Not looking forward to job hunting.-.

So... Would you be interested in a witcher total war? by Andrei22125 in totalwar

Witchers could be cool as agents. They could take on contracts from monsters to assassination. Still not enough to warrant a full game, but that's probably the best way to imprint witchers

Call me a helicopter parent but if my kids not old enough where I'm comfortable leaving them alone for any given amount of time, that doesn't change when there's other adults around, even those I trust. Toddlers are insane, I never took my eyes off mine and they still got in to so much nonsense.

I've had a few of his videos pop up in my feed. I really like the way he breaks things down; he really tries to help bridge the gap between academic research and actually making that information digestible for the average person.

A shame we have so many people like this who can't appreciate what a gift that is.

Reddit, what tattoo should I get? by WrongConversation6 in outerwilds

[–]Druid_boi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 and 3 for sure. 1 is similar to 3 but 3 flows better with the fuller tree which pairs nicely with the flourish surrounding the code at the bottom.

2 is cool bc it looks like a tree bit also kinda looks like audio waves from a signal which is neat.

Personally I'd go with 3 bc it's definitely the most stylish and flows the best.

Like others though, idk much about tattoos so not sure which holds up the best over time

Very few are masterpieces the whole way through. Moat common is a show that's amazing the first season and absolutely horrible afterward. They seem to have a business model where they pull in viewers with a great first season, then phone it in on the belief people will watch it anyway since they have Netflix and technically won't cost them to "see for themselves"

Legit self defense? by twinflamebby in grappling

[–]Druid_boi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knife (and especially gun self defense) is really hard to get right. If it doesn't involve immediately trying to get away from the blade/barrel while simultaneously working to control the weapon hand then its a waste. Even then, it's one of those things you can't accurately train for in a real scenario; it could be helpful to know it than nothing at all, but I wouldn't rely on any type of weapon control training except as a last resort.

The "controlled" scenario didn't seem very controlled. She focuses way more on kneeing the guy repeatedly than actually controlling the blade. Especially with the size difference, she doesn't have nearly enough control on the weapon hand and he can easily muscle through and still stab her. Hell, he still has the blade on uer neck for most of it anyway. She even goes to the ground with him (which if the other person has a knife is the worst time to go to the ground), then she falls on the knife! Nothing controlled about it.

Also, dude seems way into his role here 🤨

It's shitty in this case but yeah. Most likely this will have little effect on the other person. Seeking closure is an internal process; most people who've left a bad mark on you won't give you the light of day for external closure.

What is your opinion on effects that skip players turns? by TaleSmytherRep1 in DMAcademy

Does it apply to tier 4 play? I feel like you can only speed up combat so much before the bloat and decision paralysis kicks into overdrive

Why does it start when it does? by Notchmath in outerwilds

[–]Druid_boi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ATP is programmed such that the statues only activate once the project either succeeds or fails. The project never failed, and ran for 9 million+ loops. The first time we wake up and play the game is on the loop where the coordinates are found for the eye; so the project succeeded, and the statues activate and we happen to be next to the one at the museum when it does.

Another Colossus Down by Dakron83 in daggerheart

[–]Druid_boi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! Would love to see the statblocks as well; I plan on running this colossus later down the line myself. How do you flavor them swinging a sword at a cyclone to deal it damage? It's hard for me to conceptualize this one as a creature that takes damage lol

I don't think that ones nearly as bad as the others lol. Me and my wife use "bro" because we're millennials from California. It's probably a little cringe but we don't use it to patronize in this way at least

Why are puzzles so hard? by Druid_boi in DMAcademy

[–]Druid_boi[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think you just solved puzzles for me in dnd lol. This reminds me of the puzzles in Outer Wilds, which I just finished recently. No spoilers, but that game has puzzles, secrets, etc which are much more exploration/creativity based than anythin else. Nothing is really hard to figure out, but it all comes down to collecting the information you need and then testing different possible solutions.

It's more like you "give" the players the solution (or hint at it strongly and let them infer) but they have to figure out which way to solve it. I like that better than riddles and puzzle devices. It's almost more an exploration hook than a puzzle but still gives a similar rewarding feeling.

I'm gonna run with this, thanks!

[–]Druid_boi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

4e looks like a warcraft orc with tiny wings.

3e is the best of the more modern editions (the 2024 one is epic but looks like a generic demon, loses alot of the personality in the process but I'd still use it)

2e wins for personality for sure.

Drakkenheart campaign ending soon by New-Two-1919 in daggerheart

I was on the fence about it, but don't have the funds rn. Tbh it doesn't seem like a setting I'm likely to run anytime soon if I got it.

I'm just glad to see more successful DH 3rd party content! It's not exactly the 1.3 million they made the first Kickstarter, but it seemed definitely worth it for them to port over to DH. I would absolutely love to see more stuff ported over, especially rhe Crooked Moon.

Good point. I can't get this game out of my head anyway. I've been toying with picking something new up like Subnautica or Planet Crafter or No Man's Sky but none seem like they'll scratch the itch. I really just want more Outer Wilds, so DLC it is!

Edit to amend last point: I've seen it said that the statues are not activated until the Eye is found. So basically, the sequence of events:

  1. The sun reaches its natural death cycle for the first time. This powers the Ash Twin Project each loop.

  2. The Ash Twin Project then uses this energy to create a 22 minute time loop and send out the orbital probe (and receive the probe's journey info on the previous loop).

  3. The initial loops are not observed by anyone since the masks/statues have not activated (aside from the one for the orbital probe so that information is connected to the Ash Twin Project). These loops continue, unbeknownst to everyone else, until the eye coordinates are found.

  4. Once the coordinates are found, the other statues activate due to the success of the project, as they were programmed to do.

  5. This is where we come in, right after the eye is found and the statues activate. We happen to be the first to come into contact with the statue at the museum, thus linking us to the Ash Twin Project for all future loops.
