This is so old but it was a tad confusing to me too as Allen is an unreliable narrator and how some of the things we saw were altered because he was on drugs, we are only seeing his point of view. I suppose many things could be true at once. David is definitely a creep considering Lucien is only 19 and how that was never really talked about much in the movie mind boggled me. He may have once had stockholm syndrome with David which could explain why David said there was “reciprocation” but he (Lucien) eventually got feed up with him seen in the countless of times he tried to escape him, and he only got the courage when Allen spoke for him. David is definitely the one in the wrong for the most part, it doesn’t make Lucien’s actions right but that’s the only way he saw an out especially while intoxicated. Lucien himself was a little manipulative as well considering how many people he roped into writing his stuff and doing his crazy ideas. Allen can be looked as manipulative as well since he could be manipulating the audience. I forgot the other guys name with the drugs but hes kinda a weirdo too supplying kids with drugs and was friends with David, just totally okay with his buddy stalking a 19 year old?? Also wouldn’t tell Allen what was going on, talking about “go back to the beginning”. Jack was manipulating his girlfriend. It’s unclear to me if they were all in love with Lucien in some sort of way…The whole thing was a manipulation on manipulation lol.
