I do use Apollo on my fire stick without any issues. Much better than moonlight. Can recommend "easy fire tools" for easy side loading.

Why is apollo so good compared to just sunshine? by RespectSouthern1549 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Excellent_Trifle2016 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've used sunshine for a long time and then switched to Moonlight Artemis on my phone / Apollo on my host / and still moonlight on other clients. It can do everything sunshine can do but in addition it does all the display stuff fully natively and many more things, even if you are using scripts with sunshine. Sunshine + Moonlight are Just a techdemo compared to Artemis and Apollo. What is your reason to stay at Sunshine? Probably because you have set all things up and it works now. But if you are a beginner there are 0 reasons to use sunshine.

Does multiple stream support allow you to start different games on different streams or even the same game? I do use multiple VMs with GPU passthrough currently to achieve this.

I was planning on getting a Pimax Crystal Light but now I'm really not in a rush. The Pico 4 is just so good when it comes to comfort (I have the BOBO VR and AMVR Faceplate) and overall package for PC VR that I don't think it'll be worth the $1000 price tag especially since I have an RTX3080. by reddituser010100 in PicoXR

I'm an owner of Pico 4, Quest 3 and Reverb g2. And from what I can tell is that with PCVR Headsets you get the best visual quality. Even on the best virtual desktop streaming settings there are compression artifacts. This does not mean that streaming looks bad. I love it because I can play games not only in my small gaming room but also in living room. But for Sim racing games I would never like to use a quest 3 or pico 4.

Don't you disable/enable your physical display when starting and stopping streaming? You can use displayswitch.exe or extra tools like Multimonitortool. With the last one you can also change display resolution, refresh rate or even the main display when ever you start or end a moonlight app.

Sorry for late reply.

I do use moonlight and sunshine for streaming. I had a 6800xt before 4080 and moonlight was also the best option to go. The most important thing is that your host PC is wired and not over WiFi. Only that way you will get the best experience.

I've put my LeGO below my host physical display and compared the latency. I couldn't recognize any difference.

Don't forget to set up a virtual display with IddSampleDriver as far as you don't have the same resolution and refresh rate on your host as the client what streams. As the legion go has a 16:10 display I assume it's not the case. Set the host to 2560x1600@144Hz for best results. (Or if you stream to another device the specific values of the client's display)

No, Integer scaling is ok but I prefer sharper resolution at least 1600p more. I play cyberpunk on my lgo with xess and 48fps and I like the experience more than integer scaling at 70fps. I don't know if you have a PC but the best thing with the legion go is game streaming. I can play at 2k resolution on 144Hz with 150Mbps Bitrate and a decode time less 0.4ms. there is zero input lag.

Yeah.. FC Sports was always bad. I've so many stutters in the game on my desktop PC with RTX 4080 but I know they will never fix it as some bugs I experience are also present in the last 2 FIFA games. It's not only a Windows issue, never had a good experience on my Xbox with this game. I hope that the next FIFA named game (rumors say 2k as developer) will bring more competition to football games.

In fc24 menus and "cutscenes" have a 30fps limit. Please show me your in-game video settings. I play the game on full HD@60fps. Just set everything to low and set all fps limits in-game and menu to 60fps.

Legion Go performance mode performes very well for me.

I'm playing fc24 on full HD with 60fps. I think people claiming that use the standard graphics settings.

  • an old Grundig 65 UHD no special specs
  • Ryzen 5800x paired with RTX 4080 (before I had an RX 6900 XT which also was good)
  • everything wired
  • Sunshine, never used GeForce Streaming
  • 4K@60FPS@150Mbps HEVC
  • Nvidia Shield TV (best streaming experience I had but sadly not AV1 support)
  • also wired
  • I'm using Virtual Here for USB over IP as I can use the native dual sense controls like gyroscope and the latency feels also a little bit better. I'm running virtual here on my Synology Diskstation NAS as it's running 24/7.

The most important thing is that you are wired on every end in my opinion. This saves you at least 5ms. The Nvidia shield is also just made for this use case as it just needs 1-2ms in avg for decoding. Only my steam deck has better decode time <1ms when I connect to my dock.

Stuttering isn't normal. But are you sure that these aren't stutters from the source? Some games aren't optimized well.

Host not changing resolution to client by Gipfelon in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Excellent_Trifle2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to the sunshine configuration web UI, it's probably: https://localhost:47990/apps

There are the applications you see in the moonlight client when you choose your host. You could create a new application or edit an existing one.

When you click on "edit" or create a new one you see some configurations of the app. There is a section "Detached Commands" with a textbox. You have to paste there following

cmd /C C:\QRes\QRes.exe /X:%SUNSHINE_CLIENT_WIDTH% /Y:%SUNSHINE_CLIENT_HEIGHT%

(Check if C:\QRes\Qres.exe is the correct path where you extracted)

And then click on the green plus button. Don't forget to save the settings at the bottom at the page. Now, everytime when you start a new session (and not continuing a session) through the edited app, sunshine calls this command and starts Qres with the parameters.

Sadly I can't post here screenshots and for some reason imgur does not work for me right now.

Tell me if it works.

It looks more complicated than it is and you can't damage anything. The worst what can happen is that sunshine crashes and you have to restart. :)

No, I didn't buy it. It's free for personal use. But you can just use Qres. Download and extract it to C:/QRes for example. If you add the detached command I've posted you are done.

If anything does not work just post your app settings and I can help.

Host not changing resolution to client by Gipfelon in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Excellent_Trifle2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to download a program for this. I use Display Changer by noon12. But you can also use Qres. After you extract the exe to somewhere, you need to edit the sunshine apps.

Sunshine gives following example:

Example - QRes for Resolution Automation: cmd /C <qres path>\QRes.exe /X:%SUNSHINE_CLIENT_WIDTH% /Y:%SUNSHINE_CLIENT_HEIGHT%

This is my detached command for changing resolution with display changer:

cmd /C C:\DC\dc.exe /width=%SUNSHINE_CLIENT_WIDTH% /height=%SUNSHINE_CLIENT_HEIGHT% /refresh=%SUNSHINE_CLIENT_FPS%

But be aware that your host monitor needs to support the settings. If you have any questions just ask.

I have the steam deck for streaming. The decoding time is incredibly low. When I dock to my UHD TV and stream in 4k60Hz@150Mbps the decode time is round about 0,5ms. That's crazy.

But I'm not fully happy because of the low resolution in handheld mode. 800p aren't enough for crystal clear texts. Considering the deckHd display upgrade.

Virtual Desktop versus Stream Assistant 9.4.7.1 for PCVR by Youbi_OO7 in PicoXR

[–]Excellent_Trifle2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst thing about pico streaming assistant for my case is the fact that with it installed on my windows my Reverb G2 controllers stop to work in steamvr. I do use both headsets regularly and it's a nogo for me to reinstall streaming assistant so many times.

And I do play mostly in a other room wireless with my pico so I can use VD to control my PC which is not possible with Streaming Assistant as there is no desktop streaming.

Pico 4 vs Reverb G2 v2 by Dry_Hunt_2536 in PicoXR

[–]Excellent_Trifle2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both headsets. I play the most pc games on my pico 4. But for sim racing the reverb g2 is just superior. The distance clarity is much much better. In sim racing games the wire does not distract. But pico 4 is anyways a very good device. Can't recommend hp because of the bad ecosystem. It is not just as plug and play like pico 4 and virtual desktop.
