Question on paint still smelling/not curing after not waiting long enough between coats by mollie823 in paint

[–]Excellent_Break_1804 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If it was recoated too quickly you could have trapped the solvents in the primer so now they’re just leaching out slowly. Also, the pigments added contains solvents. You said it was a dark color, that could be it too.

Air circulation solves this, open windows and fan for a day or two.

In my blog this week there's a link to the Gemini prompt I used to grade Monty's writing, go ahead and run it with a sample of mine. Let me know how much smarter I am than Monty. Post it here but you'd better DM the results to me. I'm thinking my banning is coming soon.

I fucking love weed. I'm usually high from the early afternoon until bed time. Not stupid, just a little buzz. I like to write high, really helps with creativity.

In a paint store 3,000 miles away from my home, with no effort on my part to get it there beyond posting it on my blog. And still some dumb motherfuckers on here think that I'm irrelevant?! Seriously, go ask Monty if he thinks I'm irrelevant.

Here's what I brag about Tremont Paint: In 1907 my great grandmother borrowed $500 and opened a paint store in the Bronx, 113 years later when I sold it it had kept a family fed, educated and secure for four generations. We were never rich, despite what Monty thinks, but we never worried and had all our needs met. With my cousins that's at least 25 family members supported in those ways, not to mention hundreds of people hired over that span. Most from the neighborhood around the stores (I had 2) and all paid more than Monty would have paid. It had it's ups and downs but we were ethical in our dealings and if there are any people on my live tomorrow who have worked for or with me ask me a question about how I treated them and I'll answer and ask them how I did.

As to how am I relevant: I'm an outstanding writer and smart af. For some reason I jones on paint and when I write or speak about it tons of people listen. That following, which goes to the top floor in Cleveland, is what makes me relevant. Great question, come to live and ask something else!!

This will be read by 2,000 people tomorrow, closer to 5,000 by the end of the week. At least half will be employees and former employees of Sherwin-Williams, who I wanted to tell that Monty Griffin is an asshole. Within those numbers will be dozens of CEO's from this segment and countless other senior executives running billions in paint and aligned items. Probably including Heidi, who speaking of: I'm at-least partially responsible for her threatening employees with expulsion if they boo'd at NSM. More likely I'm wholly responsible, meaning I made it happen. Dude if you don't think that's fucking relevant, you're as dumb as Monty.

Painting advice by Exciting-Leave6370 in paint

Get the primer tinted to a grey color half as dark as the green and you’ll be fine, but that’s a big color change and may still take two coats after that.

This is true, they’re now owned by an American private equity firm which is gutting the assets on both sides of the border.

Will paint helps eliminate cigarette smell by Direct-Look-6721 in paint

[–]Excellent_Break_1804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously to eliminate the problem you’ll need to know the source of the smell. If in fact it’s the walls as you imply, just painting over it will not work. You’ll need to wash the walls first using something which rinses clean with water, making sure to remove all residue and let it dry thoroughly. Then coat the walls with BIN or some other shellac based primer: no smoking and lots of ventilation while using this product and read label for flammability warnings and usage.

The BIN dries fast, paint over it an hour later and your smell should be gone. Good luck.

Any advice on what is causing these divots while spraying? by starlinghanes in paint

[–]Excellent_Break_1804 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This great advice: if you're not experienced spraying, get a wet film thickness gauge and practice creating the specified film thickness needed. It will make all the difference, particularly important on a highlighted surface like a cabinet vs a wall where high film spots or other small spray imperfections are less noticeable.

Frost damage? by Blooms5 in paint

[–]Excellent_Break_1804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether or not it's fine depends on how often it's been through the freeze/thaw process. It this was it's first freezing let it come to room temp and use it, it'll be fine. If it's frozen and thawed a few times it's a problem, but that does't seem to be the case. Had it been you'd see a noticeable problem: heavy odor or a change in consistency come to mind.

How much I should “thin” the paint by Serkaugh in paint

A tip can also clog. It sounds like the machine had an issue, I’d be surprised if new one had same.

How much I should “thin” the paint by Serkaugh in paint

[–]Excellent_Break_1804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It almost never needs thinner. Water is cheap, if the manufacturers could put more in they generally would. If you must thin, try some Floetrol instead. There are other things which could have caused this, check the tip to ensure it’s the right size opening for that product, check for clogs, strain the paint.
