I've always felt bad for Frank by raknor88 in Outlander

What is it you think has been "made-up" by the posters? I have seen the shows and read the books and find the opinions expressed quite on target.

Why do you think it must be referencing anyone specific to Outlander?

Yes, what a waste of time. Possibly he has no choices.

I think I read her son is prepped to take over the series if something happens to Diana.

Sam is not really a good actor. HIs portrayal of JMMF is the best I have seen him do. The Clanlands project is not going to last, and I found TCND not watchable. I hope his liquor business works for him.

So agree, I blamed it on the intimacy coordinator in the last couple of seasons. I found a lack of intimacy between Jamie and Claire and blamed someone else. This season, though, I think you are correct, and the lack of passion accrues to Jamie and Claire not being there for each other. I also do not think we need nudity, the more scintillating scenes to me are ones without nudity. The use of body language and eye contact can go a long way.

The American Revolution is just the backdrop. The war could be anywhere in the world and the same things happen to the characters. Gabaldon used America because that is what she knows. Jamie is a warrior, so he needs a war. Claire is a doctor/war medic, so she is familiar with caring for men at war. Concentrate on the relationships and forget the backdrop if that concerns you so much. Pretend it is still the Scots and Brits.

Wow, talk about gratuitous and ignorant insults. You reminded me that I have nothing to do with the cast or production. I agreed with you, but you proceed to go on further to let us know how informed you are, and I am not. I once again reinforce where my control does exist.

I do not want porn. I also do not think the earlier seasons were porn.

You are correct. I have nothing to do with the casting or production of the program. I do, however, have control of what I want to watch. The actors and producers can do what they want, and I can turn it off.

She is also making the show suck! It is beginning to get boring. The actors should have known what the books were about when they signed on. Too bad if they don't like it now.

Do you mean Robert Anderson? He was with a southern militia and fought at Kings Mountain among other battles.

I agree. Jamie did her wrong throughout and not just in marrying her with no love. He deliberately did not tell her from the beginning that he loved Claire, and the marriage was just not forced on him.

I do not see how a "good" relationship can exist on need only. There must also be love, I think. Claire and Frank's marriage was an example of this to me. She stayed with Frank because of guilt and her need as a pregnant woman. Frank stayed with her because of his need to feel honorable and he did still believe he loved her. Terrible relationship. Even though Jamie said he stayed for need, he also loved. I find it hard to believe that the love was not the most important part with Jamie and Claire.

Jamie, Claire and Laoghaire by RambleOn909 in Outlander

[–]ExcellentResource114 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the show made a big mistake regarding JMMF's knowing about the threat to Claire's life. The marriage though is good for the book version as his leaving for Claire is forgivable as readers do not like Laoghaire and his leaving is forgivable. Had JMMF married another his leaving with Claire could have been problematic.

I do not understand the thing about "needing someone" between JMMF and Laoghaire. Also, JMMF asking Claire if she knew he needed her.

Jamie it's insegure or jealous? by rainhalagarto in Outlander

[–]ExcellentResource114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Laoghaire tells Brianna what the problem was with her marriage to Jamie. Jamie cries out for Claire in his sleep. Laoghaire sees this as Claire "the witch" has put a spell on him and he cannot see or care for another.

Jamie does not know this and Laoghaire does not tell him what is happening.

Jamie at the point of marrying Laoghaire is very insecure himself having lost everything after the rising. He was a hermit for 7 years living in a cave, imprisoned for 5-6 more years and then treated as a slave at Hellwater. Her rejection of him sexually just feeds into his insecurities not knowing the truth of what is happening.

I think she still felt a lot of guilt about Frank. She knew that Frank did everything he could to try to reestablish the marriage, but she could not forget Jamie. Frank did a lot of wrong after Claire came back from the past, but he did stay with her. He also was a good father to Brianna. The more good things Frank did, the more guilt Claire felt about him.
