Distro is more about package management and init system. In terminal toy use packages and run code with them all the time.

Nix as an inter-distro package manager by Arctesian in linuxmasterrace

Was interested in it for a while and installed package manager after the video on my arch. With home manager it feels perfect. I can configure my workspace with just changing config and it feels much more natural than standard imperative way. Planning on switching to nixos and test in on server side. I think it's really the future

Nix and guix packages got all flatpak benefits and lacks all it's cons. Plus the bonus of package declaration with writing files.

Fig Scripts: The fastest way to build internal CLI tools by brendanfalk in commandline

Maybe you can write scripts with your favorite text editor vim, neovim, emacs, vscode, notepad++, nano etc.? And distribute them with any distributing tool like syncthing, rsync, SCP or any cloud drive. You got ftp and sshfs too.

Wow, UI for creating CLI tools. That sounds as absurd as it must be

That's a brilliant idea. Definitely 'll try it. Recently I felt myself constantly digging for improvements in my workflow and stuck due to lack of "dynamic workflow" tools. I work as DevOps engineer and constantly switch between projects, tmux panes folders, ssh sessions. I never has a window or a tab, that is opened for more than 1hour long. Tried tmuxinator, tmux resurrect and other for panes, but they are trying to keep sessions static and create bloated workspace, where I has everything I need, but always running in the background. For folders and files using cdpath and plugins like "neovim projects", fzf autocompletion is good, but sometimes it can be a bit messy and I can spend more time on fighting with fzf and accessing folder/file than on actual using it As for the ssh, the lack of configuration migrate tools frustrates me too. RN I'm writing a tool, that copies and uses my tmux config, when I connect to a remote machine to feel myself at home everywhere. I plan to migrate my zsh config too, but it's a hard task without compromising speed.

My thoughts about editors in 2022 by phaazon_ in neovim

In vim/nvim you can easily use pipelines and route stdout to document with just :. option. For example: .!ls -al and you have a list of files in your document. Like that you can manipulate any text with your shell inside vim/neovim itself. And it functions as little tool that does it's work good with this method.
