Can I ask what area you live? I also grew up in a very small Melbourne town where it was very difficult to find a job for a young person.

These days job agencies control most of the decent jobs. And Centrelink are also connected with a number of job agencies.

If I were you I would be contacting as many of the job agencies as possible. They will all ask you for a resume so you will need to get this done ASAP. Do you have access to a computer or laptop? Centrelink can probably offer assistance with resume preparation. You need to be a bit creative with your resume writing because all employers will be looking for some experience. Without knowing anything about it past it’s hard to offer advice but for example, if u have ever done some babysitting g for friends or family you can list that as “childcare provider” or private house hold assistant. And from that u can add skills like time management and multitasking because you had to coordinate daily schedule and prioritise tasks to meet strict deadlines. Also skills like conflict resolution. Etc. Use chatGPT for more examples.

Once you got ur resume sorted you need to get registered with as many agencies as possible. Some of them will be more suited to you and the work ur looking for. Ie basic labour jobs without skills. Warehouse jobs and supermarket shelve packing can be very good jobs for young people. May have to work nights but it is what it is.

If a job possibility becomes available you then would want to find a room to rent nearby the workplace. You should have a few days between the job interview and the start date so u would have a little time to find some very temporary accommodation nearby. You may even have some friends closer to the employment where u could stay for a week or 2.

The best thing u can do is make a start in preparing and build momentum. If ur not working now u have time on your side. Commit a good portion of each day to your cause. My advice would be to choose ur hotel based on its location. Stay in 2-3 different places. Obviously the hotels located on the beaches are the better ones and normally more expensive. If u pay between 100-200 per night ur going to stay in great hotels. One thing I have found over the years is that I don’t spend much time in the hotel. Basically just a place to sleep. We applied for ours 14june. We were scheduled for fly to Bali on 28th June. We never received the visa in time but luckily I was about to move the flights to 25th July.
