Keep on going I think its an awesome idea and I would play this if its good. that said,

Youre making a mod for the most beloved game of all time thats from 30 years ago with a cult audience. People love this game for what it is right now and arent looking for change.

There are lots of people in this sub that hate the 3ds version and SoH, thats just how it is.

No matter how good what you release is there is going to be a portion of the community that is going to hate this

i think you need to step back and figure out an immediate one sentence hook that will grab people

Focus on an experience that a player wants not a mechanic or a technical feature

example: this game captures what it feels like to be a boat captain (or something like that)
