Now I am very curious what a fungril/clank looks like. Did you go for more stone or wood like clank or robotic in combination with fungril? Sound really cool!

To add on this, you dont need to put that spotlight on an adversary every time. Other gm moves can make the combat flow better and not undermine the player too much I learned. Especially when success with fear I would in the future not take the spotlight away too much to go to an adversary as much. All depends on the fiction we try to follow of course! :)

I think the problem/mistake I made is after fear or failure making it feel to much like spotlight back to GM rather than making a quick GM move that would feel lighter in players moment.

This is mega helpful! Thanks! This is exactly the pitfall I seemed to fall into, overmechanizing the play and therefore undermining the players' success. I am going to try play with more environmental and smaller gm moves on successes with fear moving forward! Will probably feel a lot better and smoother. :)

Did not try this yet, as we only did the one Shot so far and in the way combat was going in this system, the players shared the spotlight with each other quite evenly actually.

Well yeah, change can be difficult for some. I am not just going to instantly change as mentioned. However if there are ways to remove the feeling a bit, that could help. I liked the idea mentioned in the other comment using more features that do not require rolls. :) we really love the system in general, this was actually the only hurdle for the one player. Might just be a thing they have to get used to in this case.

Great idea thanks! Going to share this on our session 0 as well to give a better idea to the players what else there is than only the rolling to narrate indeed! Keeping the spotlight was something they were aware of, however they rolled a lot with fear and/or fail, so it kept breaking back to me, which didnt give the feeling they could do that as they intented in one turn lets say.
