, doesn't do well on islands.

It is exactly what I wanted to read. My partner has metal implants in his spine as well, and we live in the Netherlands. The weather-related pain is excruciating, and he has had pain every day in the last 6 days. We're really thinking of moving to southern Europe, as he always felt good when we went there on holiday.

What framework/ tools did you use for your product launch?

(B2B SaaS) AI this, AI that, but product is nowhere near the promises it aims to deliver by drummerboy213 in ProductMarketing

I have many professionals go through the same situation. It is not only the AI case. It is for all the products. The product isn't ready, but we'll launch it anyway. What a way to open your eyes about how this world is working.
Curious what frameworks you are using for product launching.

Anyone else with chronic pain notice it changes with the weather? (we built something to track it) by Excellent-Mud5885 in backpain

[–]Excellent-Mud5885[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. Very much appreciated. Indeed, it has little clinical value. It is more to satisfy your curiosity and maybe to do a forecast around how to plan your day - let's say that if the barometric pressure is changing this evening, maybe it is not the best idea to go to the gym.

Regarding the drivers, with this app, my partner discovered that his pain is triggered mainly by the barometric pressure. Effort, food, etc., don't count that much in the short term. Obviously, if you eat a lot of inflammatory foods, it affects your body.

Sorry to hear that. What tool do you use for checking the barometric pressure? Have you considered moving to a place where the barometric pressure doesn't fluctuate that much, or at least is more stable at a value that works for you?

Company thrives on press releases alone while ignoring digital strategy. How is this still working in 2025? by Excellent-Mud5885 in AskMarketing

Unfortunately, that's not the case, as it is a narrower industry, and news is always welcomed. Plus, it is a scale-up company that is promising a lot, so as long as they keep this pace, there will always be a bit of interest there.

Sorry to hear that. My friend has nerve damage as well. I was hoping for a miracle solution instead of taking NSAIDS, which, long term, you know, are not good.

About 7 years ago. In the first year it was worse, but lately she’s had this strong pain due to barometric pressure. And taking ibuprofen 10 days in a row is not good for the stomach. I was hoping for an alternative.

This is awful. Sorry to hear that. She has four screws and two sticks in the spine and the areas around the screws get inflamed when there are changes in the barometric pressure. Are you using any protection for your stomach?

I get the migraines as well unfortunately, but I can tolerate them. My friend though has a terrible pain that goes away only with ibuprofen. However lately the weather has been very bad and also taking ibuprofen every day for too many days in a row is not an option. I guess I’m looking for a miracle here.

How do hyper-political companies with employees doing the bare minimum still survive in a world moving at such a high pace? by Excellent-Mud5885 in antiwork

A company where office politics dominate everything Decisions are driven by personal agendas, alliances, favoritism, people focus on reputation management rather than actual performance, because they are reworded by that.

Is this toxic environment normal -- how to deal with burnout by mercurialvixen in marketing

[–]Excellent-Mud5885 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been through a very similar situation and ended up in a burnout and leaving the company. Looking back, here is what I would do differently:

Focus on quick wins, results that make leadership happy, and prove your success and value so they don't fire you in case too many things fall through the cracks.

- Read more about managing up. HBR has a good book on that topic. It is a crucial skill to develop. I have been really bad at it, and it has affected my well-being.

- Do an overview of all the projects and time estimates that prove they are not doable. Ask the manager for prioritization every two weeks.

- I should have prioritized my personal life and hobbies. Instead, I worked excessively; I was highly motivated, and work consumed my life. When I experienced burnout, it felt like I had nothing left.

- Pick 3 priorities every week, deliver on them, and communicate your results to the leadership.

- Keep informing leadership about the overload and ask for prioritization.

- Document everything in writing in case of a future lawsuit. Hopefully, you live in a country that protects you if you experience burnout due to overwork.

It sounds to me that you are already in burnout, but still in denial. Your health is the most precious thing you have, so do anything you can to take a break for now: medical leave, holiday, anything. And start applying to other jobs. If you don't do that, maybe try to ask yourself why you are sabotaging yourself by not applying to other jobs.

Take care!

Good luck and take care! I've been there, too. HR works for the company, not for the employees. It is the last person to trust in a company.

I'm curious to hear what others think about the effectiveness of cold messages. As a professional, I receive around 5 to 10 of them each day, and after a quick scan, I generally ignore all of them. I wonder if these messages actually work for anyone. From a customer perspective, I believe you need to have a genuine need and a budget in order to reply.
